The first layer of clothing which is worn next to the skin should be close fitting such as polypropylene, polyester and wool.

The Second LayerThe second layer, such as long sleeved wool or nylon shirt should be loose fitting to keep you warm but, not hot.

Clothing made from wool or fleece makes an ideal third
layer.
The Third LayerThe third layer like a woollen pullover or jacket offers additional insulation to ensure that the bottom layers stay dry as well.
