Happy Holiday and New Year!!

I wish each of you a prosperous and healthy new year. After Christmas I start to turn my attention to the January shows. It looks like the activities are moving along. Nancy has done a terrific job on the calendar. Can’t wait to get mine!! The trophies are in and if you are on facebook you have already seen some of the great items that will be in our boutique. If you have things that you would like to donate to the boutique or raffle please contact Barb Beuter. REMEMBER – this year we are going to try something different. The general meeting will be at our Friday evening get together held at

through heartworm treatment and veterinarians report all health results are good. Thank you, George and Tuesday Hanna for assisting with this placement. 2011 Specialty: The judges, catalog, and all provided information has been approved. Anthony will continue to work with the host club to coordinate ring times so that our club luncheon and boutique can follow judging. There will be a general meeting Friday night with hospitality for all those that can attend. Barb Beuter will be chairing our boutique and coordinating items for the auction/raffle. Please consider donating items and contact her with your item list to make this a fun and successful event! Help will be needed on Saturday morning to set up items in preparation for the luncheon. Anyone interested in helping, please see Linda Lopez. Nancy Vance sent a thank you card to Mary Manning and the host club for providing our tents at no charge. The club has decided to have a banner available with the club logo and year embroidered on it for all to 'sign in' during the weekend for posterity. Over the past few months, our "Kerry family" has lost some of its members. Please take a moment to sign your name, kennel name and any sentiment you wish to leave. This is something the club wishes to hang at specialties for years to come. 2011 Calendar/DayPlanner Fund Raiser: Nancy Vance reports that most weeks have been reserved for the calendar. Final photo/directory submissions need to be forwarded to her by December 1st for printing. Calendars will be ready to distribute at the January specialty. Breeder's Web Page: The club membership is encouraged to send in any information regarding show results, litter announcements, and brags to Nancy Vance for page design and FREE advertisement on the club website and newsletter. Opportunities like this are rare--please take advantage of this occasion to share! Judges Seminar: Barb Beuter is trying to coordinate with Judy Agnew the seminar for AKC approved judges. It is undetermined exactly how to promote this but ideas are in the works to host this in January at the Brooksville circuit. Breeders and exhibiotrs are encouraged to attend--this is not limited strictly to judges!! Junior Spotlight: It was announced that Barb Beuter would like to feature KBT

Minutes for Regularly Scheduled General Membership Meeting of

the Kerry Blue Terrier Club of Central Florida at the Henando

Kennel Club Show Saturday 11-13-10

Linda called meeting to order at 2:50 pm and all present were: Chris Cagle, Carol Postley, Steve and Connie Adams, Walter and Barb Bates, Bob Roth, Linda Pheasant, Ron Ronald, George and Tuesday Hanna, Reatha and Jim Omodio, Ginger Payson, B/B Beuter, Anthony and Linda Lopez and Nancy, McKenna, Harrison and Kevin Vance. Guests attending were: Louise Piche, Rick Tuggle, and Jane Heigle. The membership accepted and approved both the minutes and treasurer's report from the previous meeting. Membership - The club voted in new members Rick and Janet Tuggle. Please welcome them to our 'family'. A new application for membership was submitted by Louise Piche and will be presented in January to the Board. Treasurer Report account has been established at new bank and with little additional activity since last report. The Board suggested to the membership that the club become members of the local FAKC (Florida Assoc. of Kennel Clubs) an organization that supports purebred dog education, legislation, disaster rescue and local club support specifically in the state of Florida. The cost is nominal and all agreed to joining the FAKC. The Sunshine Committee reports that Eva Hansen and Paula Macleod are recovering from recent surgery. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. eNewsletter: Some club members have not yet responded to the request to formally approve this method of club communication. Please respond to Anthony Lopez with written permission to accept the newsletter by email in order to meet AKC club requirements. Rescue Committee reports that a Florida Kerry-mix was recently placed into a loving forever home and now resides in Ohio. The dog has gone

