Lax Book
Lax Book is an iPad app for taking Men’s & Boy’s lacrosse stats.
Main Page
Teams – input your team and opponents
Games – input season’s games
Scorebook – enter game stats
Reports – various reports for single or
multiple games
Settings – application settings
Settings Page
Set the following for defaults used in
setting up a game
o Period in Quarters – turn on for quarters,
off for halves
o Minutes per period
o Minutes in overtime
o Enable running clock / Goal differential –
when taking stats the clock will not stop if
this is enabled and the goal differential has
been met
Select turn over after caused turn over –
when taking stats the selection of who
turned over the ball is automatically
displayed after caused turnover is entered
Set app colors to running team colors – if turned on the app will use
the team colors for bars and buttons

Running for team – select the team you are running the app for. Your
teams are defined when creating teams via the team page. By setting
this, reports and games will only show for this team.
Upload team stats – you can upload game stats that can be displayed
in the app “Lax Book Stats”. This button takes you to the setup
screen.

Select team and enter code – only teams
you have defined as “My Team” during team
setup will be listed. Go to
http://mobilestatapps.com/lax-book for more
information on obtaining a code.
In order for others to have access to
your teams stats in the “Lax Book Stats” app
you need to give them a code. Select the
team and press the “Email” button. This will
create a code you can send to someone via
email.

+ to add a new team
Swipe left on team row to see the
options for editing the team which is also
where you can update the team’s roster or
deleting a team. Keep in mind that if you
delete a team you will lose all stats for any
game the team was associated with.

To add the next year to an already existing team, use the edit feature.
When you are in the team page use the + sign next to the year. You will be
prompted as to whether or not you want to bring over players. You can then
delete players that are no longer on the team. Do not just change the name
on numbers for new players if you want the career stats in the companion
Lax Book Stats app to be accurate. Delete the player that is no longer on
the team and add the new one.

Team name - required
Head coach – optional
Select season year (In edit mode you can
switch between seasons. If you are adding a
year, you will be asking if you want to bring
over prior year’s players).
If HS/College is on, you will have the
option to set the player’s year in school for
reports.
If this is one of your teams, make sure
“My Team” is on. This feature is used in
reporting and controls setting the default
team for the application in case you run for
multiple teams (done under Settings).
If the team is set as one of your teams, you can set the colors for the
team. If turned on in settings, the app will use these colors for bars
and buttons.

Player Page
Jersey # - required (If a player changes jersey
number during the season, just modify the
number. You do not need to add a new player.
The stats will show under their new number).
Position – optional
First name – optional
Last name – optional
Grade - optional
Active – defaults to an active player, you can
turn off if you want to remove a player from
showing up while keeping stats during a game.
Press the save icon in the top bar to save. The
app will stay on this screen to allow multiple
player entry. Press the X in the top bar when
done.

Swipe to the left to edit or delete a game. All
stats will be deleted for the game.

Home team switch – on if your team is
the home team, off if your team is the
visiting team
Opponent
Use the switches below each team to
disable any stats you do not want to take or
report on for either team
Set any game specific items related to
period, time and running clock.
Game finished – this gets set when a
game is complete. If for any reason you
need to modify stats for a completed game,
turn this off, save and make any
adjustments under scorebook.

Stats Page
Press on FO label to set player taking
face off. The players who are selected for
taking FO during the game will appear in a
button list before all the other players.
Press on Goalie label to set player in
goal. Only players who have their position as
goalie during player setup are listed. You can
use the “Add” button if a player isn’t listed.
Press on team name to set starters and
in home player. You swipe to the left of the
player to set these.
Press on score to see a game summary
If the start time of the period is wrong
when you first start, make sure you have it
correct in the game setting page. This will only work if the game stats
haven’t been started.
Use the – and + around the time left to make any minor adjustments
to the time left in the period
When time has run out in a period. Double tap the period label to
move to the next period.
Start the timer using the “Start” button, which switches to a “Stop”
button when the timer is counting down. The timer will stop
automatically when “Score” or “Penalty” is pressed unless in running
clock. Timeout will always stop the timer.
Clear and Failed Clear buttons log the stat for the team. No other
screens appear.
The other buttons are defined in more detail below

Shot button Ground ball/TO/CTO buttons
Start/Stop button available if the timer
status needs to be stopped or started
and not in running clock while entering
shot information.
If the shot missed the goal, press the
“Miss” button otherwise press the goalie
for a save or the goal if the shot hit the
pipe. Whatever is selected turns yellow.
Next press the player number who took
the shot, you can press the “Add”
button to add a player number not
shown or “Team” if you do not know
who took the shot.
Press the player number who the stat
goes to, you can press the “Add” button
to add a player number not shown or
“Team” if you do not know who.

Face Off button
When the Face Off button is pressed the player defined as the FO player gets the
faceoff win.
Select the player who got the ground ball off the face off. If there was no ground ball
press the “No Ground Ball” button or if there was a violation by the other team press
the “Violation” button.
Score button
If the goal was either a man up or man down goal, turn on the appropriate switch.
Press the player who score the goal, then the assist screen will pop up.
Press the “Unassisted” button or the player who assisted the goal.

Penalty button
Press type of penalty, use Other if not shown
Turn on switch for Personal or Technical
Turn on switch for Full-time if not releasable
Select length of penalty
Press “Select Player” to bring up player selection screen
The penalty will be shown above the “Time Out” button.
o Releasable penalties, the countdown will show in black and turn to red for the
last 10 seconds.
o Full time penalties, the countdown will show in blue and turn to purple for the
last 10 seconds.
o If there are multiple penalties for a player, the total time will show in the
countdown.
o If the penalties are releasable, a score by the opponent will clear the penalty
from the countdown.
o If in running clock, a new button will appear to start the penalties. Once play
starts you need to press this button to start the countdown on the new
penalties.

Display/Edit Stats
Swipe from the left of the stats entry page to see a listing of stats starting with the
most recent. You can scroll be swiping up and down on this list.
Swipe to the left on a specific stat to delete
Double tap to edit a specific stat and you will see the second screen
o This screen is a sample of editting a score. This gives you the option of adding
an assist and also changing man-up/man-down. These options do not exist on
a normal stat.
o Press update when changes are complete.
o You cannot update penalties from here. Those are explained next.

Press on the Penalties label under the Score button to see a list of penalties
Swipe to the left to delete the penalty
Double tap to edit the penalty and you will see the second screen
o Press the update button after making any adjustments to the penalty

Reports Page
Select game(s) to be reported on
Select either Summary, Player or Penalites
from the bottom bar for the report
You can email any reports using the email icon
in the header bar from any of the reports
