WOLFGANG PILZ | EDITORIAL

DEAR PARTNERS AND FRIENDS OF PALFINGER!

PALFINGER was able to achieve a worldwide turnover of more than one billion Euros for the first time in 2014 – a great success for us and our pro-ducts. The collaboration with SANY, our Chinese partner, is developing very well. In Russia, one of our most important markets, we managed to take a substantial step forward with the acquisition of PM-Group Lifting Machines and the two joint ventures with KAMAZ. This has given us a real “home advantage” and we will cont-inue on our successful track with the local production. This strategy is part of our internationalization process, which we have consistently pursued for years. Innovation, internationa-lization and flexibilization are three strategic goals with which we want to continue to be the best partner for our customers well into in the future.

The development departments at PALFINGER have outdone them-selves in the last few months: The powerful PK 165.002 TEC 7, the newly developed L-crane series or the radio remote control PALcom P7 are all impressive proof of our lea-dership in innovation. In all new de-velopments, we make sure that the cranes are even more efficient, safer and easier to operate than before.

The new PK 165.002 TEC 7 shows how much our customers’ needs guide our innovations. The PK 165.002 TEC 7 is optimized for a 32 ton chassis, convinces with its lif-ting capacity and is still lighter than its predecessor. You can find all the details on page 10/11.

In this issue we will again present companies that work with our cra-nes. The Dutch family company Bredenoord delivers mobile energy

to unusual operating sites – more on this topic on page 15. The Swiss company Urs Jakob AG specializes in transportation, excavations and grab operations and has been co-operating with PALFINGER since it was founded in 1991 (page 16).

Our commitment to our customers is paying off: It is a great honor for us that we recently received the Image Award from the magazine “Ver-kehrsrundschau”, the Oscar of the German commercial vehicle indus-try. And it motivates us to continue doing everything we can to stay the market leader in product and ser-vice quality for our customers.

NEWS

It almost stole the show from the new Porsche Cayenne Hybrid: At the opening of the new Porsche Center on Sterneckstrasse in the city of Salzburg, the PK 200002 L SH – the largest PALFINGER crane – was also treated to an extraordinary pre-sentation. Accompanied by a great fireworks display at the event, the latest model from the sports car ma-

nufacturer – elegantly lifted by the PK 200002 L SH – floated onto the company premises. Mounted on a truck from the Rachbauer fleet, the PK 200002 L SH did not have to fully demonstrate its strengths. Since the crane has a maximum lifting capaci-ty of up to 40 tons, it would consider the roughly 2.4-ton Cayenne as light as a feather.

FOR THE PK 200002 L SH

Considering the shared roots in Salz-burg and the international brand strategy of PALFINGER and Red Bull, it quickly became clear that we are forged from the same steel. It was therefore just a short path until we had agreed on our partnership. This commitment is the ideal platform not only to meet our regional part-ners but also to benefit from the glo-bal familiarity of the Red Bull brand among our international customers.

As the world brand and technology leader in hydraulic loader cranes, we are looking for strong partners who are also at the top of their le-agues. We are very pleased to have found such a partner in Red Bull. The excellent collaboration was already evident in the first shared project, the production of a joint commercial in which the captain of the Red Bulls proves his skills. At the same time everyone can easily be convinced that the right equipment plays a cru-cial role in that process too.

A new crane series for conventio-nal loading activities was recently added to PALFINGER’s product range. “With the SOLID series, we are fulfilling the desire of many of our customers by offering a crane with an excellent lifting capacity at an affordable price,” says product manager Michael Völker about the new model series: “The cranes are equipped with Single Link Plus and have an excellent price performance ratio.” The models PK 17.001 SLD 1, PK 17.001 SLD 3 and PK 19.001 SLD 5 replace the previous models PK 16001, PK 16001-K and PK 18001-EH.

