WHAT IS CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION (CO-OP)?Co-operative Education (Co-op) is a formal process that integrates a student’s academic studies with related, paid work experiences at a host employer’s organization. Our name reflects the co-operative relationship between employers, students and Kwantlen.

WHY HIRE A KWANTLEN CO-OP STUDENT?Our co-op students bring fresh perspectives and cutting edge expertise to new and existing projects in your organization. Many employers also take advantage of the Co-op model as a long term recruitment strategy, thereby allowing them to identify potential employees prior to graduation.

WHAT IS A CO-OP STUDENT LIKE?Our students are focused individuals who are excited about the possibility to work and learn in your organization. Kwantlen utilizes a hands-on approach that enables students to gain practical applied skills in addition to relevant academic theory. Small class size fosters an atmosphere of growth where our students can confidently solve problems and ask astute questions. Within the Co-op program, students go through an extensive selection process that includes exceeding certain grade point averages, completion of foundational courses and job readiness training.

WHEN ARE THEY AVAILABLE?Co-op work terms are either 4, 8 or 12 months long with start dates coinciding with the beginning of our semester starts (January, May and September).
