AQUIRE - Aquatic Information Retrieval AQUIRE, produced by the U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), contains information on acute, chronic, bioaccumulative, and sublethal effects data from tests performed on freshwater and saltwater organisms (bacteria, birds, and aquatic mammals are excluded). Data items include chemical substance information, study protocol, and test results. More than 232,000 records cover 7,300 chemicals and 4,200 species. Many records are linked to full texts or abstracts of cited articles, and further full-text linking is possible (depending on a given subscriber's access rights to electronic journals).

BIODEG - Biodegradation of Substances in the Environment BIODEG was developed through the collaborative efforts of EPA's Office of Toxic Substances and the Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC). This database includes over 6,600 records with information about the biodegradation of 815 chemical substances in several types of experiments (biological treatment simulations, screening tests, field studies, grab sample tests, etc.) under a variety of experimental conditions (e.g., aerobic, anaerobic, etc.) BIOLOG - Biodegradation Literature References BIOLOG, developed through the collaborative efforts of EPA's Office of Toxic Substances and the Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC), is an index of published literature on the biodegradation and microbial toxicity of chemical substances. Over 62,600 records cover more than 7,850 different chemicals.

BRS - Biennial Reporting System BRS is a national level system of data collection on the generation, management, and minimization of hazardous wastes. BRS captures detailed data on the generation of hazardous waste from large quantity generators and waste management practices of treatment, storage and disposal facilities in the United States. These data are collected every other year and provide the ability to perform trend analyses. Over 41,600 records in all.

CCRIS - Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information System CCRIS contains individual assay results and test conditions for some 8,900 chemical substances. It is a scientifically evaluated and fully referenced data bank, developed and maintained by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the area of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, tumor promotion, and tumor inhibition. Data are derived from studies cited in primary journals, current awareness tools, NCI reports, and other special sources. Test results have been reviewed by experts in carcinogenesis and mutagenesis.

CERCLIS - CERCLA Information System CERCLIS contains information on active hazardous waste sites and NFRAP ("no further remedial action planned") sites nominated or chosen for cleanup under the Superfund program. Records contain summaries of the status of the site with regard to the Superfund, including names and addresses of potentially responsible parties (PRPs). Inclusion of a specific site or area in the CERCLIS database does not represent a determination of any party's liability, nor a finding that any response action is necessary; it merely indicates that hazardous waste is, or was alleged to be, present at the site. Over 46,300 records in all; more than 3,000 of these include lists of PRPs.

CHRIS - Chemical Hazard Response Information System Information on labeling, physical and chemical properties, health hazards, fire hazards, chemical reactivity, water pollution, and hazard classifications is presented for 1,200 chemical substances. CRISP - Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects

CRISP is a searchable database of federally funded biomedical research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. The database, maintained by the Office of Extramural Research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), includes projects funded by NIH, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and Office of Assistant Secretary of Health (OASH). Users can search for scientific concepts, emerging trends and techniques, or identify specific projects and/or investigators. The database, a constituent part of Toxline Special, currently includes over 52,000 records from between 1992 and 2004. DATALOG DATALOG was developed through the collaborative efforts of EPA's Office of Toxic Substances and the Syracuse Research Corporation(SRC). This database includes bibliographic references to published journal articles on the environmental fate and physical-chemical properties of chemicals released into the environment. References to 18 environmental fate properties (e.g. water solubility, photolysis, hydrolysis, biodegradation and more) are included for more than 16,000 chemical substances in 323,190 records.

ENVIROFATE - Environmental Fate ENVIROFATE, developed through the collaborative efforts of EPA's Office of Toxic Substances and the Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC), provides access to information on the environmental fate or behavior of chemicals released in the environment. Data on environmental transformation rates (e.g., biodegradation, oxidation, hydrolysis) and on physical-chemical properties (e.g., water solubility, photolysis, hydrolysis, biodegradation) are included. Records are drawn from papers published around the world involving chemicals that are produced in excess of one million pounds annually. Over 15,400 records cover 1833 different chemicals.

EMIC - Environmental Mutagen Information Center The Environmental Mutagen Information Center (EMIC) was organized at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 1969. EMIC's mission is to collect, organize, and disseminate information relevant to genetic toxicology. The EMIC database contains records which have been published in more than 3,000 publication sources. EMIC is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and managed by NLM (the US National Library of Medicine).

