new HEIGHTS
2011
Are you ready? Are you expec.ng new heights in God in 2011. As we begin the year 2011, it is impera.ve:
That you know the significance of the Lord. That you hear His voice. That you understand the spiritual tes:ng that the Lord has planned for you.
There is a bridal cry rising up from believers everywhere…a deep longing and insa.able hunger for a fresh outpouring of His Holy Spirit and manifesta.on of His Presence. I pray that Holy Spirit will open our spiritual eyes so that we will be able to see beyond the limita.ons of our minds, tradi.ons or religious form. That He would take us as a church beyond our so limited experience to new places and posi.ons in Him. Don’t limit what God has planned, des.ned to do in your life, your family, your business, your school in 2011. Don’t allow unbelief to stop you from aKaining new heights in God. In 2011, we must strive, contend, fight and wrestle in fervent earnest prayer un.l those new heights are aKained.
Blessing,Pastor Bob

As a younger man, I struggled with the death of a close family member. As a result, I made several bad choices that kept me running from God. Thankfully, because of His Grace, He used different influences and people in my life to bring me back into rela.onship with Him.I am learning the meaning of my life, that it truly is not my own, what it means to bear the cross of Christ, and to make disciples that will follow wholeheartedly aQer the Lord. God has placed a passion in my life to see hur.ng and troubled youth come back to Him. I am so thankful for the work that God has done in me, and through me, and I look forward to being a servant to those around me.
Pastor Adam HoskinsYouth Ministry
At the age of 16, I realized that God was calling me into the ministry of worship through songs. It was very in.mida.ng and exci.ng at the same .me. The thought that this GREAT God wants to use me s.ll amazes me to this day. God is teaching me everyday what it means to be a servant, and that before we can be a minister, we need to be servants, who give without expec.ng anything in return.
I thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him and the Body of Christ at Global Kingdom Ministries,a church that loves Him very much. Let's con.nue to seek His face as He con.nues to pour Himself into us.

EMPOWERING YOUTH
God has been faithful in the past months as there have been many changes in Youth Ministry. We have seen the move of the Lord in mighty ways in the lives of the youth and the leaders, and we are so excited to see what the new year holds.
This year we hope to focus on discipleship. As leadership, we believe that the youth do not need another voice telling them what to do, how
to act or what choices to make. Rather we see ourselves walking alongside them in their walk with Christ.
Keeping with the vision of GKM to encourage faith at home, our emphasis this season will be to empower the young people to live out their faith vibrantly, starting in the home. We are so excited to see growth in the lives of the young people as we journey with them through the challenges and triumphs of life.

Show & Tell
Thurs. Jan. 13 @7:30pm
Have you ever seen a line of ants going from one place to another. A steady stream of ants gathering food and taking it back to their fort. Non-‐stop, all day long, going back and forth, back and forth. Their sole existence is to go back and forth, not stopping, not looking back, just gathering food and taking it home. As a child, I remember sometimes placing a rock or something right in the middle of their path. But that didn’t stop them! They just found another path right around the barrier. Sometimes I feel that is what our live’s are like. We go back and forth, back and forth, from work to home, from home to work. And of course, there are always things that “just come up”, barriers that hinder our day from getting home on time, like stopping for groceries, picking up a friend from school, etc. It seems like life can become so busy and so consumed with “stuff” that we are just reacting to life instead of living life. In fact, it has been proven that only one quarter of people live intentional lives. “They keep piling more work on me.” “I’m up to my eyeballs.” “I am so swamped.” “I’m buried in work.” “I don’t have time to turn around.” “I’m so busy.” “I feel like a chicken with its head cut off.” “It’s a busy season.” These phrases are too common for us all, and instead of living our lives, we are just reacting to life. But here we are in January and yet again, we are all making a list of things that we want to improve on or things that we want to do better this year, New Years Resolutions! Is that what we really want to do? Add more stuff to our day, add more things for us to do? I think in our society, we are so driven to be moving forward, to be progressing, to be gathering more food, that we miss what God has done for us this past year. In Joshua 4:5-‐7 "Go over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you… These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever."And in Joshua 4:20-‐24 “And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. He said to the Israelites, ‘In the future when your descendants ask their fathers, 'What do these stones mean?' tell them, 'Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.' For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan just what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God.’"
Israel is just coming out of a desert season and is about to enter into a new season. But before they enter the new season the Lord instructs them to set up signs of what he has done so that all the following generations may know the goodness of the Lord. Through each season, the Lord teaches us many valuable lessons to propel us into our future destiny and promise. Before we move into the next season, we must recognize what He has done. Not only recognize it, but share it, build symbols that will announce His goodness to all the future generations. Once God brings you through a season, He doesn’t expect you to stay there or go back. Each season is a part of a process that propels you into your purpose. Israel just came out of the desert season where they had many revelations of who God was and who they were as a nation. God did not want them to forget those revelations in the next season of promise. He wanted them to take those revelations into the promised land. God gave them a clear picture of who He was and clear picture of who He wanted them to be. In this next season, He gave them the resources to be that nation and declare to the world that there is one true God.Israel’s next season was one of victory and promise. They conquered the promised land and enjoyed the blessings of the Lord. Just outside the gates of prosperity was twelve pillars standing over the nation to pose as a reminder that it was God who has brought them out of Egypt, was faithful through the desert and gave them the Land they now occupied. In our busyness, many times we don’t even re_lect on His goodness. We just rush into the next season and miss God’s purpose for our lives. We are stuck going back and forth, back and forth, gathering food. But I believe that there is value in taking a moment, building a symbol so that all may know that the hand of the Lord is powerful. Maybe 2010 was a desert season for you. Let us not grumble about it but re_lect and ask what God was revealing to us through the desert. Let us take time and know that our God is faithful, that our God has a plan, that our God has a purpose for each one of us. Before rushing into the next season, let us take time and not miss the revelation of what God is doing in our own lives.

Parenting Tips
Jesus said, “out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). Parents can use this principle to gain some understanding and insight into a child’s heart. Listening becomes key.
It’s surprising how many times we ask kids why they don’t talk to their parents and hear the answer, “Because they don’t listen to me.” Yes, it’s true some children confuse listening with agreeing. On the other hand, we find some parents really don’t listen to their children, whether they agree or not. They’re irritated by the lack of logic, the different viewpoints, or the naïve opinions of their children.
Listening can feel like torture as a child goes on and on about things that don’t make sense to the parent. It’s in these moments,
however, that parents can learn a lot about a child’s heart. Children may be wrong, but they’re usually following some kind of internal logic. Listening allows you to figure out what's going on and offer more truth where helpful.
As you listen to your kids talk, try to discern what may be distracting them from understanding the truth. Don’t feel like you have to point it out on the spot. Take time to listen and make mental notes of errors in their thinking. Look for creative ways to help them understand truth more
fully.
An accepting, safe, listening ear, often opens the heart in ways that nothing else can. As you listen to your child,
you’ll learn about dreams, goals, and commitments. Good or bad, time spent listening to your children gives you a greater sense of what’s going on inside, offering you ideas and direction about the heart change that’s needed.
What benefits have you seen in your family from listening to your child?
The Value of Listening
