Mission Statement

“Lake County Free Medical Center exists to provide access to medical health services for the underserved to improve the health of individuals, families, and our community.  The focus of the center is to promote and advocate healthy living through prevention, treatment, and education.”

PhilosophyThe philosophy of the Lake County Free Medical Center reflects the vision and values of our caring staff.  Every person deserves quality healthcare with a personal touch.  Through our actions, we expect to demonstrate the following:

Each patient and family is unique.  Patients come from many different backgrounds and will be treated with respect without regard to lifestyle, age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and ability to pay.  Patients can expect care that is individualized, compassionate, and culturally sensitive. 

Care provided to all, regardless of their ability to pay for services.  The center will serve the uninsured, or underinsured at no cost. 

Care will be based on evidence-based practice, ethical principles, and provided by licensed staff that are up to date on all credentials. 

The center will be clean, and inviting.  Patients and families can expect a warm friendly environment with, professional, caring, competent staff that are all excited to serve.

Goals & Objectives Obtain financial backing by way of government grants and public

donations to ensure a solid financial base for the organization.

To strive to maximize resources to ensure the best clinic operations.

To seek grants and donations fundamental in maintaining a budget that fits our organizations needs.

Provide patient services including treatment with a focus on wellness.

To assess learning needs of patients and families in order to provide education materials they can understand at the first visit.

To reduce risk factors for disease prevention, improve health and wellness in the community within the first year of opening.

Promote healthy families and community through prevention, treatment, and education.

Goals & Objectives To increase community awareness about health and healthcare resources thus

improving quality of life after opening the clinic.

To provide appropriate prevention and treatment education at each visit.

Recruit volunteers that are competent, caring, and excited to donate their skills and time.

To ensure each patient is receiving the competent care that they deserve and are pleased with the caring service by the end of each visit

To provide care from different disciplines enhancing quality of healthcare and eliminating expensive emergency room visits.

Make current information available to all patients and their families about specific diseases and conditions and the affects that they may have on their health. 

To ensure patients will be able to identify risks factors and preventative measures for their individualized condition by their next visit.

To increase each patients knowledge about their individuals conditions or disease by the end of their visit

Job Advertisements The Lake County Free Medical Center will advertise for a registered

nurse. The Lake County Star is the local paper. Runs weekly through Thur. The rate for fifteen words or less for six weeks $39.60. additional charge per word, per day, after fifteen words (The Lake County Star, 2014).

American Journal of Nursing. This advertisement is free for 30 days. Includes hyperlink to website, or email and has not text limit which allows the job posting to be descriptive (Wolters Kluwer, 2014).

Other ways to advertise the clinic- local hospitals such as Spectrum Health Reed City and Big Rapids, and Mercy Hospital Cadillac. Job opportunities would be posted as both volunteer, and paid. Local radio stations WYBR (102.3), WWBR (100.9), and Northern Christian Radio (91.1) to give an interview on the air for the clinic’s support. Air time will allow for advertisement & donations

Budget federal and state grants. Donations can be inconsistent, therefore they will be

used on supplies and advertising, not in the direct budget. In future years, donations can be saved from the previous year and will then be used in the following year’s budget.

first year’s budget will be based off of funding from two grants. The first grant has an award floor of one and half million dollars. This funding opportunity will require the medical center to participate in research to examine the effects of environmental factors on the health and well-being of children (Grants.gov, 2014). “This program encourages strong links between disciplines in the basic, applied, clinical and public health sciences to prevent disease and promote health of all children (Grants.gov, 2014).

second grant the Rural Health Network Development Program. “The purpose of the Network Planning program is to assist in the development of an integrated healthcare network, if the network participants do not have a history of formal collaborative efforts” (Grants.gov, 2014). The amount of this grant is one hundred thousand dollars. Those eligible “must be a rural non-profit or rural public entity that represents a consortium/network of three or more health care providers” (Grants.gov, 2014)
