Hi Folks, I can’t believe how quick this year has gone, especially the last few months. Don’t forget October 7 is a public holiday and there are no lessons that night. Just in case you haven’t noticed, we have 4 nights of dance lessons, 3 socials and 1 Saturday night dance. The latter being, hopefully a very big night to finish our year. We have a band called Twang, reuniting for our December 7 dance. It was decided to hold our last social on December 2 and Kevin Smith will be our entertainer for that night. The new committee will decide as to when we resume in the new year. For those of you who weren’t at our last general meeting, the monthly socials are back on our Just Rock calendar, and Billy Guy will be our October 21 social entertainer. Please show your support by attending these dances. Most people already would know that the dinner dance this year being held on November 2, will be free to members. Tickets are available at the club from the dinner dance organ-izers Lynne and Elpi. Members must have a ticket for admission to the dance. Members will be responsible for buying their own drinks. This decision was made by the committee due to the success of the ‘Back to 63’ car show event. Another date to remember is November 4. There will be a general meeting followed by our Annual General Meeting, when a new committee will be elected to take over the reins of our club. There are no lessons that night. Words of Wisdom: Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. A Dog’s Life: Money can buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail. Keep on dancing Cheers Bev

VP CARS REPORT

September Car Cruise We took a lovely country cruise to the Rathdowney Pub via Moogerah Dam. Along the way we followed long and some hilly roads, most of it was very dry, but there were some green patches out there. We travelled through Kalbar where there’s a lovely little bakery to stop at if you are passing through and are in need of coffee and cake. Our MT stop at Moogerah was lovely, beautiful back drop of the dam with lots of activity to be seen on the water. We then continued on our way following more windy and hilly roads and even seeing many many cyclists on the road to our lunch destination at the Rathdowney Pub. It was a great feed, fantastic service and good old fashion pub prices. There were a few nice motorbikes too! We had another great turn out, really good to see every-one.

A fantastic opportunity to promote JRI has come up at Springfield’s Orion Shopping Centre this month! The Orion Hotel is holding a Retro Day, with live music from Jake & the Cadillacs and has asked JRI if we’d like to come to promote our club. Although the floor is open to all dancers, we will be there with leaflets and our best smiles to show Springfield how much fun Just Rock Ipswich has getting our rock on. Come on down to enjoy some great sounds of the past, have a dance and check out the yummy menu at the hotel and stop in at Poison Arrow to check out their latest gear! PS.
