Dear Brother Knights; We have started our busy season and it has been just that for our Council and Assembly. Most unfortunately we had three of our brother knights pass away in one day. On Thursday October 20, we lost SK Dick Shanahan, SK Vito Campanale, and SK Joe Senica. They were all active for many years and have made huge contributions to the growth and success of Council #6344 and Assembly #2514. They will be missed by us all. Our social on Tuesday was celebrated as a mini Octoberfest with Knockwurst and Brat-wurst served as the entrée. Our compliments to the cooking team for their creativity in the culinary arts. For those who didn’t attend, consider being at the next meeting on Tuesday November 1 and you might get some inside information about the menu and speaker for the November social. Our speakers at the October social were from the youth group headed by Dorothy Flint and they had a very interesting slide show and talks about the World Youth Day trip to Poland last summer which included an outdoor Mass held by the Pope. They thanked the Knights for their contribution which helped make the trip possible. Our first bingo of the year was Thursday Oct. 20 and was attended by 134 paid custom-ers. That was a success considering we have not had bingo in the fall season and we were not sure how it would work out. We will be having bingo every Thursday until November 17 and then resume again on January 5, 2017. Thank You to all of the many Knights and Columbiettes who came and helped. Something to think about. God never asks if we can; He only asks if we will. Vivat Jesus. Dan Moll Grand Knight Dan Moll, Grand Knight [email protected] 773-368-7200

Milestone highlights K of C’s financial protection of Catholic families The Knights of Columbus surpassed $100 billion of life insurance in force this week, mark-ing an important milestone in the Catholic fraternal benefit society’s mission to protect the future of Catholic families. This milestone was achieved despite continuing adverse condi-tions affecting the insurance industry. Established in 1882 by a young Catholic priest, the organization — which offers its line of top-rated products exclusively to its members and their eligible family members — manages $21 billion in assets and ranks 939 on the 2015 Fortune 1000 list, placing it among the largest life insurers in North America. “The $100 billion milestone is not simply a number,” said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. “It highlights the fact that each year we are protecting the future of more Catholic families, con-tinuing the mission of our founder, Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney.” The Knights of Columbus offers insurance to its members and their families through a net-work of more than 1,500 dedicated, professional agents in the United States and Canada — all of whom are members of the Knights of Columbus. “With each dollar of top-rated insurance in force that our professional agency force adds, additional, meaningful security is provided to the families whose livelihoods we protect,” the Supreme Knight said. To read a full interview with Supreme Knight Anderson on this mile-stone, please click here. The $100 billion milestone caps a year in which the Knights of Columbus set a new record for insurance sales with $8 billion sold, earned the top rating of A++ Superior from AM Best for the 40th consecutive year, and was named a “World’s Most Ethical Company” for the second consecutive year by the Ethisphere Institute®. The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal organization with nearly 1.9 million members worldwide. It is also one of the most active charitable organizations in the United States. The Knights set a new record for charitable giving in 2014 with donations of more than $173.5 million and 71.5 million hours of service to charitable causes.