“The model series excels with a hig-her lifting capacity compared to its earlier models and it does this with the same dead load,” explains Mi-chael Völker. This comes as no sur-prise to those who know the develop-ment history of PALFINGER loading cranes.

Depending on the designs, the mo-dels have a lifting capacity of 16.8 to 18.5 meter tonnes and a range of up to 14.8 meters. The slewing ran-ge is 420°. The models have Single Link Plus and an optimized extension boom system with up to five hydrau-lic extensions. The PK 17.001 SLD 1

is the NON-CE basic model, the PK 17.001 SLD 3 and the PK 19.001 SLD 5 are available in CE as well as NON-CE versions.

Three systems for the stability mo-nitoring are available for the SLD series. In addition to ISC-S and HPSC-L, a completely new versi-on was developed specifically for SLD cranes with the HPSC-E. HPSC-E offers the entire performance of the top system HPSC at an attractive price.

In the standard version, the top mo-del PK 19.001 SLD 5 comes equip-ped with a load-sensing control val-ve, radio remote control, Paltronic 50 and E-HPLS.

“In this series we concentrated on the essential: The SLD cranes stand for a strong performance at an affordab-le price,” is how Völker summari-zes the result of the development work. The models PK 17.001 SLD 1, PK 17.001 SLD 3 and PK 19.001 SLD 5 have been on the market since early May.

The name says it all: SOLID (SLD) is the new crane series from PALFINGER. It stands for robust, simple cranes with excellent lifting capacity.

THE PRO ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE: THE L-CRANE SERIES FROM PALFINGER

Speed, reliability and precision: Those are qualities that matter on const-ruction sites. Qualities with which the new L-crane series from PALFINGER can score even during the most difficult tasks. The new L-crane series sets new standards in the segment of rear-mounted building material cranes with its easy serviceability and ergonomic design.

Developing a low-maintenance and thus efficient model series was a very high priority during the conception of the L-crane series, in addition to its user-friendliness. The entire slew me-chanism – the series has a slewing range of 440° – runs in an oil bath, for example, ensuring permanent lubri-cation. This reduces the maintenance for lubricating the crane column to a minimum and decreases the friction. The filling level of the oil can be cont-rolled at any time with a gauge glass.

The PALFINGER technicians focused strongly on the needs of the crane operators when they developed the new series. The operators had to be able to perform their work safely, quickly and with a minimum of fati-gue. “At the end of the day, the higher comfort pays off with effectiveness and therefore efficient work,” was some of the feedback from the field test. Even the entry and exit are more pleasant in the new series because the entry area is ten centimeter wider than before. The Paltronic terminal and operating elements can be re-ached comfortably and the controls can be read very easily. The counter of the operating hours – in a digital version – is integrated into the raised seat terminal.

Maintenance-free pedals that can be adjusted individually are adaptable to the needs of the individual crane

operators. The angles of inclination on the pedals are as adjustable as the backrests or armrests of the seat. A rain cover is built into the backrest in this series and comes with the op-tions of installing a canopy or heated seat cover. Optimal viewing in the loading area is provided by an LED or halogen spotlight according to the user’s preference. If desired, the cra-ne is delivered with a ladder that has been coordinated with the model.

An optional dead man’s switch can be integrated into the operating le-ver for the brick stack grapple. This prevents an unintentional opening of the claw. The transport block of the hand levers, which is very easy to use, prevents the vibrations from being transferred to the control valve during transport. This detail makes a consi-derable contribution to the long life of the hydraulics.

Higher lifting capacity with nearly the same dead weight: That is just one of the great features of PALFINGER’s new L-crane series. This model series excels at construction sites with its 440° slewing range and its excellent loading height.

INFO

TEC 3: In this version, the L-crane has manual cross-lever controls and a Paltronic 50, which protects the crane and its attached equipment from excessive loads. Thanks to the High Performance Stability Control HPSC, the maximum load performance can be achie-ved at any point of the stability curve.

