Productivity measuring tool (PMT)
▪ Labour Productivity measures any types
of construction methods as its parameters
only consider GFA and man day.
▪ The more gross floor area a manpower can
construct in a short period of time, the more
productive the construction project is.
OVERALL PRODUCTIVITY
Labour Productivity
Productivity Rate = Gross Floor Area (GFA)
Man-day
*GFA includes the total property square footage including
finished areas inside the property such as common areas,
lobbies, stairwells and etc.
*1 man-day = 1 manpower working for 1 day
Man-day = (no of workers/day) x (construction period)
GRADE PRODUCTIVITY RATE
(sq ft/man-day)
A 7.5 ≤ x < 10
B 5.0 ≤ x < 7.5
C 2.5 ≤ x < 5.0
D 0 ≤ x < 2.5

CURRENT IBS PRODUCTIVITY IN MALAYSIA
IBS Automated and robotic has productivity score more than 8.0 sq ft / man-day. Hence, robotics is important in driving the construction industry towards greater productivity.
Productivity rate in Malaysia:Conventional = 2.3 sq ft/man-day
Precast concrete system = 5.0 – 8.0 sq ft/man-day
Automated and robotic = > 8.0 sq ft/man-day

Recommendations
To encourage use of standard design (DeLIGHT, MyIOS, MySERENE, D3) for affordable housing projects.
Mandatory to obtain QLASSIC certification for affordable housing.
To achieve Productivity rating at least 6.0
To embark Construction 4.0:• Prefabrication and modular construction• Advanced building materials• Building information modelling

▪ Currently, the industry is at medium level of
prefabrication adoption but is heading into a more
rapid implementation of IBS in future.
▪ Advanced technology and modern methods of
construction using prefabrication and offsite
construction are needed to cope with current
global construction industry.
▪ CIDB and industry must work hand in hand to
implementing IBS in the ground level to delivering
efficient, sustainable and productive construction
environment by resolving the issues and
challenging for implementation of IBS.
CONCLUSION