Junior Handlers in the National club's BluePrints featuring a "Spotlight on Our Future". Lisa Franklin's daughter will be featured in the first edition. The Board unanimously voted to re-instate previous member Betty Ann Clayton, as her membership had not been renewed timely, and she was a member in good standing. The Nominating Committe appointed Judy Agnew as chairman. Volunteers for this committee are Tuesday Hanna and Ron Ronald with Rick Tuggle and Steve Adams as alternates. Looking for a way to support the

club??? During the June meeting it was decided that we would approach the Specialty the same way we did last year and run it by committee. We are all very busy and it is hard for one person to coordinate everything, so we have setup committees to share the responsibilities. I have agreed to act as the chairperson and the necessary paperwork has already been filed with and approved by the AKC and the USKBTC. The plans are moving right along. An Ad has been placed in Blueprints to provide information on the January Specialty. I have booked 25 rooms at the Day Inn for visiting Kerry people and Nancy Vance and Barbara Bates have all the trophies on order. The trophy list has already been sent into the CLEARWATER KENNEL CLUB for the premium list. The tent has already been reserved and the Cluster committee has agreed to let us use the tent at NO COST. Our Secretary Nance Vance has sent a letter the Mary Manning Stolz the Florida Classic Cluster Coordinator thanking her for our club. Reatha Omodio has volunteered to handle ordering the chairs, tables and the heater. The club voted again to have BBQ for the hospitality lunch and I have already made these arrangements with John Verville who is an AWARD WINNING BBQ Chef who competes on the professional BBQ circuit.

· Auction/Raffle/Boutique – Please contact Barb Beuter she will need help setting up the Boutique or have items to donate.

· Tent/Grounds - Help with the setup and tear down (tables & chairs) of the hospitality tent: Decorating, etc. Contact Reatha Omodio or Anthony Lopez

AKC DELEGATE'S MEETING

Long Beach, CA

December 7, 2010 The December 2010 AKC Delegate's Meeting was called to order at 10:00AM on December 7, 2010. Following approval of the September 2010 meeting minutes the new Delegates were introduced. There are approximately 5000 event giving Clubs who are either members or licensed by AKC. Chairman's Report Ron Menaker's Chairman's Report focused on the accomplishments of the American Kennel Club in 2010. I am going to post the entire set of comments to the list as I feel they deserve to be read. We are doing a number of out of the box things to deal with issues in the sport. Read his comments and I will be please to discuss AKC in detail with any of you..p lease call or send an email. Don't forget that the AKC-Eukanuba Invitational will be televised on Sunday evening, January 23 on ABC. President's Report Dennis Sprung's report focused on the Breeder of Merit program, the impact of Meet the Breeds, Canine Good Citizen (40,000 dogs received their CGC in 2010), and other initiatives to build our sport. Finance Report Year End Financial Report as of October 31, 2010 (millions) 2010 relative to 2009 Revenue -6% Expenses -4% Net Income -$1,026 Investment $'s $3.7 M $ 2.6M profit Litter registrations were down 11% while dogs registered were down 12%....an extremely "scary" number. This means declines of over 20% the last 2 years. Headcount was reduced 14% over past 5 years and benefit costs by $5.3 million. Core revenues continue to decline..to put this in perspective in 2005 72% of revenue was from operations, in 2006 it had declined to 49% and continues to decline. The bottom-line is that our core business is in trouble. If

this trend continues we will be loosing money on operations within the next 2 years and if, for some reason, the stock market fails to continue its recovery the AKC will be in the red using reserves to cover costs. That said, the American Kennel Club is in strong financial position but will remain so only with initiatives to grow the top line of the business and continue to control expenses. Candidates for the Board of Directors gave their speeches at this meeting.. There were 2 rule changes read for vote in March.neither are significant. The proposal to provide the option to schedule breeds after lunch as the show giving clubs option. My personal view was a bad idea. Although a club can opt out it could have unintended consequences in a number of areas. This proposal was withdrawn and not voted on. I gave a report on the AKC PAC and how it can benefit our legislative initiatives. Please email or call if you have any questions..and get those PUPS registered.
