Keepsake Quilters Guild SCRAPS FROM THE KQ GUILD PRESIDENT SUE PLAGGE Greetings all! Our August meeting has kind of snuck up on us, but then it is a week earlier than usual. It’s nice to have had a break in the weather, and I hope you were all able to get out and enjoy it. If you’re like me, quilting takes a back seat to gardening, yard work and other outdoor activities in the summer. Although I did just finish two flannel quilts! What was I thinking working on flannel in the summer! Hope to see you at our meeting August 12 th . “Tips, Tricks, and Techniques from the President.” If you have trouble threading your sewing machine needle or any needle for that matter try this: for the sewing machine, place a small piece of white paper behind the needle with one hand and thread with the other. For sewing needles, use any white or very light colored background. It is important to sit directly in front of your line of sewing when sewing by machine. It will help make your seams straight as an arrow. If you sit even a little to one side or the other, your line of stitching will be just a bit off. Continue to stay Warm and Friendly! 2019 – 2020 PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE I thought I would review the guidelines for the challenge. You must use some of the colors on the page you tore out of the magazine. You do not need to use all of the colors on the page and you can add other colors. What you make is totally up to you. It could be a bag, a quilt, a table runner or topper, or a wall hanging. Be creative and have fun. QUILT TO SHARE Quilts to Share Work Days are held each Monday of the month, except the third Monday, from 9am to 3 pm. Stop in to work with others on QTS projects for all or part of the day. Sewing machines and all supplies are available. Nothing to prepare, no machine to drag around, just come. Please bring a sack lunch if you are planning to be there at noon. If you are unable to come on QTS work days and need kits, fabric to launder, or quilts to quilt on your own, just give me a call. Location: 4803 Cedar Heights DR.