TEC 7: In this version, the L-crane has a new PALcom P7 remote control and a Paltro-nic 150 that ensures the perfect coordination of the overall system. S-HPLS guarantees a fully automatic increase in the lifting capacity and autonomously reduces speed in critical areas. Soft Stopp makes the crane more pre-cise and sensitive.

A load sensing control valve that improves the multiple controllability even with manual operation and thus guarantees efficient work is optionally available.

In the L-crane series, the hydraulic hoses are on the inside of the crane column. This prevents damage and ensures compact structural dimen-sions. The latest generation of hy- draulic swivel joints were selected in order to reduce twisting of the hoses to a minimum.

PALFINGER’s functional design also continues in the hose placement on

the knuckle boom: Tubes are used instead of hoses here in order to achieve a clean and tightly fitting placement. By moving the knuckle boom to the right, the crane operator can easily view the boom, hose equip-ment and load.

Numerous other functions and sys-tems are available so that the model series can be perfectly coordinated to the needs of the user. Warning lights on the supports or supports that can be swiveled up by 60 degrees are possible, for example.

CONCLUSIONThe L-crane series is a true multi-use talent that can be used to quickly and precisely move large loads even during demanding loading and delivery jobs on construction sites. And this helps the business to lower its overall costs because it is extraordinarily low-maintenance and efficient.

THE NEXT GENERATION OF

As an innovation leader, PALFINGER is presenting the PK 165.002 TEC 7 as a new dimension in cranes that are conceived for carrier vehicles with a maximum permitted total weight of 32 tons. The PK 165.002 TEC 7 com-bines strength with wide reach and is still a ton lighter than its previous model PK 150002. “Our goal was to develop a crane that is designed for heavy loads and high reach capacities while reducing the weight at the same time,” explains Gerald Pschernig, Managing Director of Business Unit Cranes at PALFINGER. The crane re-aches a lifting capacity that is up to 15 percent higher than its predeces-sor. The lifting capacity even increa-ses by more than 20 percent at the fly jib. “The greatest challenge was to optimize this crane for a 32-ton carrier vehicle. We succeeded in this with the PK 165.002 TEC 7,” and this even with full equipment, including the fly jib and winch, Gerald Pscher-nig adds. This weight reduction pays off for the users: The crane can be mounted on a 32-ton chassis. The acquisition costs, operating costs and the efficiency during operation are optimized by the qualification as a standard truck. This means route restrictions or accompanying ve-hicles are not an issue.

The PK 165.002 TEC 7 shows its strengths with heavy loads, for

example, which have to be lif-ted across large distances. The new model has a lifting capacity of 125 meter tons. The maximum lifting capacity with the fly jib is 8.2 instead of the previ-ous 6.5 tons. With the PJ 240, the PK 165.002 TEC 7 reaches a maxi-mum lifting height of 35 meters and even 40 meters with the PJ 300L.

Power Link Plus makes the PK 165.002 TEC 7 a specialist for dif-ficult application areas: The knuckle boom system enables an overexten-sion of 15 degrees. This point can be decisive, for example when one has to lift heavy loads through a low gate opening into a building – and this is the type of application where the PK 165.002 TEC 7 with Power Link Plus can excel.

PALFINGER placed great value on modern, functional design with the PK 165.002 TEC 7. The boom sys-tem with the P-Profile increases the stiffness of the crane boom and contributes substantially to the light-weight construction. The completely redesigned slew mechanism and extension system are executed in a maintenance-optimized style. The sensors, hydraulics and electronics of the crane are installed in such a way that all components have the best protection against mechanical and weather-related influences.

The PK 165.002 TEC 7 is available as of the third quarter 2015.

