KUWAIT CONFORMITY ASSURANCE SCHEME (KUCAS) PUBLIC AUTHORITY FOR INDUSTRY THE PROGRAM The Public Authority for Industry of the State of Kuwait (PAI) has implemented the “Kuwait Conformity Assurance Scheme” (KUCAS) as of 17 June, 2006. KUCAS is a set of procedures carried out by PAI to verify the conformity of all “Regulated Products” to the Kuwaiti Technical Regulations and approved Standards. Exporters & manufacturers with consignments of regulated products to be shipped to Kuwait must complete the conformity procedures prior to shipment through one of the Certification and Inspection Bodies approved by PAI (e.g. SGS) in accordance with KUCAS Guidelines. THE OBJECTIVES KUCAS key objective is to make sure that all the imported “Regulated Products” meet the mandatory quality, safety, and security requirements of the Kuwaiti technical regulations and standards approved by PAI. The conformity assessment and verification activities will be conducted in various exporting countries, which has the advantage to facilitate trade and avoid losses that importers may incur in case their products are found non compliant with the mandatory requirements. THE SOLUTION SGS fulfils all the qualification criteria set for the accreditation of Certification and Inspection Bodies and is working in close partnership with PAI.
