LCD-Array Kit MEAT 5.0 - Specificity

Control hybridisations with 250ng DNA/PCR.

Total DNA was extracted from fresh muscle tissue (200 mg) of each species using the

NucleoSpin Kit –FOOD, Macherey & Nagel, Germany, according to kit instructions.

DNA extracts were treated with RNase, calibrated to 100 ng/µl and species identity was

confirmed by partial sequencing of coxI or cytB genes.

PCR and hybridisation was performed according to the instructions of the LCD-Array Kit MEAT

5.0 Manual using 250ng DNA/PCR and the HotStar Taq Plus Mastermix, Qiagen, Germany.

No cross reactivity - apart from faint signals for Red deer with Reindeer DNA and vice versa -

could be detected (pink arrows).
