We Support the BIRDS Ministry in India
The first phase of the BIRDS Finn’s Sport Court
is complete. The bricks have been customized
and displayed next to the court. A new gener-
ous donation has inspired BIRDS Leader Paul
Rajarao to begin the creation of a new junior
college for orphans. There is still a great need
for donations to support:
Zero Hunger Symposium
BIRDS Finn’s Sport Court
Farmer Producer Organization (FPO)
Junior College Program
Checks can be written to “UPC” and note BIRDS
in the memo line.

ELECTION OF CHURCH OFFICERS Electing members to the office of elder and deacon is the responsibility of the congregation. The calling to be a church officer is a calling not to privilege, but to service. Names offered for consideration need to be based on an individual’s proven commitment to Jesus Christ and his church. Clear evidence of the person’s involve-ment in the life of the congregation is critical. Prayer and care should be taken in suggesting names for con-sideration by the nominating committee. Those currently serving as church officers are listed below. Note: Elders and deacons may not be re-elected to the same office for a period of one year following the end of a second consecutive term of office.
CHOIR REHEARSAL will start up again weekly on Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00 pm. If you are in-
terested in singing in the choir, please contact our Music Director, Michelle (Misha) Mayers at
[email protected] or leave a message at 541-926-5551, ext. 315 or 541-908-5115.
MISSION SEWING starts back up monthly on Friday, September 7th from 9-12 Noon in Tabitha’s Place.
BIRDS MISSION: Despite the multitude of sponsored children, there are still orphans in need of sponsor-
ship and donations. You can sponsor a child for $30 a month/$360 year or give a donation to support their
general fund or the BIRDS FINN’s Sport Court. For further information, contact Sten Carlson at 541-979-
3334 or [email protected] or Finn Carlson at 541-979-4503 or [email protected].

HANDS ON MISSION UPDATE: Meet us this month on Thursday, August 27th, at Food Share between 6

food into 25 lb. boxes. In June, we helped pack over 40 care boxes. Please sign up in the Round Room so
we know who to expect and to give you a reminder phone call from one of our Mission Committee mem-
bers. Thank you!
JOY OF GIVING: Second Annual Event to benefit our child care center on
Saturday, December 1st. We are collecting shopping bags for the secret Santa
shopping where the children pick out gifts for their family members in the big box
in the Round Room. Also, be thinking of some creative gifts that you can make
for children to shop for their family members. Questions? See Liisa Reid or call
Rachel Idsinga in the office for more details at 541-926-3183.
THANK YOU to Glenn & Carol Harrison and all the volunteers who provided a

Godly Play worship will resume
on Sunday, August 26. Each week children will continue their worship with sacred stories and time to think deeply and ex-plore God’s story for their lives. We are in need of an additional Storyteller and Greeter in each class (ages 3-2nd grade and grade 3-5) who are able to spend one Sunday a month worshipping with children.
Blessing of the Backpacks and Teacher Commissioning will take place on Sunday,
September 9. We will be blessing our Godly Play teachers at this time as well. This is a special opportunity to pray for our children and teachers as they begin a new school year.
