M A N O R S A N D TH E I R STO R I E SVIP GUESTS, DESERTERS AND CHILD WIVES

Did you know that Urajärvi Manor is haunted? And did you know that there is a cave where deserters used to hide during the Continuation War? Or that field marshal Mannerheim visited Rapala Manor in Sysmä when it was under the management of general Rudolf Walden?

There are several manors with exciting histories in Päijät-Häme that you can visit. What is also exciting is why there are so many manors in Sysmä. They say that the devil toured the world to gather people into his sleigh. The sleigh toppled over close to Sysmä Church, and nobles were hurtled all around the parish.

Restaurant on the lakeshoreCasseli, nestling close to the Sibelius Hall on the shore of Lake Vesijärvi, is a high-quality dining and social restaurant with its own distinctive atmosphere. It stands on the site of the old Lahti Glass Factory.

The impressive restaurant building was constructed in 1999, but its architectural style is the same as in the Glass Factory of the 1920s. The res-taurant gives splendid views straight onto Lake Vesi-järvi. Its large windows integrate the winter landscape into the dining experience.

On weekdays, Casseli serves á la carte lunch and a delicious buffet lunch. In its range of dishes, inter-national cuisine meets up with traditional Finnish culinary art. The wine list changes with the seaso-nal menus to complement the culinary delight. The restaurant was awarded the recognition plates of the Chaine des Rotisseurs in autumn 2006. Casseli is at its best in the evening before a concert; for a busi-ness lunch; for lunch with a friend; or as a celebration and meeting restaurant for a company.

WE OFFER 2016

The Päijät-Häme region has six golf courses. Each golf course offers lessons, regard-less of your age or level of skill.

GREENIÄ KOKO SEUTU’S website offers detailed infor-mation about golf competi-tions and other events taking place at the golf courses of the Päijät-Häme region.

The website also provides information about the golf courses, such as how to get there, how to book a tee ses-sion and what kind of facilities are offered on the the course.

GOLF IS AN EXCELLENT WAY to explore the beautiful and diverse nature of the Päi-jät-Häme region. You can play on the ridges of Salpausselkä or next to a nature trail, or per-haps you would like to play in the pine forest scenery. Pick your course, or try them all.