FINDS - Facilities Index Data System FINDS contains more than 1,800,000 records for sites and facilities regulated by the EPA or by states under a variety of statutes including RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, TSCA, FIFRA, TRIS, and more.

GENE-TOX - Genetic Toxicity Details Sample Record GENE-TOX is directed toward establishing standard genetic testing and evaluation procedures for the regulation of toxic substances. The database is organized on a chemical-by-chemical basis. It is created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and contains genetic toxicology (mutagenicity) test data, resulting from expert peer review of the open scientific literature, on over 3,200 chemicals. The GENE-TOX program was established to select assay systems for evaluation, review data in the scientific literature, and recommend proper testing protocols and evaluation procedures for these systems.

GIABS - Gastrointestinal Absorption References to articles in the literature on absorption, distribution, metabolism, or excretion of chemical substances in test animals or humans. More than 12,000 references concerning 3,779 different chemical substances.

HSDB - Hazardous Substances Data Bank Details Sample Record Hazardous Substances Data Bank provides broad scope coverage of human and animal toxicity, safety and handling. HSDB is enhanced with information on human exposure, industrial hygiene, emergency handling procedures, environmental fate, regulatory requirements, and related areas. All data are referenced and derived from a core set of books, government documents, technical reports and selected

primary journal literature. Research is peer-reviewed by the Scientific Review Panel (SRP), a committee of experts in the major subject areas within the data bank's scope. The database is organized into individual chemical records, and contains over 4,900 records.

ICIS (Integrated Compliance Information System - formerly DOCKET) - US EPA Civil Enforcement

Docket The ICIS database contains information on all civil judicial cases filed by the Department of Justice on behalf of the US Environmental Protection Agency and is the official EPA database for tracking and reporting information on civil judicial and administrative enforcement cases under all environmental statutes. The database is maintained by EPA within the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA). Data entry is performed in each EPA Region and Headquarters. Over 64,000 records in all.

IRIS - The Integrated Risk Information System IRIS is an electronic database containing information on human health effects that may result from exposure to various chemicals in the environment. IRIS was initially developed for EPA staff in response to a growing demand for consistent information on chemical substances for use in risk assessments, decision-making and regulatory activities.

ISHOW - Information System for Hazardous Organics in Water ISHOW, sponsored by the Office of Toxic Substances of the EPA, was developed by the EPA laboratory in Duluth, Minnesota in conjunction with the University of Minnesota. This database of 17,159 records includes physical property data on more than 5,700 different chemicals with bibliographic references to the original sources. Not all properties are recorded for all substances.

MEDLINE Toxicology Subset MEDLINE is the electronic version of Index medicus, a comprehensive index of scientific periodical literature in the medical sciences compiled by the National Library of Medicine. It includes all medically related areas of biology and all medical specialties, and is particularly strong in molecular biology. The Toxicology subset has been carefully selected to provide an extensive array of references to literature on biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. Over 1,315,200 records in all.

MALLIN More than 1,500 MSDSs from Mallinckrodt Baker, Inc. The MSDSs are formatted in accordance with guidelines promulgated by the U.S. OSHA. They contain information on safe handling, storage, and disposal of substances. (Note that several other CIS databases include MSDS-like records or links to MSDSs available via the internet.) New Jersey Hazardous Substance Fact Sheets Details Sample Record This database includes 1,700 MSDS-like fact sheets prepared by the Right-to-Know program of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (Division of Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health). There is one record for each chemical substance covered.

Users can retrieve records by CAS Registry Number (the preferred method), chemical name, and/or subject terms/phrases. The full record appears as a PDF document to which users must click through from the basic CIS displays. NIOSHTIC® Subset NIOSHTIC® is a bibliographic database of literature in the field of occupational safety and health. Because NIOSH examines all aspects of adverse effects experienced by workers, much of the information contained in NIOSHTIC® has been selected from sources that do not necessarily have a primary occupational safety and health orientation. Technical articles from over 4,000 sources including approximately 160 core journals and information from proceedings of scientific meetings and symposia are indexed. Over 50,700 records in all.

