All students and staff who are feeling unwell or showing any flu symptoms are being asked to stay home. In addition to these measures, I ask that all parents support the school by observing social distancing when on site, and only entering the school grounds when it is essential. Please work with the school to help us keep all students and staff safe.

Welcome Back Years 2-6

Welcome to Week 6 and the return to our regular schooling model – with all year levels able to attend for the first time since March 27th. It’s been a lengthy break in the name of keeping our community healthy and free of disease. In this regard, we have been incredibly successful- the envy of many other places around the world. We certainly are a lucky country and our leaders have provided a great platform for us to work from. During the remote learning phase, we worked hard as a community to maintain the important feelings of connection and belonging. Our school is normally a very busy and social place but the changed conditions challenged our regular engagement strategies. We used paper curriculum packs and online classrooms (Ed-studios and OneNote) to support students who were learning @ home. We used the school’s Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as email and texts to communicate with our families. Teachers also regularly called families directly to touch base with parents and students. These strategies kept us connected and kept lines of communication open. It has been great to have our school filled with students again. Please send your child to school unless they are unwell. If you are keeping your child at home because of concerns about COVID-19 please make sure you contact the office so we can mark our attendance rolls accordingly.

Parents Social Distancing at School

With all students returning to school this weeks, the Department of Education has asked schools to ensure that parents are made aware of current health guidelines with regards to adults physical distancing on school grounds. These guidelines include;

 Parents/carers do not unnecessarily enter

the school grounds

 Physical distancing is maintained during

student drop off and pick up

Parents not gather before or after school in

groups

Families use our ‘stop, drop and go’ zone on

Alford St when possible

Please do not hesitate to contact the school on 4160 4333 if you have any questions relating to these social distancing guidelines. Health & Hygiene

Queensland has been very successful in slowing the spread of COVID-19 within our state. However it is important that as a school and a wider community, that we do not become complacent. Our school is well stocked with hand soap and sanitizer, and all students are washing their hands at the beginning and end of every session (6 times per day). We have additional cleaners working throughout the day to ensure that high usage/contact areas are being constantly cleaned. All students and staff who are feeling unwell or showing any flu symptoms are being asked to stay home. In addition to these measures, I ask that all parents support the school by observing social distancing when on site, and only entering the school grounds when it is essential. Please work with the school to help us keep all students and staff safe.

Tuckshop – QKR App

Our Tuckshop re-opened today, for online lunch orders only. This system ran very smoothly and feedback I have had from parents was that the QKR app was very easy to use and download. Please find information about how to download and use this app attached. Message from the Guidance Officer: Online Safety

This is a very serious subject and sadly one of the main issues

our community faces in terms of child protection. There has

been an increase in reports of online sexual predators

reaching out to children through social media. With this in

mind, it is vital for parents and teachers to talk about online

personal safety with children.

How you protect your child?

• Stay involved in your child’s digital world

• Build an open trusting relationship

• Help your child protect their privacy

• Teach your child to be alert to signs of inappropriate

contact

• Establish safety guidelines and rules for online use

What to do if something goes wrong?

Talk to your child calmly and make them feel like they can

come to you with anything, without fear of consequence. Find

out what happened and act to protect your child. Report abuse

or online grooming to your local police. Get help and support

for your child from a professional counselling service – this can

include referral to Guidance Officer at school.

Farm Safety Competition

We have been entering this competition for many years now and Kingaroy S.S. has had success a few times. https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au/farm-safety-calendar-competition/the-competition

How to enter - worksafe.qld.gov.au - WorkSafe Queensland Queensland primary school students are encouraged to draw and colour a picture to illustrate a farm safety message. Drawing is a great distraction for children during these trying times. Whether students are at school or home, they can enter the competition. Entries should be submitted on white paper, using the competition template. www.worksafe.qld.gov.au

From the P & C

Dear parents due to COVID-19 we were unable to run our annual Mothers’ Day Stall so we have decided to have a belated stall for children to buy something special for mum or dad to thank them for helping them at home with their learning. The stall will be operating on the 12th June from 9.00am and 2.30pm. Gifts will be range from $2 to $10.00.

From the Tuckshop

The Kingaroy State School P&C are happy to announce the tuckshop will be opened again on Wednesday 27th of May. To keep us all safe the Tuckshop has gone cashless. The QKR app is the only way to

order. Download the QKR app from the app store and follow the prompts.
