Perran Tennis Club Tesco Appeal

Perranporth Tennis Club is participating in the Tesco Bags of Help scheme in the hope

of attracting funding to bring its grass courts up to Wimbledon standard. If you visit either the East

Street or North Cliff Tesco Express in Newquay between October 31 and November 13 (or know any-

one who might) please vote for Perran Tennis!

KS2 Football News

On Wednesday this week Perranporth entered the Mixed Year 5 and 6

Newquay School Football Tournament at Tretherras. Our team made a fantas-

tic start to the group stages by winning three games and drawing one. This

meant that Perranporth went through to the semi finals as group winners. We

then had to play a nail biting semi final against Cubert which after a 0-0 draw

had to be decided on penalties. Our team scored all 3 of their penalties and

saved all of Cubert’s! Incredible action! Sadly in the final our luck ran out as

we lost to a very strong Goonhavern team. The Perranporth players gave a fine

performance throughout the tournament and came away with a very impres-

sive second place out of the nine school teams! A huge well done to the boys

and girls that played.

What’s coming Up?

Half Term next week

Monday 31st Oct - INSET Day (children come back on Tues 1st Nov)

School Photos will be distributed during the first week back after half term

World Music Day

This week several pupils from Perranporth were invited to participate in the Richard Lander World Music day. This

was a wonderful opportunity for the children to broaden their musical experiences and have a go at playing some

very different instruments. The children took part in Gamelan singing, recorder sessions, steel pan and African

drumming workshops. A wonderful time was had by all and Mrs Laity came back with lots of ideas for music at Per-

ranporth too!

Bikeability

A massive ‘wheel done’ to our Year 6 children for passing their Bikeability assessments this

week. I’m very pleased to say that the entire class managed to show excellent cycling skills

and all thirty children met the standard. So we should now see excellent cycling around the

village with safe manoeuvres and signaling. Congratulations Year 6, now make sure you put the les-

sons into practice and keep safe and sensible out on the roads!

Adult Singing Group

The parent choir is doing really well; having fun and making a lovely sound too! It's not too late to join in. Sunday

evenings, 7.30pm in St Michael's Church. We will meet this Sunday (23rd) but not the following one (30th) resuming

on Sunday 6th Nov. Hope to see you there for Christmas songs!
