Kingston Hill Officer The 4 full-time elected roles within KUSU split into 2 main parts; your role as the lead representative for your own campus, and your role supporting the wider work of KUSU as part of a team with the other full-time officers, supported by the KUSU staff team. Kingston Hill Specific Role To spend 2 days per week based at Kingston Hill. To make sure all KUSU opportunities are publicised and available to Kingston Hill students. Provide a link between the students you meet and the wider activities and democratic structures of KUSU. To ensure that appropriate student feedback structures are in place on your campus. To represent KUSU at induction, welcome, Freshers’ and open day activities that take place at Kingston Hill. (To attend the relevant faculty forum meeting(s) based at your campus and liaise with relevant members departments regarding the follow-up actions resulting from those.) Kingston Hill Officer

The 4 full-time elected roles within KUSU split into 2 main parts; your role as the lead representative for your own campus, and your role supporting the wider work of KUSU as part of a team with the other full-time officers, supported by the KUSU staff team.

Kingston Hill Specific Role

Working with relevant KUSU and University staff to help recruit course reps and senior course reps for the faculty(s) based on your campus

Assisting with course rep training for those faculties Encourage and support senior reps to contribute to relevant faculty committees. To ensure the continuous development of the course rep system on your campus.

To be the lead welfare officer for Kingston Hill students, including by:

To act as a first port-of-call for student welfare related enquiries and signposting.

Work closely with relevant University departments to ensure that student feedback is taken into account in service provision.

Represent students based at Kingston Hill in formal disciplinary or complaints processes with the University.

Ensure that relevant student welfare information and links are available on your campus.

In addition to this, you will have wider responsibilities for KUSU as a whole, as part of the full-time officer team and as a Trustee of the union. These responsibilities will be allocated in discussion with whole team with an effort made to take your interests and skills into account (though some compromise will be needed). Many of these areas will require joint work but they each need a lead officer. The areas where each officer leads will be split evenly within the team.

All officers will be responsible for working together to:

Support some part-time executive officers and any campus specific student groups. Working with the KUSU Management Team and Trustee Board to provide strategy

and direction to KUSU as an organisation. Chair relevant KUSU democratic and internal meetings. Membership of a number of University wide committees as the lead student

representative. Receiving essential summer training through KUSU and NUS. Operate as a cohesive, coherent and effective full-time officer team. Taking a full part in KUSU wide decision making through exec, trustee board and the

AGM. Keeping students up-to-date with your work both on your campus and in your wider

responsibilities.

Your role will also include lead responsibility in one of the following areas:

Internal Union Affairs: Including overall responsibility for the Trustee Board and its sub-committees, staff/operations/finance of the union, strategic oversight of KUSU activities and services, link point for the University in terms of KUSU’s organisational development, liaising with the Union Development area within the National Union of Students.

University Affairs: KUSU membership of the University Board of Governors, leading and coordinating officer input on education related University committees, overall strategic oversight of the academic rep system, main point of contact for University senior staff in relation to student feedback, contact point for relations with St George’s and Partner Colleges.

External Affairs: Lead officer for support of liberation campaigns and officers, contact point for the campaigns fund, liaising with national and local politicians and organisations whose decisions impact on the lives of students beyond the University, developing students political awareness and engagement.

Community Affairs: Main KUSU link point for joint community relations work with the University and developing relationships with local community groups, lead on

representation related to student accommodation, promoting active citizenship amongst the student body.
