IS YOUR CHILD PLAYING OUTSIDE THEIR AGE GROUP? PLAYING DOWN BNJCA rules do not allow players in U10 to Open age groups to play down without advanced written approval. Please email your Age Coordinator from the contact list on page 7, with the Playing Down Form from the Valley Website under the ‘Juniors’ tab, Information for Parents.

PLAYING UP Players wishing to play up one age group are free to do so in the Master Blasters Friday and Saturday Competition, with no prior approval required. Any player wishing to play up two or more age groups from U8 to Open Division must be assessed and approved by Clinton Kempnich, JMC Chairman. Please email Clinton to organise an assessment time at [email protected].

MASTER BLASTERS FRIDAY NIGHT COMPETITION If your child is born after 1 September 2012 and would like to play in the Master Blasters competition, please contact Amy (U8 Age Coordinator) at [email protected] for approval. We encourage girls and boys who are new to cricket to play in the Woolworths Junior or Master Blasters (Wednesday) competition as a great way to learn basic skills.

PROGRAMS AND COMPETITIONS FOR ALL AGES THESE PROGRAMS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE NEW TO CRICKET

• WOOLWORTHS JUNIOR BLASTERS (4-6 YEARS) Woolworths Junior Blasters Program is Cricket’s entry-level program for girls and boys aged between 4 and 6. This program teaches children the basic skills of cricket in an environment that is fun, safe and most importantly promotes a healthy lifestyle where children develop social skills and make new friends. All players will receive a hat, t-shirt, cricket bat and ball. For more information check www.playcricket.com.au.

• WOOLWORTHS MASTER BLASTERS WEDNESDAY (6-10 YEARS) Woolworths Master Blasters is a competition for girls and boys aged between 6 to 10. It is a modified game of cricket played for 90 minutes and helps junior cricketers to progress with confidence from Woolworths Junior Blaster to competitive club cricket competitions. All players will receive a BBL cap, and a Valley training shirt. For more information check www.playcricket.com.au.

THESE COMPETITIONS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR PLAYERS WHO ALREADY HAVE THE BASIC SKILLS OF CRICKET

• WOOLWORTHS MASTER BLASTERS FRIDAY (7-8 YEARS) Master Blasters Friday night is a great introduction to the game of cricket. This fast-moving game involves 6 players on the field. Children will acquire skills in batting, bowling, wicketkeeping and fielding in a fun and safe environment.

• SATURDAY COMPETITION (9-17 YEARS) Children in the U10 to Open (16-17 years) age groups can participate in an organised competition, managed by Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association (BNJCA). As part of our affiliation, Valley teams will play against other clubs in the Brisbane north region. These clubs are listed on the BNJCA website (www.bnjca.qld.cricket.com.au). Half and full seasons are available in this competition. U10s, U11s and U12s play a modified game of cricket.

For more details about the U10s, U11s and U12s modified format on page 10 and 12 in this information guide. Check the Quick Reference Guide for all formats from Master Blasters Friday (was Super Sixes) to Open Competition on page 9 of this Information Guide.
