High Power 12" Two-way

Multiple AngleSpeaker System

The KI-272 is a high power loudspeaker solution for limited spaceinstallations, where angled mountingis required. The speaker is perfect for

angled wall, corner, ceiling or under-balcony mounting in theaters,

clubs, churches and schools. The KI-272 also lends itself to slanted floor

or shelf mount use in high power permanent install or corporate A/V

production environments, whereoblique angle projection is required.

Able to hang three-high using 12built-in 3/8" 16-thread, commerciallyavailable rigging bar-compatible fly

points, the KI-272 provides the performance and reliability for

which Klipsch is known.

The 13-ply Baltic Birch void-free plywood enclosure uses dado

“lock-joint” and rabbet constructiontechniques on CNC-fabricated panels

for long-term reliability and ruggedness.

To limit potential damage to the high frequency driver, the internal

high-current passive full-range or bi-ampable crossover features the

KLIP-circuit, a proprietary high-powerthermal overload system. Signal

connection is with dual parallel-wiredNeutrik NL-4 Speakon panel

mount jacks.

The KI-272 is covered by the Klipschlimited five-year warranty.

A r c h i t e c t u r a l S p e c i f i c a t i o n sThe KI-272 compact, high power, multiple angle loudspeakersystem shall include a 12" (304.8mm) K-42-KP low-frequencytransducer utilizing a 2.5" (63.5mm) voice coil and 77-ounce(2.18kg) magnet, and a high-frequency K-52-TI 1.5" (38.1mm)titanium diaphragm 20-ounce (622g) magnet compressiondriver mounted on a 60˚ X 40˚ heavy-duty, injection moldedTractrix Horn. Signal shall be applied to the transducers via apassive internal frequency-dividing network, incorporating aKLIP-circuit for signal overload protection of the high-frequency transducer. The enclosure tuning shall be of a vented design.

Frequency response shall be 67Hz to 12.5kHz, ±4dB, with the-10dB point at 50Hz, measured at three meters, half-spaceanechoic. The high-frequency dispersion angle shall be 60˚horizontal by 40˚ vertical nominal (refer to graph). Directivityshall be 9dB (refer to graph). Sensitivity shall be 101dB SPL,measured at one meter, half-space anechoic, with a 2.83Vinput. Power handling shall be 250 watts (41.5 volts), to AESstandards, continuous pink noise, 50Hz to 10kHz, 6dB peaks.Maximum continuous output at one meter shall be 125dBSPL. Nominal impedance shall be 8 ohms, with 6.8 ohms minimum at 180Hz.

The internal passive crossover frequency shall be 1.4kHz, withslopes of 12dB/octave for the low frequency and 18dB/octavefor the high frequency. The crossover may be modified for bi-amp application by cutting two easy-access internal wires.Signal connections shall be made via two parallel-wiredNeutrik NL-4 Speakon panel mount jacks.

The enclosure panels shall be CNC-fabricated, 18mm, 13-plyBaltic Birch void-free plywood, assembled utilizing rabbetand dado joinery. The motorboard baffle shall be 1" (25.4mm)11-ply birch plywood. Dimensions for the enclosure shall be23" (58.42cm) high by 16.5" (41.91cm) deep by 16.813"(42.705cm) wide in a asymmetrical trapezoidal shape, withside panels angled at 65˚ and 45˚. Weight shall be 52 lbs.(23.608kg). The top and bottom panels shall be radiused, witha curved metal perforated grille for structural integrity andprotection of the transducers from impact and tampering.

Enclosure flying capability shall be provided via 12 internal3/8" 16-thread mounting points, three per top, bottom and bothsides, with commercially available rigging bar compatibility.

The enclosure finish shall be lacquer-based primer and lacquer-based texture, with a black or white finish. The enclosure shall also be available unfinished in raw birch.

The system shall be a Klipsch KI-272 loudspeaker.
