1.0 Introduction

The present investigation has been carried out at the request 0-0 assess the capacity and

water quality of a drilled water well, recently constructed as a source of potable water for the proposed

subdivision described herein, and to establish possible effects by utilizing the available groundwater

resources to neighboring water wells. It is currently planned to subdivide one 14.78 acre parcel from the

89 acre parent property, which is bisected by Oyama Lake Road. The property is located 5 kms up Oyama

Lake Road. A sketch of the proposed subdivision is shown on the attached subdivision plan (Figure 1).

review of the driller's well log report for the new well, an evaluation of the results of a 24-hour pumping

2.0 Description of Exkting Wuter Well

The newly constructed water well was drilled by Cascade Drilling Ltd. of Keloma, B.C. between

September 22“d and the 23d, 2003. The well is completed in the bedrock strata to a total depth of 220 feet,

with 6-inch steel surface casing set to a depth of 11 feet below surface. The main water-bearing fracture

was encountered at 155 Lggt-belw-surface. Upon completion the drilling contractor reported that the well

yield meets or s&%&~’s Bylaw 17% copy of the driller’s report for the new well is attached. 4-.__

3.0 Pumping Test With Existing Well

On December 7*, 2003 a 24-hour pumping test was conducted with the new well by Superior Pumps of

Vernon, B.C. Initially the test rate was set at 6.5 Igpm and this was gradually decreased to 1.75 Igpm

during the final stages of the test. During the test, drawdown measurements were obtained from the well

with an electric well sounder and the flow rate was measured in a precalibrated container. A water sample

was obtained near the end of the pumping interval and forwarded Car0 Environmental Services Ltd. for a

water quality analysis.

Water level data obtained during the pumping test has been plotted on semi log graphs of drawdown versus

time and residual drawdown versus time for recovery (see attached). The total drawdown observed at the

end of the 24-hour pumping interval was 35.47 metres. After the test pump was shut-down, 50% of full

recovery was observed after 64 minutes. Based on the results of the pumping test it is Kalu’s opinion that

the new well meets the requirements of the District of Lake Country’s Subdivision and Development

Services Bylaw No. 97-139, which states that “all wells must be capable of delivering water at a rate of

not less than 20 liters per minute per well over a one hour period to a minimum of 2,300 liters per day

per dwelling unit”.

4.0 Wafer Oualitv

A copy of the certificate of Analysis for the existing well is attached to this report. Based on a review of

the results, all parameters for which an analysis was performed meet the “Guidelines for Canadian

Drinking Tater Quality”. The water was fairly turbid at 4.2 N.T.U., but it is expected that this will

decrease with extended pumping. Also there was background unidentified bacteria greater than 200

colonies/100 ml, which is not unusual in a newly constructed water well. It is recommended that the well

be chlorinated, the water pumped to waste for a few hours and then re-sampled for a bacteria count.

5.0 Wuter Suuulv Evaluation

Based on the results of the present investigation, it is Kulu’s opinion that the newly constructed source well

on the proposed subdivision, provides an adequate supply of groundwater, capable of meeting Section 3.01

of the District of Lake Country Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw No. 97-139. Further, it is

Kalu’s opinion that daily usage from the new source will have minimal effects to surrounding neighboring

water wells and adjoining wells on the subdivision, providing the water is used for the purpose of domestic

requirements only and not large scale irrigation watering.

Based on the results of the water quality analyses, all parameters for which an analysis was performed meet

the “Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality ”. The water was fairly turbid at 4.2 N.T.U., but it

is expected that this will decrease with extended pumping. Also there was background unidentified bacteria

greater than 200 colonies/100 ml, which is not unusual in a newly constructed water well. It is

recommended that the well be chlorinated, the water pumped to waste for a few hours and then resampled

for a bacteria count.

6.0 Closure

This report was prepared in accordance with generally accepted hydrological evaluation practices. The

groundwater potential evaluation presented within this report consisted of a review of all available

information and a site reconnaissance, but does not preclude to the existence of other water-bearing

formations not identified. The availability and potential of a groundwater supply is a professional opinion;

if additional information becomes available Kala Groundwater Consulting Ltd. (gala) would appreciate the

opportunity to review such material and veri@ the conclusions of this report. Kulu does not warranty or

guarantee explicitly or implicitly any reported well yields, as these reported quantities vary between drilling

contractors and also on the various methods used by drilling contractors and individuals to determine well

yield.
