UNIQUE KIT-SYSTEMS ON ALLOFFSHORE FACILITIESONGOING MAINTENANCE SERVICE TO MINIMISECOSTLY DOWNTIME

Reducing downtime is one of themost critical factors on all facilities. If production must be closed downdue to long waits for tools andspare parts for machinery, it can bevery costly in both man-hours andlost production. This can be solved by implementingKIT-systems for all relevantmachinery on a facility.

Specialised KIT-systems

As a unique service to the market,Ramboll Oil & Gas has developedspecialised systems for providingspare parts and tools for all rotatingmachinery whenever it is needed onan offshore facility. Our service isoffered 24/7. Our specialised systems are calledKIT-systems. The KIT-systems aredeveloped in-house and are fullyintegrated into our maintenancesystems. In close cooperation withour client, we carefully plan anddiscuss the needs for a KIT-systemfor the relevant machinery on afacility.

What is a KIT-system

A KIT-system is a package withcarefully chosen spare parts andtools needed to providemaintenance or replace parts of aspecific machine. The content of thepackage is specified individuallyfrom client to client and machine tomachine. The KIT-system alsoincludes a detailed, illustratedmanual for the content of the KIT sothe maintenance or replacement iseasy and fast.

White Book service

We produce detailed White Booksfor all relevant machinery. TheWhite Book gives comprehensiveand well-arranged informationabout the maintenance of themachine. The White Book is theroot of the KIT system. It makes thetask of finding the correct sparesfor maintenance effortless.

Our service

We take care of all ordering, packing and deliveries of KITs tostock. The pre-packed units ensureoptimised logistics and are securedfor storage and transportationneeds.

Another important feature of ourspecialised KIT-systems is that weconstantly update the systemaccording to changes ormodifications on productionfacilities.

Three types of KITs

We have three types of KITs andthese are specified individually forour clients’ facilities. PM KIT: Our PeriodicalMaintenance KIT is a specifiedpackage for periodicalmaintenance through a machine'slifetime. This type of KIT usuallycontains consumable spares andother spares necessary for theperiodical maintenance. Security KIT: Our Security KIT is thecritical package that holds all thespare parts needed when correctivemaintenance is necessary. The KITusually contains major criticalcomponents and all other necessaryspares for replacement and repair. Tool KIT: Our Tool KIT consists of allthe needed special tools to provideperiodical or correctivemaintenance of a machine. The KITsvary from heavy duty lifting

equipment to sensitive adjustmentand measuring tools etc.

Setting up the system

When we set up the KIT-system weplan the service agreement in closecoordination with our client. Thereare a number of issues to consider: • Identification of necessary parts of

the KIT-system• Planning and structuring of the

KIT-system• Purchasing of spare parts, packing

and sealing• Inspection, inventory and re-

supply of parts used• Expedition of orders to suppliers

to stock up the KIT-system, havethe components sealed and madethem available again as soon aspossible

• Updating drawings, content, stocknumbers and tools of the KIT-system during modification offacilities.

Main advantages

There are severalcritical advantages of having a KIT-system that all contributeto minimising downtime on afacility:

• All necessary components areavailable when needed

• The specifications of the KIT-system speed up the time forfinding out what is needed

• The logistics of sending andreceiving the KITs runsmoothly thanks to the pre-packed units

• Storing and transport conditionsare carefully planned to ensurethat the KITs are in place whenneeded and sealed for protection

• Our clients' maintenanceprocedures and the KIT-systemcan be fully integrated.
