LOOKING FOR THE OFFENSE TO AWAKE: Since recording their best half of the season against Corban on Dec. 15 (making 50-percent of their field goal attempts), the Lady Yotes offense has struggled mightily. Over the past five halves, the squad has converted just 38-of-151 field goal attempts (.252 percent) – averaging just 10 points per quarter. STRANGE SUPERLATIVES FROM EASTERN GAME: Eastern Oregon became the eighth ranked foe to play C of I (the most of any team in the NAIA Division II) – joining Carroll, Lewis-Clark State (twice), Montana Western, Providence, Oregon Tech, Southern Oregon and Northwest Christian – with only the Lady Yotes games against Montana Tech and Corban featuring unranked teams. The loss to EOU was the Yotes worst conference defeat in program history – surpassing a 44-point loss to Southern Oregon in 2016 – and the third-worst loss ever (49 points at MSU-Northern (81-32 in 1980), 48 points at Utah (93-45 in 2001)). It marked the 13th-straight game C of I has lost the boards (the eighth-time by a double-digit margin) and the seventh time the team has failed to score 50 points in a game. The 40 points scored by the Lady Yotes were the fewest by a C of I team since tallying 33 points at Westminster in 2014. PUTTING 2017 IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR: C of I hopes that the 2018 portion of the schedule with give the team new life, as the squad sits at 1-10 on the year – the toughest start in program history. After a brutal schedule to start the year, the Yotes will play their next four games and 11 of the next 13 against unranked teams – including eight games against teams below the .500 mark – the first games of the season against sub-.500 teams. ROAD SWING CONTINUES: The Lady Yotes will play five of their first seven Cascade Conference games this season on the road, including two games in Washington this weekend – their second and third straight games away from the Activities Center. Things will look up for the team later this month, as C of I will play five-straight home dates and seven of their final nine league counters on their home floor. OPPONENT PREVIEW – NORTHWEST: After a 15-day layoff from competition, the Lady Yotes return to action Friday inside cozy Northwest Pavilion and a key match-up against Northwest University. The Eagles (5-9, 2-4 CCC) played a difficult preseason schedule – going 0-5 against NAIA Division I opponents – before rebounding to go 4-4 over their last eight games. NU has struggled offensively this year, averaging just 60 points (making 36-percent of their field goals and just 27-percent of their 3-point tries), while committing nearly 19 turnovers per night. The offense revolves around speedy guard Mariah Stacona (12.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.1 spg), who leads the NAIA in steals with 58. Returners Kalee Fowler (10.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg) and Hannah Carlson (10.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg) having a much bigger role this season – and post Miranda Langenhorst (9.8 ppg, 10.2 rpg) leads the circuit in both rebounds per game and field goal percentage. C of I swept the season series last year for the first time since 2012-13 and has a 14-8 all-time record in NU’s 450-seat gym. OPPONENT PREVIEW – EVERGREEN: The road trip ends Saturday against a resurgent Evergreen team that is off to their best start since 2014. The Geoducks (5-5, 3-3 CCC) are 3-1 at home this year and are looking to rebound after dropping their past three games – combating a poor rebound margin (-4.1) and 17 turnovers a game with nearly 80-percent shooting from the free throw line and an offense that averages 67 points a night. TESC returns just one starter from last season, with newcomers Jahpera McEachin (14.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg), Cayla Jones (14.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg), Alexis Higginbotham (12.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Deidra Miller (8.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg) leading the team in scoring. The Lady Yotes have won 16-of-20 all-time meetings in Olympia and swept the season series in 2016-17. AROUND THE LEAGUE: Heading into the first weekend of 2018, Eastern Oregon remains the lone unbeaten team in the CCC – coming off back-to-back 100-point outings against Walla Walla – including a record-setting 25-for-38 performance from outside the arc on Saturday night. Both Northwest Christian and Southern Oregon remain the top contenders – each with just one loss – and both completed weekend sweeps on their own home floor. This week, Multnomah and Warner Pacific play host to NCU and Corban, with EOU and the Yotes heading to Evergreen and Northwest. Oregon Tech will play a home doubleheader vs. Walla Walla, with SOU earning the bye weekend.

GAME 1 RECAP - CARROLL48, COLLEGE OF IDAHO 37: CALDWELL, Idaho – Alyssa Case had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the College of Idaho, but the Lady Yotes could not overcome a poor shooting night, as Carroll College grinded out a 48-37 victory in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. Hannah Dean hit back-to-back jump shots in a 10-2 fourth quarter run, as the Saints (1-0) earned their first win of the season. An 8-0 run spanning the first two quarters gave Carroll a 15-7 lead with eight minutes left in the half – but Jaida Klor scored seven of her 11 points in a 12-4 run to close the period, as the Lady Yotes (0-1) pulled even at 19-19 at the break. Case drained a 15-foot jumper midway through the third quarter to tie the game at 26-26, but two Taylor Salonen buckets and two Oona Harrington free throws gave the Saints the lead back – with the NAIA Division I team holding the lead the rest of the way. Mikaela Olson had 13 points and Michaela Dowdy scored 10 in the win for Carroll, as the Saints withstood a 4-for-27 performance from outside the arc. C of I made 12-of-13 free throws on the night, but shot 26-percent from the field and recorded 21 turnovers.

GAME 4 RECAP - U. OF PROVIDENCE 74, COLLEGE OF IDAHO 66: CALDWELL, Idaho – Keahi-lele Roy led three College of Idaho players in dou-ble-figures with a career-high 16 points, but a furious second half comeback by the Lady Yotes fell short, as the University of Providence earned a 74-66 victory inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. The Argos (8-0) limited C of I to just 21 points in the opening 20 minutes, as Parker Esary scored 10 of her 18 points as the Montana school bolted to a 35-16 lead and took a 36-21 lead to the locker room. Roy and the Yotes (0-4) had other ideas, as C of I used an 11-2 run, getting five points from the junior and four Jaida Klor free throws, to cut the gap to 54-48 late in the third quarter. Molly Herron and Esary answered for UP, scoring the last six points of the period to extend the lead to 12. C of I had one last flurry, as Madison Holly canned a triple and Roy converted a driving lay-up to get within 71-64 – but could not get closer. Klor had 14 points and converted three 3-pointers, with Alyssa Case scoring 14 to lead the Yotes – who made 50-percent of their second half field goal tries and set a season scoring mark. Stephanie McDonagh led UP with 19 points and eight rebounds, as the Argos used a commanding 16-5 edge in offensive rebounds, outscoring C of I 16-2 in second chance points. GAME 5 RECAP - MONTANA WESTERN 68, COLLEGE OF IDAHO 42: CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho trimmed an early 18-point deficit to six points in the third quarter, but nationally-ranked Montana Western cranked up the offense with a 30-8 run to pull away for a 68-42 victory in Game 2 of the 18th-Annual Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. Western came out firing – jumping out to a 20-2 lead, as the Yotes (0-5) missed their first 11 shots and didn't convert their first field goal until a Sophia Jackson 3-pointer inside the final minute of the first quarter. C of I battled back, holding the Bulldogs without a made field goal over the final four minutes of the second quarter, as Alyssa Case scored all seven of her points in the 9-1 run that got the hosts within 27-19 at the break. The rally continued in the third quarter, as a Keahi-lele Roy driving lay-up cut the margin to 36-30 with 5:23 left in the frame. The visitors cranked up the defensive pressure – holding C of I to just two made field goals over the next 13 minutes – while finding their offensive rhythm. A Briana King 3-point play and a Tori Anderson triple were the bookends of an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 44-30, with Anderson adding a triple and a jumper in a 12-0 fourth quarter run than built a 66-38 lead inside the final three minutes. Jackson led C of I with nine points, making 3-of-6 3-point tries – with the rest of the team combining to go 0-of-22 from outside the arc. GAME 7 RECAP - COLLEGE OF IDAHO 52, OREGON TECH 49: KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Amanda Constant missed a game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer as the College of Idaho opened Cascade Conference play with a stunning 52-49 victory at Oregon Tech inside Danny Miles Court. The Lady Yotes (1-6, 1-0 CCC), playing their first non-NAIA Division I opponent of the season, erased an 11-point first quarter deficit and held off OIT to end a six-game losing streak. Madison Holly canned two big 3-pointers late in the contest – one breaking a 42-42 tie, the second to push the C of I lead to 48-44. Keahi-lele Roy added a driving bucket as the shot clock expired with 1:10 remaining to give the visitors a 50-46 lead – with C of I holding off the late Owls (5-4, 0-1) rally. OIT closed the first quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 19-8 lead, only to see C of I score the first 12 points of the second quarter – getting a deuce and a trey from Adriana Vickery, an Alyssa Case triple and lay-up and a Lindy Westendorf bucket to regain the lead at 20-19. The lead for either team did not climb higher than four the rest of the way. Roy led the Yotes with 11 points, with Case and Holly each finishing with nine.
