Welcome Guide

Badge and PassUpon arrival at NASA LaRC you must stop at the Badge and Pass Office located at the main entrance to obtain a visitor badge. Please have your photo identification card on hand. Once you receive your badge, you must have it displayed above the waist at all times while on Center.The Badge and Pass Office (BPO) will no longer accept state-issued driv-er’s licenses or identity cards that fail to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) standards. Currently, those states/territories include Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mas-sachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Oklahoma, and Washing-ton. Three of the above states (Minnesota, New York, and Washington) offer an Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL), which will be acceptable. EDLs are identifiable by the American Flag on the face of the card. If you possess a license from one of the above listed states, please ensure you have an alternate form of identification with a photograph such as a passport, military ID, or federal employee badge.

From Richmond/Williamsburg/Newport News AreaTake I-64 East to Exit 261B, Hampton Roads Center Parkway, NASA Exit; Proceed to the end of the Parkway (approximately 1.8 miles), mov-ing into the left lane; Turn left onto Armistead Avenue towards NASA/Langley Air Force Base; Go past the Langley Air Force Base West Gate, moving into the right lane (approximately 1.2 miles);Exit off Armistead Avenue to Commander Shepard Blvd. and the NASA Main Gate.

From HamptonGet on I-64 West to Exit 262B, Magruder Blvd., to NASA;Proceed North on Magruder Blvd. (approximately 1.5 miles); Exit Magruder Blvd. at ramp to NASA/Langley Air Force Base, Route 172 North; Continue on Route 172 North to NASA Main Gate (approximately 1.2 miles).

From Norfolk AreaTake I-64 West through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel;Remain on I-64 West to Exit 262B, Magruder Blvd.; Remain on Magrud-er Blvd. through three (3) traffic lights, moving into the right lane; Exit off Magruder Blvd. onto Commander Shepard Blvd. (Route 172 North, marked “NASA”) (approximately 1 mile from last traffic light, and before the overpass); Remain on Commander Shepard Blvd. through the traffic light (approximately 1.2 miles), and you will be at the NASA Main Gate.

Fire AlarmsIn case of a fire, alarms will sound and fire curtains and doors will drop down over stairwells and other open spaces on the second floor. Elevators will remain operational and can be used to exit the 2nd floor. Please exit the building in a timely manner and congregate in the open area away from the building in accordance with your location within the building.

Langley CafeteriaLangley’s cafeteria offers a variety of menu choices daily, including hot entrees and vegetables, fresh made soup & deli sandwiches, grilled items, pit-cooked barbecue, pizza, fresh baked subs, specialty salads, a twenty-four item salad bar, and a variety of desserts.

Afterburner Social LoungeThe Afterburner Social Lounge is located in Room 171 and is open weekdays from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Come and relax at the end of your day with friends! Enjoy your favorite ice cold beverage and complimentary munchies. Catch upon the latest news, sports, and weather on our big screen TV, special events, and much more.

Reid Conference CenterReid Conference Center is located in Rooms 100A, 100B and 100C and it spans the height of two floors. It has the flexibility to be divided into three rooms for smaller event needs and able to accommodate various seating options (auditorium-style, classroom style and conference/group table style) depending on your needs.Other conference spaces are also part of the Reid Confer-ence Center and they are located in Rooms 101, 103, 104, 106, 112, 113, 114 and 115.

Pearl Young TheatrePearl Young Theater is located in Room 108 and it accom-modates up to199 seats.

Splashdown CafeThe Splashdown Cafe is located in Room 110 at the NW 1st Floor Lobby area and is open 24 hours. This Cafe offers fresh food items selected to contribute to employee wellness and dietary needs, such as all natural, low fat, and gluten free snacks. The menu also offers salads, sandwiches, dairy prod-ucts, frozen entrees, and hot, cold and frozen beverages.

Exchange ShopThe Exchange Shop located in Room 165 provides em-ployees with a host of services and NASA memorabilia products for LaRC workforce and visitors. Services include sale of Fitness Center memberships, Exchange Loyalty/Discount cards, Auto car wash and detailing, Laundry and dry cleaning pick up point. Merchandise such as jackets, polo’s, T-shirts, sweat shirts, cups, tumblers, pins, umbrel-las, badge lanyards & holders are just a few of the NASA Memorabilia items available. A variety of sundry items are also available.

Navigation CenterThe Navigation Center is located on the second floor of the IESB building. This is the headquarters of the Collabora-tion and Talent Development Branch. The collaboration/assembly spaces are equipped with Wi-Fi/audio/video equipment in every room. All of the conference and train-ing spaces can be reserved using the Meeting Room Man-ager system via the website portal on @LaRC.
