Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time w March 3rd, 2019Sir 27:4-7 w 1 Cor 15:54-58 w Luke 6:39-45
Dear Parishioners,Every year at the start of Lent I reread this prayer in the
hopes that I will remember it all year round. While I shared it with you in 2017, my first Lent here as pastor, I thought I’d share it with you again this year. Let us not just fast, but feast together as we together again begin this joyous season of Lent this Wednesday.
Lenten Prayer
Lent is a time to fast from certain things and feast on others.Fast from judging others; feast on the Christ within them.
Fast from emphasis on differences; feast on the unity of life.Fast from apparent darkness; feast on the reality of light.
Fast from thoughts of illness; feast on the healing power of God.Fast from words that pollute; feast on phrases that purify.
Fast from discontent; feast on gratitude.Fast from anger; feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism; feast on optimism.Fast from worry; feast on the divine order.
Fast from complaining; feast on appreciation.Fast from negatives; feast on affirmatives.
Fast from unrelenting pressures; feast on prayer.Fast from hostility; feast on non-resistance.Fast from bitterness; feast on forgiveness.
Fast from self-concern; feast on compassion for others.Fast from personal anxiety; feast on eternal truth.
Fast from discouragement; feast on hope.Fast from lethargy; feast on enthusiasm.
Fast from sluggishness; feast on discipline.Fast from isolation; feast on friendship.Fast from tyranny; feast on liberation.
Fast from diminishment; feast on growth.
Let us pray that this prayer can become a reality for us yet again during this Lenten Season.
Happy Lent,Fr. Joe

In the Gospel today, Jesus reminds us that we are known by the fruits of our generosity. In opening the doors of our hearts to this season of Lent, may we consider supporting those who turn to the Church for assistance, through life-changing ministries such as Addiction Re-covery Services or the Faith Community Nursing pro-gram. Your gift to the 2019 Catholic Appeal provides half of the funding for many important programs that enrich parish life, our Catholic schools, and the lives of many. Every gift has an immediate impact in our parish communities. Please find more information about this life-changing work in the envelope in your pew or visit our website at bostoncatholicappeal.org to view the latest video about the Appeal. Thank you!

Peace, Justice & Reconciliation
PrayerGod our Father, you created the world and sent your own Son to live among us, made of the same stuff,

restore us to your peace, renew us through your power and teach us to love all that you have created and to care
for the earth as your gift and our home. Action: Adjust your Thermostat
