If you are a ba$+pa$+er, loo+ for the street stalls or restaurants at the top of the hill #ell beyond &$onalds- .udget /or $heap eats, there are a fe# street $arts s$attered about, although most serve ba$+pa$+er fare li+e banana pan$a+es (' baht a pop)! The fried $hi$+en lady in front of the Tipa 0esort does a pretty mean som tam (papaya salad) at 1 baht though, and also loo+ out for the yello#2signed noodle stalls #ith a "1" in a bo#l as their logo, #hi$h dish out a garli$+y but tasty bamii muu daeng (roast por+ noodles) for * baht!  The pad Thai served in in a stall named "Kai Tieun 0estaurant" is good and $heap! The noodle itself is not spi$y and you need to add the $ondiments available on the table to ma+e it spi$y!  The stall in front of the Adidas 3tore serves ri$e2type lun$hes at *24 baht a bo5! vegetarians! The food is great and #ell2prepared, and there is a *2for2' happy

hour from '<:2'=: and again from **:2*4:! ?o$ated at the southern end

of the .ea$h 0d bet#een the Irish 0over and the 6$ean &art!

.lue &ango, 6pposite Krabi 0esort! 6@ers ni$e lo$al food, as #ell as Festern

food! as good sele$tions of al$oholi$ and non2al$oholi$ drin+s, #hi$h also ma+es

it a great pla$e for after2dinner drin+ing sessions!

FannaBs 0estaurant, fa$ing the bea$h in $entral Ao Nang, o@ers rather good Thai

and 3#iss dishes for about ' baht! The home made 3#iss museli #ith yoghurt

and fresh fruit is highly re$ommended! the pad Thai here is Guite good!

 There is no shortage of pla$es for a drin+, and very many atong2style girlie beer

bars! 6n the Ao Nang bea$h front there is no# only one su$h bar, lanet Ao

Nang! a> (fri>>y hair) and the gang do#n there are a#esome, great fun- /urther

do#n to#ards the 0ai ?eh2end of the bea$h is ?ast /ishermans .ar! .oth are good

for #at$hing the sun go do#n over the o$ean! Center oint, on the main bea$hroad near .urger King, has a bun$h of bars $atering for most tastes! If youBre into

live musi$, 0o$+y .ar, and K0 .ar are best! There are some bars along the dirt

road opposite Hogue 0esort and 3paghetti ouse, in$luding &agi$ 0o$+ .ar,

/ootball .ar, and and Chilli .ar ''J! These bars o@er great vie#s of the $li@ in a

rela5ed, open2air setting!

.elgian beers are starting to slo#ly invade some bars and restaurants! olden

aradise Co! ?td!'*J, under 7uropean management, in Ao NangKrabi has been

importing erman beers for ' years and o@er no# the best beverages from

.elgium ('= brands L 4 di@erent +inds of beer)!

If you fan$y a $hilled out drin+ and fe# games of pool in a friendly lo$ation, go

for a drin+ in the bars ada$ent to Noparat Thara .ea$h! Ne5t to ?una bar are

four $hilled out separate bars #here you $an listen to the sea #hile enoying a

drin+! There is 3eemore .ar, 3#eat .ar, Italy .ar, and unter .ar, all of #hi$h

have very friendly sta@ and good travel advi$e! 3pea+ to Nui in 3eemore .ar for

e5$ellent drin+ deals and o@ers! 75$ellent re#or+s $an be seen here at Ne#

 The $li@s and bea$hes of 0ai ?eh, ust ' minutes a#ay by boat, ma+e a great

day trip! hra Nang is the ne5t bea$h past 0ai ?eh and has dramati$ limestone

B+arstB ro$+ formations! Names get $onfusing, as Ao Nang (the developed resort)

is sometimes $alled Ao hra Nang! /rom hra Nang you $an #al+ a$ross to 0ai

?eh 7ast, #ith its mangroves, and hire +aya+s to paddle round the rugged

peninsula! ThereBs also a path from 0ai ?eh 7ast to 0ai ?eh Fest #here the mostlongtails $all!

oda Island is another good day trip 2 you $ome ba$+ #ith the same boat and

only pay on return! ThereBs even an area to the right of #here the longtails $ome

in to oda thatBs ust #orth snor+eling (unspe$ta$ular $oral but a fair fe# sh)!

Ao Nang is one of the main gate#ays for travel to the hi hi islands, about *

hours a#ay by long tail boat, 12 mins by speed boat! &any tour operators in

Ao Nang o@er day trips to hi hi! In$luded in the pri$e (92' baht) is most

often lun$h, hotel transfer and insuran$e!

No#adays, you may depart from Ao Nang to Koh ?anta easily! /erry runs daily at

':4 by Ao Nang rin$ess! .oo+ it at your hotel, pri$e should be about 1 baht

(as at Nov *9), and you #ill be pi$+ed up from your hotel and ta+en to the

departure point, as #ell as met on the other side and ta+en to your hotel there!

 The Tab Ka+ ang Na+ ill Nature Trail is found north#est of Ao Nang $lose to

bea$hesresorts, a $ouple of +ilometers north of Klong &uang .ea$h! It #ill ta+e

you through the ungle and up to a pea+ #ith a fantasti$ vie# over Ao Nang and

more! A sign $laims the hi+e to be 4!8 +m but it sure felt li+e more! There is a

small ladder that needs to be $limbed, but the trail is an easy one if you havede$ent shoes!

Koh aa 2 this is the best site in Thailand for mi5ed groups of snor+ellers and

divers! /or divers only, it o@ers ama>ing s#im2throughs! In re$ent years Koh aa

has seen a large in$rease in the number of sh present at the reefs, due to

$ommitted $onservation poli$ies!

Koh 0o+ 2 some of ThailandMs nest snor+eling spots are lo$ated o@ ?antaMs $oast!

Koh 0o+, 18 +m south of ?anta, is $onsidered by most to be the pi$+ of the

bun$h, though other people say they rate Koh aaMs snor+elling even more

highly! Koh 0o+ a$tually $onsists of t#o islands, Koh 0o+ Nai and Koh 0o+ No+,

both gra$ed #ith po#dery #hite sand bea$hes and #ith an e5tensive bed of

$oral in bet#een!

 This sheltered and shallo# $hannel is an ideal habitat for reef sh, and the pla$e

s#arms #ith innumerable shoals of them! Hisibility is very good, and many

interesting spe$ies of reef sh $an be found in these #aters! &any snor+ellers

are most ama>ed by the sheer numbers of sh here, #hi$h s#irl and s#arm

around the s#immers!

1 Island Trip 2 Koh &oo+Bs ama>ing 7merald Cave is the highlight of this trip! The

$ave is a #indo# into a lagoon through #hi$h safety2vest2$lad s#immers are

to#ed by lo$al guides! The s#im into the lagoon is fully eighty metres in length

and a real adventure!
