PBL Focus- Owning your Actions and Accepting

Responsibility

This week our PBL focus in the classroom and out in the

playground is ‘Owning your actions and accepting

responsibility’. This is linked to our KSPS value of being

Proud. All of our students have participated in lessons where

they have developed their skills taking responsibility for their

actions. This is an important skill that they will use throughout

their life.

Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Student Survey

I have included a graph from our recent TTFM student survey.

This graph is linked to social and emotional learning. Over

80% of students at KSPS feel accepted and valued by their

peers and by others at their school. In the next couple of

weeks we will talk with our students to work out what else we

can do in 2017 to increase everyone’s sense of belonging and

connection to our great school. In the coming weeks, I will

include some other graphs from our parent and teacher

survey.

Kinder Orientation

Tomorrow will see the first in our 2017 Kindergarten

Orientation and Parent Information Sessions commence. I am

looking forward to seeing all of our 2017 Kinder parents in the

Hall at 9:30am. After the information session we will have a

morning tea.

Thank you for your continued support.

Ruby Represents NSW and Comes Home

with Silver

Last week Ruby and her mum set off on a trip to

Perth so Ruby could participate in the national

competition for Touch Football. She was lucky

enough to meet the Captain of the Australian Touch

Football Women’s Team, Lizzi Campbell. Ruby

showed how talented she was by being chosen to

be a representative of the NSW team. Ruby played

7 games and scored 18 tries. NSW came up against

a very strong QLD side in the Grand Final. After a

fantastic game by both teams QLD came out

winners with the score 6 to 0 which left NSW placing

second out of all the State teams. Such a great

effort!

Ruby came back to school Monday and spoke to all

our students about her experience and also brought

in her silver medal to show everyone.

Congratulations Ruby, you have made NSW and

KSPS proud.

Veggie Patch

Excitement

On Monday

students of S2S

found friends of

the amphibian

kind in our School

veggie patch.

Did you know frogs are a sign of a very healthy

garden? One important aspect of frogs regarding

gardens is that they eat insects. Having a good

variety of insectavores around limits the amount of

control needed for other insect control.

Celebrating Grandparents at KSPS

Due to the rescheduling of the Kindergarten Zoo

Excursion we have changed the date of our

Grandparents Afternoon.

On Thursday 17th November we would like to invite

all grandparents to join us for a very special

afternoon to celebrate the important role you play in

the lives of your grandchildren.

Please join us for afternoon tea in 'Harry's Garden'

from 1.30pm. You are then welcome to join your

grandchildren for our afternoon teaching session

which will be held in their CAPA groups. You will get

the opportunity to see their creative side as they

participate in a range of activities from photography

and woodwork to music and art. Feel free to be

hands on and join in!

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

World Teachers Day

Last Friday we celebrated World Teachers Day.

Here at King Street Public School we are extremely

fortunate to have dedicated teachers who nurture,

teach, mentor and guide our students through their

primary years. Our teachers come with all sorts of

teaching styles, but with one common passion- to

maximise the success and wellbeing of our children.

Thank you to all our fabulous KSPS teachers for all

that you do.

Kindergarten Orientation this Thursday

This Thursday we look forward to welcoming 2017

Kindergarten students to our Kindergarten

Orientation.

The Orientation will involve a Parent Information

Session in our hall beginning at 9.30am. Please take

children to the infant’s classrooms where they will be

welcomed by our staff and have a great morning

taking part in various activities. Once they are

settled please make your way to the hall.

After the Parent Information Session we would like

to invite all parents/carers to join us for morning tea,

before picking up your children at approximately

11.15am.

The weekly Transition Program has been an

outstanding success with the children settling

beautifully and really immersing themselves into the

school routine. Thursday's Orientation will

complement this program and allow more of our staff

to interact with the students. It is also an opportunity

for parents to meet other families. If you have any

questions regarding Thursday's Orientation please

do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.

The Studies of ‘Earth, Sun and Moon’ in S2S

This term S2S have been studying ‘Earth, Sun and

Moon’ in their Science lessons. On Tuesday they

had the pleasure of Ms Tolmie in their classroom

once again and conducted an experiment exploring

the pull of gravity. They made parachutes from a

variety of materials and had fun ‘racing’ their

creations on our equipment. They all enjoyed this

hands on experiment immensely.

2017 Captain Nominations Begin

We had a huge number of nominations for the

positions of 2017 School Captains.

We want to commend all the year 5 students that

nominated as this is a reflection of how proud our

students are of our school and their willingness to

represent their fellow students as their leader. The

quality of candidates was excellent.

The Captains speeches will be held in the hall on

Wednesday 16th November at 9.30am. Everyone is

welcome to come and support our final 12

nominees. Students will vote directly after the

nominee’s speeches.

Students Combine with the Singleton

Musical Community for a Fabulous Event

entertainment.

at the Singleton Civic Centre

at 6.30pm. Cost: Adults- $12,
