You can save time, frustration and money if you have bought your clothes by a plan.

It is a way to organize your clothing and your life to make your closet work for you.

We return home with too many pieces that don’t work together.

This hopefully will teach you how to make sense of your wardrobe and buy clothing that works for all occasions.

What is a Working Wardrobe

A wardrobe that is right for work, play, parties, evening, one that works for all occasions.

We are all short on time and if we wake up and find nothing to wear and just put anything on, how do you feel about yourself – not so good. Your day has already started on the wrong foot.

money to spend on clothes, how do you shop fast, save money and always look good?

The answer lies in the working wardrobe. Organizing your wardrobe may take some time in the beginning, but the results are unbelievable.

The working wardrobe applies to any taste level and any purse.

The Capsule Concept

The success of most successful women is the same formula – the capsule concept.

It is easy, saves time, helps you understand the clothes you love and the image you want to project.

It is simply the principle of a small group of clothing, coordinated in color with all interchangeable parts.

The capsule concept can be worked with all your wardrobe needs.

Looking Good – Feeling Good The first step you need to do is go to your closet and get

rid of clothing items that you have not worn in a year. Most of us have a hard time doing this because we all feel that we will use it some other time. Some other time never comes, and the closet becomes a clutter bin.

The second step that needs to be done is organize your clothes by color. Put all the reds together, blacks, white, etc.

The third step is to organize them by blouses, pants, jackets within the color.

This gives you an idea what you have, what colors you are prone to and what you will need to make your wardrobe a working wardrobe.

working wardrobe. You will probably want to change your look each day for them as for yourself.

The minimum working wardrobe consists of 12 pieces – two jackets, three skirts (or pants), four blouses, two sweaters, and one dress.

Decide on a color scheme - choose your favorite neutral, whether it is black, brown, navy, wine, gray or beige. (This will make it easy later on when you choose your accessories and your coat)

Discovering your best Capsule colors can be a new awakening. It may be that you’ve always worn gray, but this is the time to find the “real” you.

Do you feel strong in black, authoritative in gray, or do you feel more sincere in blue?

Does your fair skin light up against pale pastels or is the contrast more dramatic against black?

Does red make you feel daring or do you feel dominant in purple?

Take the following quiz to find out your true color preferences. Color Profile Arrange the clothes in your closet by color only. Include all skirts, pants,

jackets, and dresses. Which colors appear most often? Now eliminate the clothes you don’t wear very often. What colors are

dominant in the remainder of your wardrobe? What color do you associate with each of the following adjectives?

Now circle those adjectives you would like to have applied to you.

what color would it be?

If you were invited to lunch with friend that you had not seen in a long time, what color outfit would you choose?

Think of outfits you have worn that have brought you many compliments. What colors are they?

If you could buy one outfit that you have seen recently in a store or in a magazine, what color would it be?

Think of someone whose style of dressing you admire. What colors do they usually wear?

Have you recently tried on something, loved it, but were afraid to buy it? What color was it?

Looking Good – Feeling Good Every woman who works in an office or meets with

clients or other people in business situations needs one suit in a dark solid color.

One Jacket

One skirt or pants

The second jacket and skirt or pants may be lighter color or in a subtle pattern such as a tweed, herringbone, or houndstooth.

The most important thing to remember is that whatever you wear, it must look right on you. If it looks good on a high-fashion model, but drowns you out, don’t buy it. (even it a naïve salesperson tells you it is the latest thing)

now we need blouses or sweater. You need at least 3 to 4 blouses or sweaters you can wear with the jackets, skirts or pants. These blouses or sweaters can be solid color, prints, etc. These sweaters and blouses must work with both jackets, skirts or pants. They must be interchangeable.

The next pieces are to acquire a cardigan, dress and a pair of jeans or casual pants.

This makes up the minimum wardrobe capsule. Accessories such as scarves, jewelry, belts, bags and shoes complete the wardrobe.
