THE CASE COMPETITION

The LBSA, in partnership with the Law & Business faculty, is pleased to announce that the 4th Annual Case Competition will be taking place at the Ted Rogers School of Management onFebruary 15th, 2013. Critical thinking and the application of legal knowledge are at the heart

of all courses offered in the Law & Business major, which also acts as the foundation of thiscompetition. The 4th annual Law & Business Case Competition will certainly provide students with the opportunity to excel in a competitive setting, network with legal professionals, andmost importantly showcase their critical thinking, communication, and legal knowledge.

By bridging the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge, students will be able tohone their skills by analyzing a case and presenting their arguments before a panel of law- yer judges. These cases provide our delegates with the opportunity to apply legal theory tofact situations that mirror realistic business issues that arise in today’s world. Our legal pro-fessionals come from some of Canada’s top rms, including: Gowlings, Stikeman Elliott,Miller Thomson, Cassels Brock, and Rubin Thomlinson. As our case competition contin-

ues to grow, we are expanding our judging panel this year as we are in the process of bring-ing in a Court of Appeal Judge. This is denitely a competition that you do not want to miss!

We welcomed external delegates from schools such as University of Toronto andQueen’s University last year. Our goal this year is to further diversify our competition by reaching out to more schools and students of various academic backgrounds. Stu-dents across all post-secondary institutions in Ontario are invited to compete. The topteam walks away with $700, second place wins $200, and third place wins $100 cash!
