We can’t believe how quickly this term has gone— it seems no time ago since Christmas and now we are almost Summer Term. The chil-dren have had a wonderful term of learning. We hope parents of chil-dren from Reception to Year 6 took the opportunity of coming in to see your class teachers this week to discuss your child’s progress. Apolo-gies to the parents of Class 1B who missed Wednesday’s appointments due to Ms Brotherwood being un-well; we will rearrange with you af-ter Easter. If you came into school, we hope you also took the oppor-tunity of looking at our wonderful displays of children’s learning. We are very proud of all our children at school and welcome the oppor-tunity of displaying their fantastic work.

We would like to take this oppor-tunity of thanking you for your sup-port—from reading with your child each day, helping to bake bread at school, to overseeing home learning. From supporting your child singing at the Royal Festival Hall and other musical events to learning how well our instrumental-ists are faring at our Spring Con-cert. Your support of our cricket and football teams has also been fantastic at the matches they have participated in.

The school would not be the won-derful place it is without your su-perb support, which is very much appreciated.

We would like to wish you a very happy Easter break; we hope the weather is kind. Don’t forget—children are back on 19 April!

Today has been very sad as we say goodbye to Mrs Akindele, one of our Year 2 teachers, who is moving abroad. We thank Mrs Akindele for her hard work and commitment to children’s learning at Deansfield, and we are sure that you will join us in sending her our very best wishes for the future.

Year 5’s De-sign and Technology topic this term has been breadmak-ing—designing

their bread and making it! Thank you for your support of this project by sending in baking trays etc when required, togeth-er with additional toppings which the children have used in their design. Thank you also to those parents who have come in to help the children in their ef-forts. The smell of fresh bread baking has been mouth watering. We hope you get to enjoy it at home!

We hear from the DPA today that a marvellous £1044 was raised from the vey enjoyable quiz night last Friday. Well done both to the winning team through to the team with the wooden spoon. A very enjoyable evening.

We hope you will also support the Cake Sale after school today. Please come along and buy an Easter Cake.

Maths Challenge! Last week, our Puzzle was: What day do you go back to school, Horace?" asked his grandmother one day. "Well," Horace replied, "Nine days ago, the day before yesterday was three weeks before the second day of term." If Horace had this conversation on a Sunday, what day of the week did he start school?

Our solution is: Today is Sunday. So seven days ago was Sunday too. That means that NINE days ago was Friday. On Friday, the day before yesterday was Wednesday. Three weeks later is Wednesday again. That is the second day of term. So the term began on Tuesday.

Today’s puzzle to keep you guessing over the Easter Break is: I am thinking of one of these five cards:

You have to try to find out which one I am thinking of. Here are some clues: i) The value of my card is a prime number. ii) The values of my two neighbours add up to a multiple of 3. iii) My card is next to a card which is next to the 2 of hearts.

Look out for the solution after Easter. Good luck!