NIOSH Pocket Guide (NPG) The NIOSH Pocket Guide comes from the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. It includes 677 records, each dealing with a different chemical. The records provide information on incompatibilities, references to measurement methods, and information about personal protection and first aid. Searches are possible by chemical name or CAS Registry Number. OHMTADS - Oil and Hazardous Materials/Technical Assistance Data System Details Sample Record OHMTADS provides access to a data file created by the Superfund program of the US Environmental Protection Agency to aid emergency response teams in the rapid retrieval of chemical-specific response information.

RCRIS - Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System RCRIS is compiled by state and federal environmental agencies under the direction of the EPA, Office of Solid Waste. This database provides comprehensive information on all RCRA hazardous waste handlers including large and small-quantity generators, transporters, burner/blenders, incinerators, and TSD facilities. Records describing hazardous material handlers, their operations, classification, permitting, and violations are available for over 658,000 sites. RISKLINE - Details Sample Record This database includes over 6,900 bibliographic records elaborated by informative abstracts dealing with human and animal toxicology and carcinogenicity. The database was created by the Swedish National Chemicals Inspectorate. In some cases, the records relate to publications produced by toxicological societies and journals. In the main, however, the records relate to publications produced by industrial and technical associations, governmental agencies, and international agencies; heavily represented are the following organizations: IARC, ACGIH, NCI, BIBRA, EPA, NTP, WHO, and ATSDR. RTECS® - Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances The RTECS® Database is compiled, maintained, and updated by MDL Information Systems, Inc., under the authority of the U.S. government. Toxicity information and other data such as chemical identifiers used in the preparation of safety directives and hazard evaluations is available for over 162,100 chemicals and substances.

SANSS - Structure and Nomenclature Search System SANSS includes information from over 70 sources on nearly a million chemical names representing over 681,000 substances, including CAS Registry Numbers, structural diagrams, molecular formulas, systematic names, synonyms, and references to other sources of information.

TERRETOX - Terrestrial Toxicity Created by the EPA, TERRETOX includes nearly 40,000 records about the toxic effects of 1,285 chemical substances on more than 200 species of terrestrial animals. TERRETOX deals primarily with mammals and birds, although some insects, amphibians and other species are included.

TRI - Toxics Release Inventory TRI is an annually compiled series of databases that constitute the toxic releases files on the 1987-2003 reporting years. TRI contains information on the annual estimated releases of toxic chemicals to the environment and is based upon data collected by the EPA. Mandated by Superfund legislation, TRI's data covers air, water, land, and underground injection releases, as well as transfers to waste sites, and waste treatment methods and efficiency, as reported by industrial facilities around the United States. TRI also includes data related to source reduction and recycling. The database includes more than 1,400,000 records.

TSCAINV - Toxic Substances Control Act Inventory This database contains information for over 65,000 chemical substances that have been manufactured, imported, or processed in the US for commercial purposes since January 1, 1975.

TSCAPP - TSCA Plant and Production The U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) required the establishment of an inventory of the many chemicals found in U.S. commerce during the period 1975 through 1977. This inventory was generated by the manufacturers and importers of chemical substances in commercial quantities. Processors and users also reported chemicals that they used. Over 122,100 records in all.

TSCATS - Toxic Substances Control Act Test Submissions TSCATS includes over 64,300 records of information on unpublished health and safety studies submitted to EPA under the provisions of the Toxic Substances Control Acts. Over 8,400 chemical substances are covered. Some 10% of referenced studies are available online to subscribers at no extra charge. Studies which are not available online can be purchased on microfiche; ordering information is found in each record.

The Index to Printed Music: Collections & Series combines the Index Database, the

Bibliography Database and the Names Database into the only electronic title for finding

individual pieces of music printed in standard scholarly editions. Because it indexes each

individual piece in a collection, it provides superior access for scholars, performers, teachers, and

other researchers. Music for specific performing forces is easily retrievable, thus offering

detailed repertory for performers, conductors, and directors of ensembles.

