• Wanting to do something new with your kids this summer? Are you budgeting and wanting to save some money in summer? Well, parents out there would be glad to know that it isn’t as daunting to start your own summer camp as you may think. All it takes is the collective effort of a few interested parents, to organize a camp custom tailored to meet the needs of kids as well as parents.

• Parents consistently ask our school administration and staff on how they can continue to be involved with their children during summer months. So, we’ve pulled together a few simple steps to get them started with their own summer camp.

Decide on Your Location

• As soon as the idea of organizing a summer camp strikes your mind, embark on your location-hunt.

• Starting beforehand will make sure you get enough time to select a suitable location for camping.

• If you live in a housing society, there must be a communal space where you can get your kids camping.

• In addition, you can look for neighborhood churches, camping resorts, community centers, parks and other organizations that offer rental spaces for meetings and events.

Have a Theme

• Figuring out what all is going to happen at your camp is a vital consideration. Pick a theme for each day and decide on fun and learning activities accordingly.

• Creating a schedule for different activities and the day is another must-do.

• What’s more, have well-defined rules to keep things organized and running as scheduled.

Choosing Campers and the Staff

• Once you’ve decided on your location and other factors, it’s time to look for the camp staff.

• Include parents who wish to volunteer and can handle varied departments like meals, financial part, fun activities and hygiene and sanitation. Additionally, you can hire outsiders for roles like teen counselling and kids training for your camp.

• And here’s one last advice, try to be a kid yourself when in camp and nothing would thrill your kids more.
