HISTORY AND START OF KANNADA BALAGA

In 1965,the KLE society’s Kannada Balaga was established in the view of promoting the local

Kannada culture and to carry on the legacy of Kannada in North Karnataka. The MBBS students of

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College were backed by their seniors and other men in authority to herald

the beginning of this committee . However , after the formation of KLE University in 2006,Kannada

Balaga became the unit of university

Dr. B.M. Desai,the then principal of JNMC,was first president of Kannada Balaga and

Dr.H.B.Rajshekar was the first chairperson .under their leadership Kannada Balaga has flourished

and has expanded its horizons .it is progressing as the pride of Kannadigas since 50 years

.

Under the umbrella of JNMC’s Kannada Balaga several cultural events and state festival celebrations

are carried out .Many famous comedians, singers,film stars and poets of Kannada have used this

platform to positively influence the young minds of the college and to entertain the people of

belagavi .Ugadi ,Annual function,Basava Jayanyi,Teacher’s day,Kannada rajyotsava are some of the

functions observed by the committee annually.

The chairperson is a chosen doctor from JNMC.Formerly

Dr.H.B.Rajshekar,Dr.F.V.Manvi,Dr.Hemashettar,Dr.C.S.Patil,Dr.P.A.Patil,Dr.Kodliwadmath,Dr.S.

V.Hiremath,Dr.Sadanand V.Patil,Dr.Ganga Pilli,and Dr.M.G.Dorigol ,have been the

chairpersons .Dr.Dnyanesh.D.K is the current chairperson

Some of well-known event conducted under the aegis of Kannada Balaga are Assembly session,

World Kannada meet,and Kannada litrature. Kannada Balaga has held high the glory of Kannada and

Kannadigas .

“ SINCHANA-2018 ” (Kannada Balaga Annual Day Celebration)

On 22nd March 201 inter-college sports events and some literary events were organised.

The traditional games like KABBADI, LAGORI and TUG OF WAR were played. Previously

inter-college badminton and table tennis matches were also arranged.

Literary events like PICK AND SPEAK , QUIZ, STOREY RELLY , PENCIL SKETCH where

arranged

.

Day 2

On 23rd April various inter college cultural events were organized. Competitions like

Solo singing

Solo dance

Group dance

Dubmash were arranged

Day 3 :-

The annual day formal function was on 24th March 2018 which in two sections

MORNING SECTION

The stage was honoured by guests SUDHA MURTHI chairperson INFOCES company

and Dr. Prabakar Kore Chancellor KAHER . Dr N S Mahanthashetti presided over the function

The guests SUDHA MURTHI was felicitated by the KAHER kannada balaga.

EVENING FUNCTION

The stage was honoured by guests PROF RANGARAJ VANAGURG registrar Rani

channamma university, Belagavi. Dr N S Mahanthashetti presided over the function. The prize

distribution to winners in different activites was heald .This was followed by cultural event

For the three days of the Kannada balaga annual day the exhibition was done which depiciting the

different districts of Karnataka. Which was inaugurated by Dr V D Patil registrar KAHAR and Dr N

S Mahanthashetti

“Ugadi”

Ugadi was celebrated on the 38th anniversary of Shiva temple. Shri Chandrashekar

Swamiji of Hukkeri matha blessed the function. Professors and students were felicitated.

“Basava Jayanthi”

Basava jayanthi was celebrated on 18th April 2018. Large number of students and teachers

participated in the function .And procession was done with the tabullo depicting AIKYA

MANTAPA

OF BASAVANNA The tabulo was appreciated by the Belagavi citizen.

“Teachers day”

On the eve of teachers day 5th September 2018, a pooja for the saptharishi’s was arranged. Prof Dr.

Vivek savoji voice chancler conducted the Pooja

On 6th September 2018 the formal function of the teachers day was organized . The stage was

honored by guests Prof Dr . S K Joshi principal SDM medical college Dharwad. There was the

felicitation to the chief guest by the KAHER kannada balaga . And there was also the felicitation to

the best teachers . This was followed by the book release by the chief guest.

On the same day there was the exchange of the Chairperson post of KAHER’S Kannada balaga was

held
