The year is quickly fading away but it still seems likeyesterday when I took over the Publication Committee andtried my best in my capacity to organize entertaining eventsfor our honorable members and children. InshaAllah nextmonth Publication Committee yet again planned to organizeKid’s Night Out and some motivational session by somerenowned speakers.

I take pleasure to inform that we are looking forward toorganize an evening with achievers in the month ofDecember 2017 for those members who have accomplishedany achievement in their field of education/professionduring 2017, at Karachi Club (Main). I wish and hope that alarge amount of young and talented members and childrenwill participate and make us proud by sharing theirachievements with us.

Billiards & Snooker

The 21st Edition of KC Open Snooker Challenge 2017was organized at Amir Bux Snooker Room of the Clubfrom 15th August 2017. This being the primetournament in the Snooker Calendar of the Clubattracted lots of interest. As many as 62 club membersparticipated in both phases of the tournament. In thefirst phase Asad Kamani beat Ali Aqueel Suria by 4-1and won the title where as Hussain Ferozpur gothighest break title of 78 points. In the second phaseof the tournament Khurram Agha beat Agha Bilawalby 5-4 and won the title of the tournament where asZulfiqar Abdul Qadir got highest break title of 96 pointsand Ali Suria got special performance title ofthe tournament.

Chief Guest, President Karachi Club Ashfaq Yousuf Tola,Guest of Honor, Honorary Secretary Karachi Club JawedH. Karim and Managing Committee Member, A. RashidLehra (Jumbo) presented the prizes to the winnersand appreciated the efforts of Asim Ghani Usman,Convenor Billiards & Snooker and his team fororganizing such a wonderful tournament.

Health & Fitness

Karachi Club Health and Fitness Committee onceagain came up with another great awarenesssession especially for ladies members on “How ToStay Healthy After 40” by Prof. Dr. Rubina Hussain(FCPS, FRCOG - Dr. Ziauddin Hospital) on Saturday,9th September 2017. The members got completeinformation regarding their health care at the ageof 40. It was definitely a much needed andinformative seminar which enhanced theknowledge of members. Mohammad Arif Mithani,Chief Guest along with Mohammad Iqbal Godil,Member Managing Committee graced the

occasion with their presence. Hats off to AshfaqGhory and his team for organizing yet anotherwonderful event.

The excitement was all around the corners of KarachiClub (Main) lawn on Saturday, 16th September 2017,and the masterpiece performance by the veteransinger Zafar Ramay along with Farhat Khan andSavera Ali stole the show and the members speciallythe seniors were dancing and prancing moving and

grooving in enjoyment. The show was hosted byNoman Khan who by far was the right choice of thecommittee to lead the show. Members and theirfamilies were so delighted that they remained gluedto their places until 2:00 am. Members appreciatedConvener Entertainment and his committee fororganizing such a wonderful evening free of costfor members.

Swimming Pool

In line with tradition, the KC Swimming PoolCommittee organized an Intra-Club SwimmingCompetition on Saturday, 16th September 2017 atKC Annexe Swimming Pool. More than 150participants entered to compete in variouscategories. There were 7 groups in Beginnerscategory and 9 groups in Regulars. This time around,the championship was organized on the same dayfor both the categories and in an effort to make theevent better. The well organized event was gracedby the Honorary Secretary, Jawed H. Karim. He alongwith MC Members gave away the medals and group

champion trophies. The event was marked withenthusiastic participation of swimmers and theirfamilies which came to an end. All credit goes toAdnan Aziz Sakrani, Convenor Swimming Pool andhis team.

KC Table Tennis Sub-Committee organized the 1st KCDefence Day Table Tennis Tournament 2017, onWednesday, 6th September 2017 in which a total of70 players participated in 4 categories.

The Results of tournament are as follows:

The winner, runners up and semi finalists werepresented the mementos and prize money by theChief Guest, Mohammad Hanif Lakhani – FormerManaging Committee Member along with President,Ashfaq Yousuf Tola and Table Tennis Secretary MustafaKhalique. It is worth mentioning that although thecategory under 18 and men were not scheduled, yetthe entries were unexpected through which we canevaluate the interest of members in this sport as itwas the third and highly successful tournament ofTable Tennis in this year.
