President’s Message

Dear LAA members and friends:

As the newly elected president of the Lebanese American Association (LAA), I am deeply honored to lead this ne organization again.

I have been an LAA member for over 15 years and I am impand I am impressed with the efforts exerted by the organization during those years in acting as a catalyst to bring together the Lebanese community in the Greater Bay Area.

Since its foundation in 1989, the organization has provided:1) Educational and medical and monetary assistance to institutions in Lebanon.2) Cultural and social activities to the Lebanese American community in the Bay Area.3) 3) Scholarship programs for higher education for needy Lebanese American students.

This year’s Board will be focusing on the following objectives:1) Increase the membership by 100%. 2) Increase the contributions by 30%. 3) Reach out to the youths in our community. 4) Update our community contact list5) Plan more social events to bring the LAA community together.

SSome of the events planned for this year include:1) A concert with Najwa Karam in collaboration with Petra Entertainment, on May 29th, 2011.2) A fundraising dinner on April 9, for the Al-Kafaat, http://www.al-kafaat.org (a charitable institution), 3) A picnic or two (May 22 and ???), 4) A monthly youth event, 5)5) A banquet in November and others.

Your pro-activity and support are crucial to meet these objectives and to the continuous success of the LAA. Therefore the Board wishes that you become an LAA member and that you participate in the LAA yearly events.