When it comes to crane and loading technology, here is an incredible we-alth of experiences: Together with PALFINGER, Kuhn Ladetechnik has realized about 35.000 customized crane projects in recent decades for customers in Europe. The two companies have successfully joined paths since 1986. Kuhn represents PALFINGER products exclusively in Austria and three other European countries. “We were able to achieve a market share of over 50 percent with the PALFINGER hydraulic loa-der crane,” is how Günter Kuhn proudly sums up the company’s accomplishments. In addition to the PALFINGER loader cranes, the loading technology division includes EPSILON timber cranes, forklifts and warehousing equipment.

The service, proximity to customers and handshake quality are consi-dered the key elements of the com-pany’s success. Kuhn Ladetechnik launched the Customer Excellence project in 2012. The proximity to the

customers – short travel distances and higher efficiency – is an import-ant part of this strategy. Three new service facilities were opened in Austria in 2014 as a result. Stans in Tyrol, Bisamberg near Vienna and St. Georgen in Amstetten are the new locations supplementing the service network of Kuhn Ladetechnik. They are the first address for the const-ruction, maintenance and repair of PALFINGER cranes, EPSILON tim-ber and recycling cranes as well as hooklifts. “Perfection is our goal. We want to further optimize the consul-tations, sales as well as service and repair,” Günter Kuhn says about the investments. All of the service facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art workshop technology. An extensive storage area ensures that the required replacement parts are available immediately and that the servicing time is kept short.

Thanks to its many years of experien-ce, Kuhn Ladetechnik can support its customers with a great deal of ex-

pertise in investment decisions. The projects are visualized and calcula-ted in the engineering department. After the order is placed, PALFINGER produces the crane, which is then assembled by the specialists at Kuhn. The finetuning as well as the training of the future crane operators are a quality feature of Kuhn.

AWARD

The weekly transport program “Ver-kehrsrundschau” is considered the mouthpiece of the commercial ve-hicle industry in Germany. Insiders consider its Image Award the “Oscar of the commercial vehicle sector.” PALFINGER received the coveted award again this year. The PALFINGER transportable forklift had already won in its category in 2011 and 2013. This year marked the first time that the image of loader cranes was also of interest in the area of “storage and handling.” With a score of 859 points, PALFINGER was able to beat the runner-up Hiab/Cargotec by 170 points. When it came to the brand awareness, the company achieved 89 percent, Hiab 72 percent and Fassi, in third place, 67 percent.

PALFINGER is also proud of the great leading edge with which the loader cranes reached the top spot. The decisions were always very close in each of the 15 award sec-tions, but in the loader crane cate-gory PALFINGER was ahead of the second-place winner by a grand 17 percent. “PALFINGER, with a sizab-le cushion, is the clear winner of the Image Award 2015 from Verkehrs-rundschau,” said the editor-in-chief Birgit Bauer in her speech during the award ceremony in Munich in February.

The prestigious market research institute Kleffman had surveyed 196 decision makers responsible for purchasing in the freight carri-er business by telephone to deter-mine the image and awareness of the most important vendors in the

German market. 74 percent of the respondents stated that they consi-dered a brand’s image to be very im-portant in their buying decision. As in the years before, the factor “pro-duct quality” is at the top, followed by “service quality” and “honesty in customer relations.” The item “com-munication quality” showed the strongest gain and can be conside-red equivalent to excellent promoti-on and public relations.

Good branding doesn’t just entail the development of well thought-out brand positioning but also its an-choring among the employees. Ulti-mately they are the brand ambassa-dor towards the outside, regardless of whether they work in the field or in the office.

The award is therefore also a clear ho-nor for the dedicated PALFINGER em-ployees who contributed to the out-standing result of the Image Award.

P7 – NEW FEATURES

The new PALFINGER loader crane remote control PALcom P7 simplifies work with the crane, thanks to its expandability with additional functions.

In focus: P-Fold and C-FUNC.

Innovative, user-friendly, intuitive, ergonomic and straightforward: The positive responses to the loader crane remote control PALcom P7, which premiered at the IAA, are enormous. The PALcom P7 is a true masterpiece; it is easy to use and facilitates precise, efficient and fati-gue-free work.

