Sears

The Sears Hometown Store is located at 340 East Laurel Avenue.

The store is owned and man-aged by Phil Young.

Eight employees make up the Sears of Eunice team. They are Donna Thibodeaux, Carolyn

Young, Saundra Guillory, Hillary Young, Bruce Miles, Shannon Aucoin, Cody LaCombe and Joey Buxton.

Phil Young has owned the store since 2004.

The Hometown Store is a retail sales center for home appliances, lawn & garden, electronics and household items and offers internet sales opportunity.

The store is open from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.

to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 12:30 p.m.

until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.Sears has been serving the

needs of the Eunice area for more than 50 years. The store first opened as a catalog store in May of 1954 and was located on Walnut Street.

It was later moved to the Amy Shopping Center and then to the Westgate Shopping Center.

In 1996, Sears decided to get out of catalogs and cata-log stores and opened locally owned dealer stores. Eunice was selected as a store site and it opened under the ownership of Marie and Jimmy Young in March of that year.

Phil and Judy Young, no rela-tion to the first owners, bought the store in 2004 and are cur-rently operating it with no intentions of selling or closing.

Sears moved from the dealer stores to the Hometown Stores concept over the past year, mak-ing a big push to keep the local stores open and viable in today’s economy and markets.

“Sears has been here for Eunice in the past and will continue to be here for Eunice in the future,” Phil Young said.

“We would like to thank everyone from Eunice, Mamou, Basile, Iota, Ville Platte and the surrounding area for their support.

“Without this support, we would not have been in busi-

ness this long. We appreciate our patrons who shop Eunice

first,” Young said.

Opening clubs at a rate of more than one per day, Anytime Fitness is rapidly expanding internationally and expects to open its 2000th club by the end of 2010. “We’re also one of the few fitness fran-chises to succeed in smaller popula-tion centers traditionally ignored by larger clubs. Inside each club, members will find top-notch equipment that is safe and easy-to-use. The equipment also spans the varying fitness levels of members, which ranges from beginner to elite.

ings and on their websites.Staff members provide new mem-

bers with comprehensive orientations of clubs and their equipment. Personal trainers available by appointment to help members devise an individualized exercise and nutritional program – regard-less of a member’s fitness level.

Anytime Fitness prides itself in offer-ing a friendly and supportive atmo-sphere in clean and well-maintained facilities, and it responds to all inqui-ries and requests within 24 hours. Anywhere Club Access means, if you join one Anytime Fitness club, then you can use any of the other clubs at no addition-al charge. That’s an extremely valuable option when you realize that there are more than 1,400 Anytime Fitness clubs all over the world.

Club members have made it clear that they love this benefit because it allows them to work out near their homes, near their workplaces and even when they travel.

In this way, Anytime Fitness is unique – no other fitness franchise offers the com-bination of 24-hour access and reciprocity between clubs.

Faith Christian Wor-ship Center is locat-ed at 301 N. Second Street, across from Pi-cou’s Drug Store in Eu-nice.

Pastors Heather and Cardell Ardoin, both natives of Eunice, are assisted by Associ-ate Pastors Beau and Bambi Ardoin and Children’s Ministry Directors Kwan and Tonya Frederick.

FCWC, a non-de-nominational, multi-cultural church, was established Feb. 2009, holds services Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

“With a casual and friendly atmosphere you will experience life-changing worship and messages relevant to your daily life. Our beliefs are simple. If it’s in the Bible then we believe it. If it’s not, then we don’t. Every-thing taught from our

pulpit can and will be backed by scripture to prove it,” the Ardoins said.

FCWC offers serveral ministries, including a nursery (ages 0 to 4), Truth Seekers (ages 5 to 12), and Frontline Youth ministry, (ages 12 to 25), Men’s Min-istry, Women’s Minis-try and the GOTCHA! Ministry.

GOTCHA! is an out-reach ministry by FCWC geared towards showing people the love of God through ran-dom acts of kindness; paying for someone else’s meal, mowing their lawn, or wash-ing a neighbor’s car, and then giving them a GOTCHA! card are all ways the ministry can be used to touch the lives of neighbors in Acadiana.

Pastor Heather Ar-doin said, “As Pastors, we are often faced with the misunderstanding

that the way we live for God comes easily and without cost because we have already done it. This is not the case for most people and it is certainly not the case for us.

“We want you to know that we don’t serve God as radically as we do be-cause we always knew who God was; we serve Him like this because at the lowest point in our lives He proved to us who He was. At that time in our lives, our marriage had fallen apart, we didn’t have a dime to our names, I was battling depres-sion, my husband was addicted to drugs and alcohol and my daugh-ter was deathly ill, the devil had us just where he wanted us; alone and overwhelmed.”

“We didn’t know what we needed, we just knew we needed a mir-acle and we needed one yesterday. God brought

people into our lives that KNEW Him and not just knew about Him. They understood His love, grace, mercy and POWER. They had the answer we needed and that answer was JESUS!. Since that time God has restored our marriage, healed our daughter, healed our emotions, brought complete freedom into my life as well as my

husband’s and taken us from a place of poverty and lack into a place of supernatural blessing,” she continued.

FCWC extends a spe-cial invitation to any-one who feels they need to be connected with people who know and understand the love, grace, mercy and pow-er of God.
