The church picnic has come and gone and a good time was had by all. We are planning for a bigger and better event for next year. With summer upon us with all its various activities the Deacons would like to remind all we are here to help you in any way we can. If you know of anyone in need of help, let us know and we will try and meet their needs as best as we can. Don’t forget those who are alone, a short visit can brighten a day for a lonely person. We all are busy with summer activities, but don’t forget things still need to be done around the church. When you are planning a trip this summer, make finding a church while you are away part of those plans. The Deacons wish you all a good summer, filled with good events and good health. Blessings to you all.

Pentecost Special Offering One of the four special offerings taken by the Presbyterian Church is the Pentecost Offering, which will be offered on Sunday, June 9. The focus of the Pentecost Offering is on youth, and its mission is accomplished in four unique ways: 40% of the offering stays with Geneva in support of children
and youth in our community
25% supports Young Adult Volunteer opportunities in our denomination
25% supports General Assembly ministries with youth and young adults
10% supports children at risk
The Mission Ministry Unit asks you to join us generously in this mission opportunity.
Congratulations to our Class of 2019 Graduates
High School Graduates Cole Johnson - Creekside High School (will be attending UF at Santa Fe)
Zach Stephenson - Bartram High School (will be attending Saint Johns River)
Sunday, June 2nd we will honor both of these young men and their families.
SESSION MEETING SUMMARY Rick Ulp, Clerk of Session
Summary of Stated Session Minutes from 20 May 2019 The Financial Report was submitted for the month of April 2019 with income being greater than expenses
resulting in an overall $2,300.00 shortfall for the year. The Pre-School reports for April continued to be very positive as it continues to grow. We will continue to operate on a faith budget in furthering God's work at Geneva, being good stewards of our resources.
Your Session approved the following actions:
Elder Pam Lambert reported on the Spring Stated Meeting of Presbytery held on 7 May.
Properties Elder Cliff Calvert reported that a new cleaning service will begin work in June.
Mission Elder Wayne Letizia recommended instituting a trial of a Fair-Trade agreement as a Mission outreach for the purchase of coffee for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening functions.
Worship Elder Becky Thacker will take the lead on hiring an individual to be in charge of the operation of the sanctuary audio equipment during the Sunday worship service. Additionally, a contract will be funded for Ascension Sound to audit the systems twice a year for proper alignment and operation.

A 15th Century German Depiction of Pentecost
On the Day of Pentecost, Sunday June 9th, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit descending in a mighty rush of wind and flame to inspire the church’s proclamation of Christ’s rising and to empower its mission and ministry to the world. (See Acts 2:1-13; see also Joel 2:28-32.) The notion of Easter as a season of 50 days ending at Pentecost is patterned after the ancient Jewish festival of seven weeks that extended from the beginning of the barley harvest (on the second day after the beginning of Passover) to the end of the wheat harvest at the Festival of Weeks or Shavuot (see Deuteronomy 16:9-12). The Festival of Weeks later came to be called Pentecost (“50th day”) by Greek speaking Jews. In Jewish tradition, Shavuot also marks the giving of the law to Moses at Sinai; this liturgical link may inform Paul’s discussions of the law and the Spirit (see Romans 8, 2 Corinthians 3 and Galatians 3).