Intelligent assistant systems like P-Fold support the crane operator and shorten the setup times to a minimum. The disassembly and fol-ding of a loader crane requires great concentration and takes its time. The crane operator can complete this im-portant setup task comfortably with one hand movement by using the assistance system P-Fold: All it takes is to activate P-Fold on the operating menu and direct an operating lever. The intelligent control system takes over the coordination of the crane and fly-jib movements up to the pre-viously defined work position. The winch is also controlled automatical-ly in connection with the RTC (Rope Tension Control) cable clamp. The process is quick and comfortable with semi-automatic controls. Once the work is completed, P-Fold hand-les the folding up of the crane. P-Fold is available for all SH models from PK 42002 SH to PK 200002 L SH in combination with the PALcom P7.

C-FUNC is another feature of the PALcom P7. C-FUNC enables an expansion of the PALcom P7’s work spectrum with control features that can be adjusted individually to the customers‘ needs.

This often involves functions such as the length adjustment of a flatbed, the activation of downrigger clamps or an additional winch on the vehicle. C-FUNC integrates such applications into the remote control. Customers can choose between three variants with up to six functions. Rotary, linear and tilting movements are possible. A CAN-bus control valve with an emer-gency stop function, a cable harness and the setup on the crane are deli-vered by the factory for this purpose. The assembly and configuration are performed in the setup workshop.

There is also an expansion for cranes that require more than eight support functions. Large cranes that are often equipped with a front support in front of the cabin, for example, can have this integrated into the PALcom P7.As with the C-FUNC, a complete kit is provided by the factory.

PALcom P7 is a true remote control for loader cranes that also offers the option to integrate individual custo-mers‘ wishes.

FROM A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY TO AN ELECTRICITY PROVIDER WITH EUROPE-WIDE SUCCESS

When Jan Bredenoord founded a small construc-tion company in Apeldoorn in 1937, he probably wouldn’t have guessed that it would operate th-roughout Europe someday. Bredenoord generated electricity with gases from a wood-burning stove to power his tools. This construction company soon turned into a specialist for business with die-sel-electric aggregates. Today the family business employs 210 people and has branches not only in Apeldoorn but also Germany and Denmark. The PALFINGER cranes are used for the transport lo-gistics: The fleet currently includes eleven cranes each from the series PK 32080 and 33002 EH as well as a PK 66000 and two PK 78002 SH.

Nowadays nothing will work wi-thout electricity. But not all places that require energy always have an available supply network. Founded in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands in 1937, Bredenoord is a specialist for providing power wherever it is needed, for mobile, temporary or permanent energy supplies. Custo-mers throughout Europe use the generators for industrial installa-tions, events, construction sites or in offshore areas. Bredenoord can provide an emergency power sup-ply even in emergency situations or after natural disasters.

Service around the clock and so-phisticated logistics with a dedi-cated fleet is essential for such a company. Bredenoord has relied on PALFINGER’s crane technology for years to deliver the aggregates – which weigh up to 20 tons and have a size of up to seven meters – to the customers with specially adap-ted trucks. “We appreciate the high quality of the cranes and the good price/benefit ratio,” explains Peter Mulder, the transportation manager at Bredenoord. Mulder always has reliable contact persons through PALFINGER Netherlands and the re-gional dealer HSE. Bredenoord has worked with PALFINGER cranes sin-ce 1998. The company currently has

25 cranes in its fleet – from the 30 series, which is sufficient for most of Bredenoord’s applications, to the powerful models PK 78002 SH. The PK 33002 cranes are equipped with 20-ton belt winch systems and mounted on trucks. An ideal combi-nation for the safe lifting of the agg-regates. “To our drivers, the vehicles are virtually a second home and their most important tool to provi-de good service to the customers,” Mulder states:

