Training Sponsor: Kentucky Rural Water AssociationSession Title: 2015 Operator EXPODate: May 12-13, 2015Location: Hardin County Fairgrounds, Glendale, Kentucky

Learning Objective: The objective of these sessions is to introduce processes and procedures that will enhance operationsof water and wastewater utilities. Through classroom instruction and small group demonstrations, attendees will gainknowledge ofproducts, services and procedures that will add to their knowledge and have a positive impact on jobperformance.

Criteria for Training Credits: Attendees will be granted credit for actual time attending training sessions. The EXPOwill offer a total of 10 horns for drinking water and 9.5 hours for wastewater, however, the maximum number of credithours that can be eamed will be six (6) hours for drinking water and six (6) hours for wastewater (three horns on Tuesdayafternoon and three hours on Wednesday morning). An individual sheet will be provided to record attendance at eachsession. This sheet will be stamped by KRWA personnel after the completion of each session and turned in at the close ofthe EXPO in order to receive continuing education credit.

Topics will include the theoriesand principals of how they work, where they are best used, where they are not needed, benefits for controlling pressures inwater mains and sewer force mains, and reduced electrical tisage.

Session 2—Site D 2:10 p.m. - 3:40 p.m. 1.5 hr. DWAVW/CommissionerTopic: Laboratory Analysis for Water and WastewaterPresenter: Ted Simmons, Hach CompanyDescription: This session will cover a munber of analyses typically performed by water & wastewater operators in thetreatment plants & distribution/collectionsystems. Topics will include the methods for running the analyses, how theanalytical equipment operates, calibrations, and steps involved for completion of the analyses. Also included will be theproper care and cleaning of laboratory analytical equipment and associated hardware.

Hisworkwith municipalities, utilitydistricts, and communitywater systems has allowedhimto combine histalents as an engineer, attorney, and water distribution operator to create efficient designs and Innovativesolutions within theframework of the government legal and financial systems. Seth earned a Bachelor of Science InAgriculturalEngineeringfrom theUniversity ofTennessee, a Master of Science InBlosystemsEngineeringalso fromthe University ofTennessee, and a DoctorofJurisprudence Degree from the NashvilleSchool of Law.
