  • Principal’s News

Jump Rope for Heart On Friday the 23rd of October we held our annual Jump Rope for Heart ‘Jump Off’ event in support of the Heart Foundation. PPS has a very long standing relationship with the Heart Foundation and our school community has once again shown strong support for this charity. The children had a fantastic day of skipping and having fun outside with their classmates. Some children demonstrated some amazing skipping moves as well as skipped on their own or in groups. Thank you to all our PPS families for your support of this event; we raised $782. I’d like to thank Mrs Battaerd and Mrs Richards for coordinating this event.

  • Kindergarten Orientation This Thursday is the first stage of our 2021 Kindergarten Orientation program. Our new 2021 kindergarten children will be attending the school to participate in an interactive session in our kindergarten classrooms. These kindergarten orientation visits enable our new kindy children to become familiar with our school and teachers as well as provides us with an opportunity to begin to get to know these children. This is an exciting time for our school and we are all looking forward to meeting our new 2021 kindergarten children. Years 5 and 6 Camp Our Stage 3 students are currently on a three day camp at the Great Aussie Bush Camp in Tea Gardens. Over the three day camp the children will participate in a variety of outdoor activities like, canoeing, flying fox, archery, mud run, commando as well as some team building activities. We are fortunate to have been able to provide this overnight camp experience for our Years 5 and 6 students. I’d like to thank Mrs Herbert for coordinating this camp and all the teachers in attendance for giving up three days to facilitate this opportunity for our students.

World Teachers Day Last Friday we celebrated World Teachers Day. All over the world teachers’ work in supporting students and families during this challenging time of a global pandemic has been acknowledged and praised. Our teachers have provided much needed continuity of learning and support for families throughout this year. At PPS we have highly dedicated, skilled and caring teachers who value and care for each and every child in our school. I’d like to acknowledge and thank our teachers for their continued hard work and care shown to our students each and every day.

School Sport Students in Years 3-6 have been enjoying their school sports activities on a Friday. We have been fortunate to have received a ‘Sporting Schools’ grant which has given us access to coaches from a variety of sports including badmington, netball and orienteering. Students have been enjoying the opportunity to learn new skills and participate in fun and engaging activities. Year 3 Gardening Last week, students in 3W planted a new tree in the garden along the Crown Rd fenceline. The tree, a Euky Dwarf, was donated by their classroom teacher Mrs Yvonne Wilson. Mrs Wilson has dedicated many hours to environmental sustainability at PPS and has been pivotal in supporting students in our gardening club. We are so lucky to have such a passionate teacher sharing her love of the environment with our students.

    Band News

Joining Band in 2021 Year 2s it is time to get excited! Performance Ensemble (year 5&6) will be playing in a special performance for the Year 2 during school time on Monday in week 5. After the performance all students will receive a form to fill out about joining band. Details of a Zoom meeting will be sent out for parents and students to hear more from our committee about joining band. In the meantime, check out the NSW Police Band and see which instruments you like. https://www.nswpolicebandwelcometotheband.com/?fbclid=IwAR1nNiS8z4_FVnC_SpC4ejlKuLWr3sedV7IxPP9A5n_BYTWcYgKIHynSriU# Band Committee Get in quick to join the PPS Band Committee for 2021. The role of Treasurer has already been snapped up but we are still looking for someone to coordinate the instruments. You don’t need to know a lot about instruments for this role. It is more about managing who gets what and ensuring the servicing takes place. Performance for Friends and Family We are so proud of what all the bands have achieved this year, we are working really hard to ensure family and friends will have an opportunity to hear the bands play before the end of the year. We are aiming for the afternoon of Sunday 6 th December, most likely online. Please keep this free for the kids and anyone who would like to see the bands.
