Factory of the Future The Italian Intelligent Factory National Cluster
The Italian Intelligent Factory is a 10 ML Euro funded national cluster initiative addressing how disruptive
technological trends, such as Internet of Things, 3dprinting , advanced Robotics and innovative ICT
solutions are changing the manufacturing landscape towards what many call the
4° industrial revolution.
The project is based on 4 parallel objectives looking at how process standardisation, people upskilling and overall «webification» of the Industry may help Europe and its traditional manufacturing hubs (e.g. Germany, Italy, Uk...) survive global competition and lead again within 2020.

FACTS TODAY
• It is 20% more expensive to manufacture inthe U.S. than it is in its nine largest tradingpartners (excluding cost of labor)
• Taken alone, manufacturing in the UnitedStates would be the 10th largest economy inthe world
• Manufacturing represents 67% of private-sector R&D spending as well as 30% of thecountry’s productivity growth
• For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.48 is added to the economy, thehighest multiplier effect of any economicsector.
• 500.000 jobs created during last 3 years and600.000 unfilled jobs
2020 GOALS
• The United States will be the bestplace in the world to manufactureand attract foreign direct investment.
• Manufacturers in the United Stateswill be the world’s leading innovators.
• The United States will expand accessto global markets to enablemanufacturers to reach the 95percent of consumers who liveoutside our borders.
• Manufacturers in the United Stateswill have access to the workforce thatthe 21st-century economy demands.

The LACE ProjectLearning Analytics Community Exchange
LACE is a EU support action project (Grant Nr 619424) funded in the last FP7 TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) call in order to
1. Organise a range of activities to actively and passively integrate communities that are conducting Learning Analytics and Education Data Mining research
2. Engage and expose early practitioner adopters, and those who are building first-generation commercial or open-source software.
3. Stimulate creativity and accelerate the identification of viable and effective solutions to real problems, and hence to drive both current research and technology transfer.
EU Grant Nr 619424
The LACE Community aims to:Objective 1 – Promote knowledge creation and exchangeObjective 2 – Increase the evidence baseObjective 3 – Contribute to the definition of future directionsObjective 4 – Build consensus on interoperability and data sharing
