Dear Esteemed Evaluation Committee,
l am pleased to address you as thé Prelate of thé Armenian Diocèse of Azerbaijan withthis letter of consent for thé nomination of thé St Thaddeus thé Apostle Monastery three DayPilgrimage for Intangible Cultural Héritage status. Thé St Thaddeus thé Apostle Monastery islocated within thé geographical borders of our diocèse.
It gives me deep spiritual gratification to witness thé thousands of Christian pilgrims whogather every year at St Thaddeus thé Apostle Monastery following a pious tradition of offeringprayer and worship to God and venerating thé apostle of Christ, St Thaddeus, whose remainsaccording to ancient tradition, are buried beneath thé main altar of this Holy shrine Thé annualpilgrimage to this site has been a continuous tradition in thé modem era since 1954 and wasinitiated by a predecessor prelate of our diocèse. As thé spiritual leader of thé Armenians innorthern Iran, it is indeed humbling as a clergyman to observe thé love, hope and faith of thépilgrims in attendance who through their acts of charity and piety in turn bolster my personal faithand thé faith of their neighbors and fellow pilgrims.
As Prelate and presiding officer of thé National Représentative Assembly, thé highestauthority in thé Armenian communities in Northern Iran, we hâve empowered thé NominationCommittee in collaboration with Diocesan Executive Council to plan, exécute and oversee théSt Thaddeus thé Apostle Monastery three Day Pilgrimage. Additionally since 2013, thé 13member Nomination Committee was charged with systematically informing ail communityorganizations, churches and schools, obtaining consent, garnering grassroots support andassistance for thé Element's nomination for Intangible Cultural Héritage status. Thé NominationCommittee worked in close coopération with thé Foundation for thé Préservation of Churches inIran and local governmental authorities assuring that ail parties were fully aware and supportiveof thé nomination process.

St Thaddeus thé Apostle Monastery three Day Pilgrimage is thé most significant event inthé lives of thé Armenians of Northern Iran; moreover, for Christians worldwide, this pilgrimageunderscores thé honor and prééminence of thé world's oldest monastic shrine which hasserved as ecclesial center for centuries and thé custodian of thé relies of St Thaddeus, théApostle of Christ.
It is my earnest hope that our nomination of thé St Thaddeus thé Apostle Monasterythree Day Pilgrimage is inducted into your prestigious organization's register of IntangibleCultural Héritage as a unique occurrence and a vénérable tradition that should be preserved forthé benefit of ail Christians worldwide and in particular thé Armenian Christian minority of Iran.
