TUITION FREE Adult Education Classes These tuition free classes are open year-round to members of the community for personal and professional development. Explore the following programs and courses offered at LBCC tuition FREE! Automotive Technology These classes provide students with new insights in automotive technology, hands-on experience and an overview of industry requirements needed for a career. The program offers automotive industry certifications in NC3/Snap-On Tools and prepares students to pass the ASE Certification Exam. Basic Skills Development These courses are designed to assist students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for college and career readiness. Students will participate in a self-paced, flexible, open-entry and exit courses that provide structured and supportive instruction. Cake Decoration Students will learn a variety of cake decorating techniques, including creating special effects, candy molds, novelties, and international styles for personal or professional use. The course will also teach recipes, tools and skill development, as well as business practices including delivery and set up techniques. Child Development Students will develop the skills and knowledge to set up and manage a small or large family childcare business in their own home or residence. Licensing regulations, business practices and basics of developmentally appropriate child development practices will be explored. Computer Office Studies This program includes classes for any learner from the first-time computer user to the advanced Excel user. Courses include the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, keyboarding techniques, and hardware repair. Related program courses include job search and interviewing skills to assist in entry or re-entry into the job market. Construction Apprenticeship Readiness This class prepares students to enter any of the apprenticeship trade programs. Training includes physical agility, blueprint reading, and industry awareness. Students will also receive industry certifications in CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 10. Counseling and Student Development This program prepares students to work through challenging academic areas and develop plans for success in college. Students will learn strategies to improve academic performance and appraise learning strengths and weaknesses through assessment and analysis of results. REGISTER NOW! Educational Development Students with intellectual, developmental and learning disabilities will learn skills necessary for social interactions, problem solving, communication and learning strategies to achieve success in academic, professional and personal settings.

English as a Second Language (ESL) A variety of courses and certificates of competency are available for adults seeking to learn English as a Second Language (ESL) including preparation for the U.S. Citizenship test.

Fashion Students learn discipline specific skills to communicate effectively, think critically, and possess the knowledge of technology essential to employment in design related occupations within the fashion industry or the requisite foundation for transfer to a 4-year college or university.

Forklift Operator CertificationThis 4-session course will provide basic lifting principles, equipment safety, load rating, stability and operation techniques. Upon completion, students will be certified as an industrial Truck Operator. The program meets all OSHA regulatory requirements and standards for the safe operation of forklift trucks. Courses are offered in English with assistance in Spanish.

Foundational SkillsThis program prepares students for academic success through increased knowledge of language arts and skills for the workplace and future educational opportunities.

General Educational Development (GED) Prep This program prepares students for the GED test by developing their knowledge of language arts, social studies, math, and science.

Home RemodelingThese courses teach students how to drywall, tile and paint for both home improvement projects and a career. Students will learn planning, budgeting, preparing, implementing and finishing of a wide range of home improvement projects.

Library TechnicianThis course prepares students for employment as paraprofessional library technicians, library assistants, and other library support staff. Students will receive the theory and practical experience needed to earn employment in school, public, special, academic libraries, and related information settings.

Money ManagementThese courses prepare students in financial literacy including budgeting, saving, debt, credit, as well as investing options for education, housing, and transportation.

Nursing Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Preparation This program prepares students with essential skills for the TEAS exam. Students gain knowledge and skills in the four test areas: Reading, Math, Science, and English Language and Usage.

Security Guard Training This certificate prepares students for the state mandated Security Guard licensure exam and careers in Private and Proprietary Security includ-ing Private Security Guard, Loss Prevention and Assets Protection Specialist, Proprietary Security Officer, and Proprietary Investigator. (Licensure is contingent on completing the training, obtaining a passing score on the state exam and a Livescan background check.)
