The 2013 season saw many Keansburg Titan football players gain invaluable experience that will help them moving forward in their careers. At the beginning of the season, only 4 Titans on the roster had started in a Varsity game. By the end of this season, ten players earned Varsity Letters while 16 players made their first start in a Varsity game. This season saw every player who recorded a rushing, receiving and passing stat on offense set a new personal high for their careers. Kason Preston led the team in rushing, receiving and scoring. Arkeyel Brown led the team in passing yards and passing touchdowns. Joey Rodriguez led the team in total touchdowns with 8. On the defensive end, players also set multiple personal accomplishments. Dylan Alt led the team in tackles and tackles for loss from his linebacker position. Yacir James led the team with 4 interceptions. He was also top 3 in the Shore Conference in interceptions. Tyree Sutton led the team in sacks. This team saw significant overall improvement from the beginning of the season until the end. This improvement only scratched the surface of the talent level in the program. The continued improvement and the effort of our team in the weight room and in their winter/spring sports are key parts in preparing the Titans for next football season. Mandatory weight room will start on January 6th. It will be four days a week; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30 to 4pm. Anyone interested in becoming part of the Keansburg Football program must start in the winter! Please contact Coach Damian or Coach Wombough about playing football. If you play a sport during the winter, please let us know as that will count as the weight room requirements for the winter. Coach Damian and the Keansburg Football staff would like to thank our seniors for their time and dedication to the program this season. It was the coaching staff’s first year in the school so these seniors hold a special place in our heart. These seniors did their best to learn the new offensive and defensive systems that were installed. For this, we appreciate the 2013 senior football class!
Thank you FB Seniors!

The girls cross country team had a GREAT Season! The 2013 Girls Cross Country team consisted of 5 veteran runners (Kimberlee Switzer, Angela Osterbye, Elizabeth Connor, Julia Reis, and Dawn Zitzman), and 2 new runners (Ariana Giebler and Jesse Provino). The team ended the conference season with 3 wins over Ranney, Henry Hudson, and Point Pleasant Beach, and 2 losses to St. Rose and Asbury Park. They also won one out-of-conference meet against Neptune. In addition to their regular season meets, the girls also ran at the Passaic County Coaches Invitational, Shore Track Coaches Invitational, The Fall Classic Cross Country Meet, The Monmouth County Tournament and the Sectionals. All in all, the girls enjoyed themselves this season and grew as runners!
The 2013 boys cross team consisted of 2 veteran runners (Dylan Carson, and John Burnley) and key returner sophomore Aziel Rosado. The team also had 3 newcomers that worked hard to fill the gap in the lineup for the team this year, Senior Damien Zitzman, Junior Heribero Gomez, and Sophomore Austin Blum. The team had a successful season this year and finished with a record of 6-2. The team defeated Ranney, Pt. Beach, Henry Hudson, Keyport, Neptune, and Asbury. In addition to our team improving, we had one runner place in 3 invitational races this year. Senior, Dylan Carson placed at the Shore Coaches Invitational, Passaic Invitational, and the Old Bridge Classic. If you are interested in running next Fall, please contact Mr. DeTalvo.
The Varsity Cheerleading Squad danced their way
through the season! They practiced extremely hard
to master a complete half-time performance in time
for the 1st home game! The girls also showed off
their endurance and modern dance skills as they
participated in the Zumbathon at Bolger School to
help raise money for Autism Awareness. The squad
did an excellent job showing their TITAN spirit all
season! Congratulations and good luck to our senior
cheerleaders – Casey Kaiser, Alexis Carlson, Lyndsey
LeComte, and Merina Vaughn. Gooo Titans!
With one returning Junior this season, the Lady Titan Tennis team worked hard at rebuilding the entire season. The girls worked hard every practice learning the sport and how to play competitive tennis. As a young team, it is hoped that interest will grow stronger over the next several years. The ladies played hard every match improving with each set. The ladies also, donated a match to the support of the American Cancer Association Breast Cancer Research, dressing in pink and collecting donations. Mr. Lee is again running the Intramural program at Bolger School with hopes of getting more incoming freshmen girls interested in supporting the high school team. Mr. Iorio and the team are looking forward to having courts in town next season. With three courts in Keansburg, the team can now host matches at home! In time, plans for summer clinics and tournaments will evolve helping to establish a greater knowledge and fan base for the team. Any girl interested in playing tennis can see Mr. Iorio for any information.
The Bolger Cross Country team wrapped up
another exciting season. The Titans competed in a
very tough division with the likes of Monmouth
Beach and Rumson Fair Haven and although a win
was hard to come by, the Titans were not deterred
allowing their competitive spirit to shine through.
The Titans ran an eleven- race schedule with few
breaks. We picked up scrimmages with much
bigger schools including Howell and Freehold.
Through it all, the Titans ran on with their heads
held high. This year we had the highest
participation level that the program has seen in
over a decade. The team was 53 strong with the
majority of the squad being underclassmen. We
are looking forward to being very competitive next
year. Some highlights of the season include
Malorie Bell’s 4th, Deondre Burke’s 6th, Alysssa
Castera’s 6th, Eliana Garcia’s 8th, Devarie Holme’s
10th and Alexis Soto’s 11th place finish at the Run
for Roses, all medaling. We say goodbye to four
eighth grade girls and wish them well in high
school. We encourage the rest of our runners to
participate in other sports throughout the year and
to continue to run on their own to stay
conditioned.
Please contact Mrs. Lee or Ms. Sheehan for more
information about running next Fall!
The Keansburg Football program will be at the Keansburg
firehouse on November 23rd to help feed the homeless.
Players and coaches will donate their time to prepare and
serve food throughout the day. This is a great event and we
are very happy to be a part of this opportunity!
