MISSION: Using photovoltaics, ecient irriga-tion, and low-maintenance native plant material throughout the site, Cal Expo will once again become the most impressive, sustainable specialty park in the world. Tourists and locals will come from all areas of the region to witness the State Fair in an updated, modern expressive form. All age groups will be oered an interac-tive, self-guided education of proper water management that will improve the economical and natural value of the urban environment throughout the year.

CONCEPT: By introducing sustainable water management practices on-site, ecological systems can become regenerated while decreasing the negative impacts of human involvement.

MISSION: Using Smart Growth principles to establish walkable neighborhood communities, vertical growth and development, and sustainable practices, I have created a new integrative urban and recreational design with a focus on the island’s history and the captivation of surrounding San Fransisco views. is holisic approach will create both a tourist attraction as well as a small community appeal to locals.

CONCEPT: By constructing a low-energy public transportation system that moves people around the island from hub to hub with a cental focus on agricultural elds, I have designed a space that is sustainable and futuristic yet practical.

MISSION: To design a self-sustainable garden to invite guests into the residence while maintaining the integrity of the natural beauty of surrounding agricultural elds.

CONCEPT: Using low maintenance and drought-tolerant California native plantings, a modern garden is formed. Purple and red highlights compliment the faded orange and chartreuse color palette while the grey stone brings a sophistication to the space.

MISSION: To design an interactive play space for neighboring children in South African community that includes both public and private council areas. e space allows children to memoralize AIDS victims and their families in a healthy and construc-tive environment.

CONCEPT: An edgy path takes each explorer through the garden to address personal experiences and journeys in their life with the willingness to change at every turn. Individual and communal nooks are created, while play areas are separated from mourning spaces in accordance to each user. ika

MISSION: To design a memorial for a Land-scape Architecture professor on the Cal Poly campus that integrates his teaching dedication, multi-educational practice, and sincere personality.

CONCEPT: Providing a space for students to reect on their teacher’s devotion and accom-plishments to the school will bring students from dierent disciplines together. A broken wall lies around a private and enclosed garden and gives students the opportunity to write his/her feelings and memories on the darkly stained concrete wall. Such words can be le for everyone to see or washed away by tricklng water dripping from the walls to renew and nourish the soul.

htMISSION: To create an outdoor railroad walking garden that memorializes the railroad and its place in our society in the past, present and future.

CONCEPT: By illuminating the landscape through captivating shadow patterns from the trees, lighted shallow pools of water, concrete statues, and vaulting fountains in the evening glow of the garden, the attention of visitors from busy Broad Street will be quickly pulled into the space and will have them returning for a history lesson at the on-site museum.

cles MISSION: To redesign the entrance to Pinnacles

using landforms, built forms, and natural forms.

CONCEPT: Using a variety of native trees and plants and a stone structure that reect the rough edges of the natural rock formation, I have made the highway into a round-about that vehicular drivers must experience while drawing attention to the entrance of the park.

MISSION: To redesign Meadow Park so that all its features are cohesive and provide a strong character and sense of place.

CONCEPT: Creating nooks and private spaces in the park give the visitor a sense of privacy while the open green spaces allow children to play frisbee or football near the creek. A new path is cut into the ground so that is irts with the water. Colorful character trees are strategically placed in the park to set and capture spaces and experiences while using the hills as a borrowed view.

MISSION: To create a residential backyard for a wealthy client with spaces for intimate and large gathering use.

CONCEPT: By changing the topography of the site to highlight grapevines that are grown in a purely artistic circular pattern and brightly colored character trees, guests to the ranch will certainly never have a dull evening at this venue.
