In fact there is as much terrace - open and shaded - as indoorspace at Le Cannelle. Each room easily accesses the outdoorswith its own retractable screen door allowing you to sleepwith the sound of the ocean to ensure a deep, nurturing rest.Each space is intimate but well-considered and modern withskylights and windows placed just so to provide natural lightbut leaving the rooms restful and calm. There is always abreeze but the bedrooms and living room are furnished withceiling fans to ensure your comfort. For groups of up toeight, the layout provides various gathering spaces -- to relaxin the outdoor lounge, dine overlooking the sea and surf,write 'the book' or otherwise -- at a table shaded but with theblue-green line of the horizon in full view. If you are a groupof three couples, this is a perfect perch with equivalentensuite bedrooms. This is in an idyllic setting for two in fact,there is no necessity to share this expansive peace withanyone if you do not prefer.

And how do you fill your days when you want to wander andexplore? Key activities are day on a private boat and/or onGiglio. We feel eBikes - for the duration of your stay at thehouse - can make all the difference. Luca will come to deliverand to take them away and a day-touring with him can bearranged--- a lot of fun. You can make an excursion toCapalbio -- a combination of I Giardino dei tarrocchi, thevillage for lunch and shopping, or Ultima Spiaggia or LaDogana for a day on sand. Do leave time to take it slow -- amorning excursion with lunch out or back to the house fortime on the terrace followed by a later afternoon out beforedinner at home is all the structure you need. We are here tohelp with logistics and specifics.

This location is not for everyone but it is very much for thosewho love, even crave, beauty, nature, simplicity and quiet. It isa bit wild and a bit isolated, in all candor. But so worth it. Wehave expressly selected Le Cannelle for its appeal to thosewho are drawn to the idea of getting away and undoing -- butin Italy. That means eating and drinking well and letting anunhurried, local life unfold naturally with the attentions andcare of staff to ensure you savor your vacation to the fullest.

OVERVIEWLe Cannelle nestles along the rugged shores of Tuscany'sMonte Argentario, facing south to sea and sky, birds andbreeze and limitless sunsets. Isola del Giglio and Giannutripunctuate the otherwise unbroken line of the horizon. All ofwhich is to say you will enjoy the ultimate in indoor/outdoorliving at Le Cannelle. Each day is a variation on fresh air andsun plus swimming, walking, biking, boating, playing andgenerally enjoying yourselves in between stretches of dining,strolling, shopping and snoozing.

This still-unspoiled landscape harbors a special interpretationof the modern day refuge and retreat, a private community.The Italian families who come to vacation at this far boundarycome to gather - as you do --- away from their busy full-uplives. This particular property is an overflow accommodationfor the owners' principal residence, tucked along the hillsideat a comfortable distance and thereby ensuring privacy for all.One of the great benefits of this arrangement is you will belooked after by her well-trained and knowledgeable staff,even perhaps getting to meet your gracious, discreet hostduring your stay.

The structure of Le Cannelle is intimate in scale, tuckedbelow the road and settled harmoniously into the land. Youare poised just above the sea and given a private, narrowwalking path - two minutes downhill - to the ocean's edge.Here you find a natural sculpture of large rocks from which toimmerse yourselves in these clean, crystalline waters. Byspecial permission from the town, the owner has thoughtfullyconstructed a wood platform with umbrellas and loungers forenjoying time by the ocean.


• Winding, local road brings you to the private, gatedcommunity of Le Cannelle. Communal pool withlimited parking. Tennis courts are also available.

• Paved drive (very steep, see What to Know) leadsdownhill past native stone pines and wild grasses tothe house, itself shaded by native trees and built oflocal stone. Panoramic coastline views to the south,west and east including Giannutri and Isola Rossa.

• Private ocean front reached via rustic path, twominutes down hill. Private wood platform withumbrellas and chairs for relaxing seaside. (see Whatto Know).

• Ocean Terrace of 150m2 spans the length of thehouse, entirely sea-facing and open to the stunningviews. Multiple dining and lounging configurationsfor 8+ with both shade and sun options. Seamlessindoor/outdoor living with direct connection fromthe Ocean Terrace to each room of home. Hot/Coldoutdoor shower.

• Shade Terrace between the living and bedroomsspaces, furnished for dining for up to eight, alsofunctions as extra workspace for kitchen, writing table,etc.

Public ferries run from Porto Santo Stefano toGiglio -- definitely worth a day. Taxis, eBike rentals andmotor scooters can be rented once there.• Private day charters to explore on your own timetable --simply enjoying the pristine delights of the TuscanArchipelago - are a signature experience. Have lunch onboard, snorkel when you want. Excursions for scuba diving orfishing can be arranged.• eBikes make the entire Argentario accessible and keep youactive and outdoors in the process. We can arrange fordelivery and collection to the house so you have them toenjoy throughout your stay.• The Maremma is full of interesting and diverse activities forchildren. Most compelling is I Giardini dei Tarocchi, anoutdoor sculpture museum. • Your time at Le Cannelle can be a blissful combination ofoutdoor activity, fabulous food and exceptional sunsets.Touring from this location is limited as the house is set 24minutes from Porto Santo Stefano on an unspoiled andundeveloped stretch of coast line. Please discuss yourintentions and expectations for your time on holiday beforebooking.

• Very private setting and home, not suitable for anyoneunsteady on their feet, who has difficulty with inclines or doesnot appreciate a wild and relatively remote setting. Thelocation is not suitable to very small or risk-taking children.We must be apprised of all guests before contract is signed.Owner requires absolute discretion. Please discuss with usbefore booking.

• Comfortable shoes with traction are required on thisproperty. Landscape is not suitable for bare feet, flip flops,high heals or any unstable footwear. Guests health and well-being is entirely their own responsibility. Ocean access is via arustic path to a rocky shoreline with a ladder for entry to deepwater. There is no beach. Access to ocean is notrecommended when seas are rough.

• All rooms have direct access from the shared terrace. Mare,Cielo and Sassi bedrooms share an internal connection aswell. Ragazzi is reachable only from Terrace, top bunk has lowclearance, no railing. There are sliding screens on all doors.These must be treated with care - any damage will beautomatically deducted from guests' Security Deposit.

• Private drive is extremely steep and turning. Guests arevery strongly recommended to rent nothing larger than astation wagon and to leave it at the top of the drive. eBikes orwalking to/from the communal pool and tennis courts isstrongly advised. Please discuss with us before renting.

• Le Cannelle, the home of our offering, is located within aprivate gated community also known as Le Cannelle. Thestrictest discretion is required on the part of all guests topreserve the owners' privacy. There is a shared pool andtennis court, as well as a bar and restaurant. Guests must beregistered in advance to enjoy these privileges and there areadditional costs. Please inquire.
