1. Student-Related Matters

1.1 P3 to P5 End-of-Year Oral Examination

The oral examination will commence in October and the details are given below. The P3 Oral Examination will be conducted during curriculum time while the P4 and P5 Oral Examination will be conducted after school. P4 and P5 students are required to report to the School Canteen punctually at 2pm on the allocated day(s).

P4 students will be dismissed upon completion of both the English Language and Mother Tongue (MT) Oral Examination, unless they have been exempted from MT. P5 students will be dismissed once they have completed the oral examination for the day. Please make the necessary transport arrangement/s for your child/ward.

Please note that there will be no make-up for the Oral Examination. A medical certificate is required for absence from the Oral Examination as communicated in the examination policy through the Principal’s September letter.

1.3 Term 4 P1 to P4 Holistic Assessment

Assessment is an integral part of the learning process, helping students become self-directed learners and taking ownership for their learning. In Kranji, a variety of weighted and non-weighted assessments are used to provide students and parents with feedback on where they are currently at in learning, and the learning outcomes they need to work towards. This is complemented by further support and interventions by teachers to bridge the learning gaps surfaced from the assessments.

In Term 4, the school conducts assessments that are not weighted to monitor and provide feedback in students’ progress in the various subjects on a regular basis throughout the year. The list of holistic assessment for students in Term 4 2020 for the various subjects for your child’s/ward’s level has been attached to the letter for your information and reference in Annex A.

1.4 Children’s Day & Champions Day (8 Oct 2020)

A series of fun and exciting activities will be organised for our students as part of Children’s Day celebration on 8 October 2020, Thursday. We are also incorporating Champions Day, our signature event under the school’s Learning for Life Programme, as part the celebration. Students will be engaged in sports active play, games bonding sessions, and will be entertained by a virtual concert prepared by our very own teachers. We hope our students will demonstrate teamwork, enhance their friendship and display the growth mindset through the range of meaningful activities planned for them.

The students will be dismissed as usual at 1.30p.m. There will not be any After School Programme (ASP) on this day. Please note that Friday, 9 October 2020, is a School Holiday and students are not required to report to school on that day. School will resume on Monday, 12 October 2020, for all students.

1.5 PSLE Marking Exercise (19 to 22 Oct 2020)

The PSLE Marking Exercise will be conducted over a period of 4 days from Monday, 19 October 2020, Monday to Thursday, 22 October 2020. All P1 to P6 students do not need to report to school on these 4 days. School will resume on Friday, 23 October 2020.

1.6 Edusave Character Award (ECHA) 2020

The Ministry Of Education introduced the Edusave Character Award (ECHA) in 2012 to enable schools to recognise students who demonstrate exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behaviour and actions. 2. Staff-Related Matters

2.1 Staff Awards

In our September letter, we announced that our Year Head, Mdm Nur Fazalina Binte Hussin, had been conferred the LEAP Award 2020 (Listening Educator for Advancement and Progress Award) by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan.

We are pleased to share with you more news of staff achievements. Our Subject Head for Infocomm Technology, Mdm Yap Zhi Jun Vivienne, has been awarded the Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) this year. The OYEA recognises and honours the achievements of young educators who have the passion and commitment to teaching, inspiring and nurturing their students. Vivienne is one of six outstanding educators who received the OYEA 2020 from Minister Lawrence Wong during the Teachers’ Day Celebration and Award Ceremony held virtually on Thursday, 3 September 2020.

In addition, our Lead Teacher/Mathematics, Mdm Chang Suo Hui, has been conferred the Associate of Academy of Singapore Teachers (Researcher) Award this year. This award recognises and affirms her contributions to the professional development of the teaching fraternity, in the area of Mathematics education.

2.2 The President’s Award for Teachers (PAT) and the Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) 2021

Every year, two national awards are given out to teachers in Singapore to recognise their professional excellence. They are the President’s Award for Teachers (PAT) and the Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA).

The President’s Award for Teachers (PAT) gives national recognition to experienced teachers for their dedication and hard work in developing our young. These teachers prepare students for life, as well as model commitment to continuous learning and enterprise. They inspire both their students and peers through their words and deeds. Nomination for PAT 2021 is now open and will close on Tuesday, 26 January 2021.

The Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) seeks to recognise excellent young teachers for their youthful idealism, energy, enthusiasm and active involvement in the development of youths.

Educators who are 35 years and younger are eligible for the award. For OYEA 2021, it is open to educators who are born on or after 30 June 1986. Nomination for OYEA 2021 is now open and will close on Tuesday, 12 January 2021. 3.2 Student Care Service in Year 2021 The Student Care Centre (SCC) @ Kranji Primary School aims to provide a safe, structured and conducive environment for our students to rest and learn after school hours. In Kranji Primary School, we partner NASCANS Pte Ltd to provide quality after-school care. The SCC programmes are designed to focus on students’ after-school care needs and to provide opportunities for them to develop social and emotional competencies and nurture healthy relationships. The fee structure is as follows:
