As a part of global hospitality group operating in diverse locations, Laguna Lăng Cô’s concept of sustainability seeks to create long-term value for multiple stakeholders and destinations and to inspire associates, guests, and partners to take a wider consideration encompassing a long-term view when making business decisions.
The sustainability agenda requires leadership to walk the talk by developing a management infrastructure to execute the various strategies in achieving the goals set in creating value for the environment, business, and community. It is a collective effort, one step at a time, that the Banyan Tree community, including our associates, partners, and hotel guests, together contributed in creating a quality environment for all.
MissionWe want to build globally recognized brands which by inspiring exceptional experiences among our guests, instilling pride and integrity in our associates and enhancing both the physical and human environment in which we operate, will deliver attractive returns to our shareholders.
INTRODUCTION
LAGUNA LĂNG CÔ SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY 2017 | 4
As a socially responsible business, Banyan Tree, the developer of Laguna Lăng Cô integrated resort, was founded with the core value of driving sustainable development. Banyan Tree Global Foundation was established in 2009 with the call to arms of embracing the environment and empowering the people.
Laguna Lăng Cô, as part of the Banyan Tree Group, has had sustainability at its core since the very first days, from its planning and design to its daily operation. We are proud to be a resort well-known for its socially responsible practices with our wide variety of programmes, from Group initiatives like Greening Communities and Seedlings Mentorship, to Laguna Lăng Cô’s own special projects such as the popular
English Summer Camp for local children. These long-term programmes not only sustain the resort’s position as a leading CSR practitioner in the hospitality industry, but also ratifies Banyan Tree’s long-held values of being a responsible world corporate citizen.
It is my hope that Laguna Lăng Cô will continue to develop and grow in harmony with the surrounding environment and community where our resort is located, and all these efforts will have long-standing effects in the next ten, twenty years, turning Lăng Cô into a vibrant and engaged world-class holiday destination in Central Vietnam.

INTRODUCTION
LAGUNA LĂNG CÔ SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY 2017 | 5
Banyan Tree and Angsana Lăng Cô are dedicated to delivering service excellence and to operating in a responsible and sustainable way.
The accomplishments achieved in 2017 were made possible due to the hard work and dedication of all associates who continue to identify impactful ways to respond to local community and environmental needs. Our resorts take pride in facilitating meaningful CSR guest involvement. In 2017, we had more than 400 guests joined us in activities such as English teaching, supporting deaf young artists, visiting disadvantaged children and the elderly in Lang Co etc.
The resorts of Banyan Tree and Angsana Lăng Cô look forward to continuing to make a difference to the lives of our local communities.

We believe that to truly be successful in global tourism and to grow our business, we must provide the means to grow the community that we are part of. Laguna Golf Lăng Cô prides itself on being a leader in environmental stewardship. Environmental sustainability is our social responsibility and we cannot have one without the other. There is an intrinsic value in providing assistance to those who need it most and the reward is in the act itself. Our golf course embraces the true essence of sustainability and we cherish our natural surroundings. By protecting ancient rice fields incorporated into the golf course design, we provide an organic food source for the local community. We also engage our guests in a journey through a planned landscape which protects and showcases the natural beauty of the native flora and fauna found in our region, in addition to highlighting protected sensitive areas.
Our commitment is continuing to make the positive impact on the surrounding community and environment.
Adam Calver
Director of GolfLaguna Lăng Cô, Central Vietnam
For Laguna Lăng Cô, CSR is not just a responsibility, but also a privilege and opportunity to embrace our environment and support local communities. We started in Lăng Cô from small efforts that adapted locally based on the needs of communities from planting trees, teaching English for children, caring for elderly, to Seedlings Program to provide training and job opportunities for disadvantaged youths.
Today, we are delighted to see how those small efforts made big impacts on our communities after 5 years. Above all, each associate, management member, and resort guest is our sustainability ambassador who is playing a key role in achieving this great success.
Taking a lead amongst other enterprises in the region with great achievements, we do hope Laguna Lăng Cô to continue to be a leading company on its long term sustainability journey, as together we achieve more!

“DoR Lal”- Tripadvisor | Seedlings Program’s guests
Seedlings dinner program- a Banyan tree mentoring program me whereby they train disadvantaged local teens to have F&B related skills. The dinner and team was great -xinh the restaurant manager, chef Nguyen and our server (tu) did a great job, and I wish that there is more done to promote this dinner set.
Ms. Yvonne | Organic Farm’s guests
Thank you for your warm hospitality and we indeed enjoyed ourselves during the 1.5hours session. The session was indeed fruitful and informative for 3 of us, especially my daughter who has great interest in organic farming. The hot weather did not deter her from being a farmer, instead she understood the hard work of all farmers better and is more determined to be one when she grows up.
Mr. Joe and his family |English Is Fun guests
Thank you very much for organizing such meaningful activity. Teaching English for local children is such a wonderful experience and we both think this is the BEST and most fun activity during our stay in Banyan Tree. It is such a rejuvenating experience seeing the kids laughing so genuinely.
Mr. Dayman & Ms. Bradbury | Laguna Lăng Cô guest
Our time at Banyan Tree was very special and we have lots of amazing memories of our time with you. The emphasis you place on CSR certainly helps to confirm our commitment to your hotel brand. We look forward to staying with you again.
Marjorie & Darren | English Is Fun’s guests
Thank you. We both enjoyed joining the English class and it is great to see Laguna’s commitment to the local community. It was also great to be able to join the class with you and we certainly had a lot of fun. We will be better prepared when we return next year and look forward to the opportunity to support this very worthy community initiative again.
Leicester and family| Seedlings program’s guests
We ate in Saffron and Watercourt which I would say was good food but definitely had better Thai food. Best meal by far was in the seedlings restaurant (restaurant run by a programme/apprenticeship for local disadvantaged teenagers) the food was so fresh and delicious plates of food.
NatashaTretiach | English Is Fun’s guests
On our holiday visiting Vietnam, we wanted a few days of complete indulgence. The Banyan Tree surpassed all of our expectations, further surprising us with their policy of social responsibility. For us, that meant a morning spent with local schoolchildren, which was a brilliant experience, a real highlight.
Funky Travel Junky | English Is Fun’s guests
There’s a huge programme of activities on offer and we took part in a some kite-flying as well as the option to teach English at a local school. Run CSR department, this was the highlight of our stay and an experience we’d highly recommend especially for those travelling with kids. It’s would be a good idea to take some stickers, pencils or similar for the kids who were enthusiastic and great fun to meet. The English class was a joyful experience.
Jeff & Nancy | Silent World Art Exhibition guests
Thank you Laguna Lăng Cô for providing a great opportunity to these young artists to share their works. I am very happy that I could be here at Silent World Art Exhibition opening ceremony this time. I hope to have opportunity to comeback and see the improvement in artworks next year.
