DESCRIPTION

The Lake County Visitors Bureau may represent Ohio's smallest county and compete with locations such as Cleveland and Lake Erie Shores and Islands for visitors, but for as small as we are, we certainly pack a punch in the social media landscape. We represent over a 1/4 of all engagement for Northern Ohio and utilize a variety of social media platforms to engage with our visitors and residents. We've seen a 107.6% increase in our social media followers just in one year - that's over double the people! Think Lake County for history, fishing, culinary tours, and beaches, but also Think Lake County for Social Media Impact. #WeLOVELakeCo

Lake County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio.

Our county

Our social media2013 proved to be an engaging and exciting year. On YouTube, our video featuring a ride in Sentimental Journey, a restored B-17 in honor of the Lost Nation Airport Gathering of Eagles Show, received 815 views – a Lake County Visitors Bureau record. For our engagement efforts on Facebook, we received a thank you letter from the National Park Service at James A Garfield National Historic Site for helping them achieve their goal of 1,000 page likes. Our partnership and event creation of #VisitLakeCoExhibit, an Instagram Photo Exhibit, grew our Instagram presence by over 1,000% and allowed us to reach a potential 10,000 visitors to Holden Arboretum in September. We launched our GeoTour, the 23rd in the world, and reached over 15,000 people with over 1,000 visits throughout Lake County. We created a Guest Blogger program to increase our diversity and engagement in our blog, and we joined forces with Cool Cleveland to promote our blog and events calendar. We were proactive with industry changes and created our own mobile app in-house that is available on iOS and Google Play. At our Annual Meeting, we presented our first Community Ambassador Award to Sally Kennedy, Guest Blogger and Lake County restaurant explorer extraordinaire. We were able to have 5 press releases published, 3 radio interviews, and one eastern United States article written about our social media efforts throughout the year.

We are the 23rd GeoTour in the world, joining ranks with the National Park Service, Jim Henson Company, Parks Canada, and the

Andes of Peru.

To encourage engagement, we give people photo opportunities around the tour. This gentleman has found the dunce cap at Lake County History Center.
