A mandatory uniform fitting day is on Saturday, July 31st from 8 a.m. to noon. We will fit your student for their uniform, collect cost share fees and all your paperwork.
What is a cost share? It helps pay for the band outside of the classroom: salaries for the extra instructors, the fieldshow we perform, the music we use, buying new instruments and repairing old ones, competition entry fees, buses to goto events and more. Make sure you get your fees paid!
Freshmen, Sophomores and new members will start July 29 and 30 from 1-4pm. Band camp is Aug. 2nd - Aug. 6thfrom 12-9pm. Band camp culminates with a Barbecue Fundraiser and performance for family and friends on the last day. It's at 6:30 p.m. at La Mirada High School. There will be food for sale and a fundraising whipped-cream pie auction.
School starts August 12th and we need to be ready for those Friday football games! Our first home game is August20th. What can you do as parents to help support the band? Plenty! We can’t run this band without our parents. We needhelp with football game snack bar staffing (a big income source), bleacher setup at football games, help with props, uniforms and food at marching competitions, and just being there to cheer our kids on. We’re looking forward to aneducational, fun and successful marching season!
Sincerely, Robert Stearns, Band Director and the LMHS Band Boosters Board

4 Year Class Schedule (Marching Band)
It is possible to be in music for 4 years, graduate on time, and still have extra electives in your schedule. Follow this plan when picking your schedule for next year. All Marching Band/Guard students must be enrolled in Zero Period Band. Freshmen and Sophomores must
also be co-enrolled in Intermediate Band during the day unless otherwise agreed upon. Marching Band covers your F and PE requirement for graduation if you do all 4 years of Zero Period.
Classes offered during the day are: Intermediate Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Music Theory. All Freshmen and Sophomores in marching band must be co-enrolled in Zero Period and Intermediate Band, unless otherwise agreed upon. To join Jazz Band you must get teacher’s approval before signing up for that class.