CUSTOMER PORTRAIT: URS JAKOB AG

When Urs Jakob considered buying a new crane vehicle a few months ago, the brand had already been selected. “I have worked with PALFINGER from the beginning,” explains the Swiss entrepreneur, who founded his company in 1991. “I didn’t even solicit any other offers because I always had good expe-riences with PALFINGER.” All five vehicles used by the company in Lausen in Baselland, which speci-alizes in transportation, excavation and grab operations, are equipped with PALFINGER cranes. “I appreci-ate the quality and reliability,” Jakob says. It is particularly important to him that there is a repair shop near-by. Competent service and the rapid delivery of spare parts are twice as crucial in the transportation busi-ness. And another thing is important to him: A unified equipment park makes it easier for people to work well and ensures safety.

The company expanded its scope of work with the new PALFINGER PK 78002 SH. “Now we can take on jobs that require more lifting capa-city and reach,” the entrepreneur says. The PK 78002 SH – the eighth PALFINGER crane at Urs Jakob AG – is equipped with seven hydrau-lic extensions and a fly jib. It also has a hinged 2.5-ton winch on the main boom as well as a rotator and a 500-liter clamshell for bulk mate-rials. The crane has a reach of 27 meters and a maximum lifting capa-city of 21 tons. This way Urs Jakob is equipped for all types of operations.

The PALFINGER cranes grew along with the company. “We started with a simple loader crane and now our range extends to the model PK 78000 SH,” Urs Jakob says proudly. Many orders come from horticulture companies. They involve lifting ma-terial such as trees or gravel across

houses or fences. But Urs Jakob AG also completes more unusual jobs: At one time a coffin had to be lifted from the second-story window of an apartment house. The staircase would have been too narrow for it. Another time a horse had to be re-scued from a septic tank. Conside-ring jobs such as these makes the servicing of overturned tractors with a crane almost look like routine.

Urs Jakob AG is successful in Switzerland with transportation, exca-vation and grab operations. Since it was founded more than twenty years ago, the company has relied on cranes from PALFINGER.

JOBREPORT SINGAPUR

Dangerous outdoor jobs require the highest safety standards. In many re-gions in the world, standards such as the norm EN280 that have long been taken for granted in Europe still have to be established and implemented. The „Republic of Singapore“. A coun-try in Southeast Asia has developed rapidly in recent years. The country is doing a great deal to become not only more productive and efficient, but also to adapt their labor and safety measures to European stan-dards. Among other things, norms for safe work on mobile access platforms will be developed in the near future. In this area PALFINGER is a sought-after partner, thanks to its longstanding experience and in-ternational expertise. As the local PALFINGER dealers, PALFINGER Asia Pacific and Wong Fong Enginee-ring are members of an official work group that is defining the new legal standards for Singapore.

These new norms will also raise awareness for ways to reduce ac-cident risks and avoid potential hazards. This is a development that will radiate from Singapore to other countries in the region and is expected to increase the overall demand for higher safety standards during difficult work.

PALFINGER has an excellent re-putation in these markets as well. Only recently an important job was completed in Singapore. The custo-mer is a tree-cutting company that has to do regular cutting and felling in the crown area. This requires a good reach, stability and versa-tility. The company decided on a PALFINGER PK 53002 SH, which of-fers additional reach and efficiency with the added fly jib PJ 080C. The tree cutters are safely and efficient-ly brought to their work location in baskets that comply with the norm EN280. From this platform, they can complete cutting and tree-care work with high safety.

Braymore Piano Movers started as an expert in piano delivery in 1981, and today, the delicate musical instru-ments are only part of the successful Canadian company’s portfolio. Known as a reliable partner for transporting delicate and bulky goods, Braymore is now in demand far beyond Toron-to, ON. Whirlpools, sculptures, safes and merchandise are reliably deliver-ed into their places with PALFINGER knuckle boom cranes.

