Background information• Jurassic World is the fourth instalment of the Jurassic park franchise it

invention from the successes of Jurassic Park. • The film was directed and co-written by Colin Trevorrow, produced by

Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley.• The film had a budget of $150 million • Produced by Universal

Pre production • On January 11, 2013, Universal said the film would be shot in 3D and released on the

13th June 2014.(However the script took a long time to write and went through a series of alterations, overall delaying the film process).

• In February, it was reported that Kathleen Kennedy, who was supposedly producing Jurassic World, would not be producing the film as she began focusing on the production of Star Wars: The Force Awakens for 2015.

• Her husband and production partner Frank Marshall took over as the primary producer.• Spielberg had three ideas he wanted to include in the new Jurassic world, he gave his

visions to the writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. 1) A fully functioning dinosaur theme park.2) A human who has a relationship with trained raptors.3)A homicidal dinosaur that escapes and has to be stopped.

FILM CONTENT• Jurassic World takes place on the same fictional island of Isla Nublar,

off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, where a theme park populated with cloned dinosaurs has operated for ten years the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it's up to a former military man and animal expert to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.

FILM/LOCATIONS • Jurassic World was based at the Big Easy Studios.

An evacuation scene was filmed at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. Swamp scenes were filmed in Slidell, Louisiana. A majority of the filming in New Orleans took place at Big Easy Studios inside the NASA complex in East New Orleans

TECHNOLOGY/SPECIAL EFFECTS• According to director Colin Trevverow, the technology

used to make the new film's dinosaurs was a mix of current advanced technology and the techniques perfected back in the '90s. In an interview with Empire, he revealed the same company Legacy Effects that worked on Jurassic Park, was hired for Jurassic World and that they would be tasked with creating animatronic dinosaurs. The use of CGI was also used extensively.

MARKETING • The marketing team carefully planed the timing of the campaign, launching the

first trailer during NBC’s NFL game on Thanksgiving, then attaching it to the blockbuster “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” in December. • The Trailer also landed a spot that aired just before kick-off at the Super Bowl

(the most watched TV event in history).• There was also a Jurassic World website which presented a clever reality based

web experience based Jurassic World as an actual vacation resort which looked a lot like Universal’s theme parks.

MARKETING • They have also teamed up with Lego to create a Jurassic world Lego

range and have also created a TV series ‘LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape’. As well as a video game which is available for £4.99 on the app store and is rated 4 and ½ Stars.

ADVERTISMENT • Jurassic World also had billboards and

posters spotted round iconic locations such as Times Square to help advertise and promote the film. They also had Jurassic world backgroud set ups, where people could take pictures and tweet them to the official Jurassic World page.

BOX OFFICE• It broke numerous records during its opening weekend, including the

biggest opening weekend in North America, and the highest-grossing opening worldwide, but it’s also the first film to gross $500 million worldwide in a single weekend, and the fastest film ever to reach $1 billion.

Jurassic world currently sits 4th in the list of top grossing Box Office films of all time.