Greg Martin, from Braymore Piano Movers, loves to overcome delivery challenges such as moving large and awkward-shaped items to places that are difficult to access. Fortunately, he has the right team and the right

tool for the job because Braymore works with a PALFINGER PK 23002. Although a lot of research was done when considering the purchase, “the reach and flexibility of the PALFINGER knuckle boom crane convinced us,” Greg says. It was a decision that pro-ved to be an investment in the future because Braymore Crane Service founded in 2011, verifying that the company specializes in delivering much more than pianos with extre-me care and accuracy. “The crane makes us diverse and opens up new areas of activity for us,” Greg com-ments. Since cranes are a key com-ponent of their success, Braymore recently added a second crane – the PALFINGER 65002 SH – to their fleet.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

“Moscow Parking” ensures order on the roads and parking spaces in the Russian capital. This fleet run by the parking sheriff works with PALFINGER cranes. In the Russian capital they are known by the nick-name “green crocodiles”: Those conspicuous green and white towing vehicles from “Moscow Parking” that patrol the roads, find parking of-fenders and tow the vehicles on the spot. After all, about 46.000 illegally parked cars are caught in Moscow every day.

The fleet is large: “Moscow Parking“ has about 300 tow trucks. This in-cludes flexible light trucks that are equipped with the PALFINGER PK 13500T as well as large trucks where the PK 19500T does an excel-lent job in removing large SUVs.

Dmitry is one of the operators who is on tour with a “green crocodile.” He is glad that the company is working with PALFINGER cranes. “PALFINGER is the most reliable and easy to use crane,” says Dmitry, based on his experience: “It never lets you down.”

The first job of the day: A car has par-ked at a pedestrian crossing. Dmitry prepares the crane while the techni-cian seals the doors and inspects the car. He carefully lifts the vehicle onto the platform; he can position it preci-sely with the remote control. It takes less than five minutes and the car no longer poses a danger to pedestrians. Dmitry’s tour continues.

For vegetable producers, the pow-erful PALFINGER PK 34002 SH and a glass house cleaning machine are an unbeatable combination.

With a glass-house area of about 5.000 hectares, the Netherlands are among the largest vegetable producers in Europe. Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and more are thriving in the greenhouses. For the-se greenhouses to provide the best conditions, they must be regularly maintained and cleaned. This kind of maintenance is handled by the company Marel Loonwerk from De Lier. The company has found an ide-al and flexible partner for a special solution in PALFINGER.

Marel Loonwerk strives to make the maintenance and cleaning of greenhouses more efficient and in-expensive. In this process, a device was developed that automatically cleans and sweeps the roofs of the greenhouses. But designing the cle-aning robot was not enough. There also had to be a special solution for the machine to transport it to the customers and lift it to the roof of the greenhouse.

The requirements: Many of the greenhouses are in areas with very soft and moist soil – a four-wheel drive was essential. The vehicle had to accommodate the cleaning robot and have an efficient and easy-to-

use loader crane. This transport vehicle was developed together with VDA-Konstruktie, the regional dealer for PALFINGER cranes. The machine is transported on a 6x2 truck with a customized platform. A PALFINGER PK 34002 SH knuckle boom crane is used to set it on the roofs and then remove it again. The range of 21 meters ensures that the cleaning device can be lifted quickly and safely even in difficult locations. All of the crane functions and the ca-terpillar drive of the cleaning device are operated through the remote control of the crane.

THE CLEANER ON THE GLASS HOUSE

After a few difficult economic years, Greece is slowly rebounding. Eltrak S.A., an exclusive distributor of PALFINGER in Greece, is also feeling the positive signals. Only recently a PALFINGER PK 78002 SH was deli-vered to a reputable trucking com-pany in the Messinia province on the Peloponnes. The strong performan-ce, productivity, reliability and local

service were crucial to the company in deciding on PALFINGER. Eltrak handled the entire set-up of the crane, including the necessary rein-forcements, the fine-tuning and the training of the drivers.