The music included is published in sets and series organized according to various criteria:

• by composer (Complete works: Gesamtausgaben)

• by geographical area (Monuments: Denkmäler)

• by time or style period

• by original source (usually manuscript)

• in anthologies

The Index Database currently contains ca. 200,630 records, with over 20 fields of information: names (composers, poets, librettists, editors); titles and alternate titles; language of text and text

incipit; performing forces (medium); identifying numbers (item numbers, opus/thematic

catalogue numbers, key); formats (full score, piano vocal score, parts, etc.); language; presence

of non-standard clefs; figured bass and how treated; duration of piece (if given in item); genres;

musical incipit (if needed for identification); citations for performing editions based on the main

work; and RISM source numbers.

The Index Database is linked to the Bibliography Database (ca. 9,300 citations as contained in Collected Editions, Historical Series & Sets & Monuments of Music: A Bibliography, by George

R. Hill and Norris L. Stephens [Berkeley: Fallen Leaf Press, 1997]). This database is searchable

by composer, title, and series name and number. Linking the Bibliography and Index records is a

standard edition number. From the Bibliography record, this number allows users to view all

index entries for a particular title. From an Index record, this number enables users to link to the

Bibliography title for quick searching in library catalogues.

The Names Database currently contains around 20,000 names with three times as many cross-references (alternate forms of the names). The names, whether for composer, librettist, poet, or

editor, have been established by researching the scholarly literature to determine the most

complete form based on the latest published research. Many of the cross-references are based on

those established by the Library of Congress.

Currently, the Index to Printed Music includes approximately 135,000 index entries. Recently,

the Music Library Association received a grant from the Mellon Foundation to support the

development of the database. This three-year grant will enable the project to complete the

indexing of the music listed in the bibliography Collected editions, historical series & sets &

monuments of music : a bibliography, by George R. Hill and Norris L. Stephens, and to add

additional titles to the bibliography and complete their indexing. IPM is a project of the not-for-profit organization named the James Adrian Music Company, of which George R. Hill is

president. Other major participants in the work include Zdravko Blazekovic, Joseph M. Boonin,

James P. Cassaro, Mary W. Davidson, Elizabeth A. Davis, Paul R. Emmons, Barbara A. Renton,

Gordon S. Rowley, and Norris L. Stephens. It is expected that the number of index entries will

more than double over the next three years.

The Index to Printed Music is based on a methodology developed by prominent musicologists

and librarians. It has received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Description: En esta publicación se aborda la cubierta del edificio como envoltura global o cerramiento, que permite aislarse de las acciones exteriores y conseguir unas condiciones adecuadas en el interior del edificio, para que el hombre pueda llevar a cabo sus actividades con bienestar y seguridad. La edificación actual se caracteriza por una evolución de las técnicas constructivas, por una mayor rapidez en el desarrollo y ejecución de los proyectos y obras, y por un aumento de las exigencias de los clientes; así como por próximos cambios en la normativa de aplicación que requerirían el conocimiento de los nuevos requisitos y prestaciones que deben cumplir los edificios. Estas circunstancias motivan la necesidad de una mejor definición de los proyectos y de una gestión y control más eficaz durante la ejecución de las obras. A menudo, la cubierta es un subsistema al que se le dedica poca atención en el diseño, ya que pasa más desapercibida que otros cerramientos como por ejemplo las fachadas, que tienen mayor incidencia en el impacto arquitectónico y tecnológico del edificio. Por ello, en este libro se ha pretendido recoger los principales componentes de las cubiertas, planas e inclinadas, para que sirvan para una adecuada definición y resolución constructiva de este tipo de cerramiento y de sus diversos puntos singulares. Se muestran directrices para le elaboración del proyecto de cubierta a través de pautas de gestión de la calidad y fichas de autocontrol que pueden servir para la definición de los distintos documentos que componen el proyecto. Demás, para la fase de ejecución de obras se presentan unas fichas de control de calidad que pueden emplearse, tanto por la empresa constructora responsable de la ejecución, como por la dirección facultativa.

A secondary emphasis is on significant but little known sources of news and ideas. Historically significant early Left publications such as The People (est. Middle East Bibliography (1946-2001) The Middle East Institute's Middle East Bibliography (1946-2001) from The Middle East Journal consists of over 103,000 citations to carefully selected literature covering a chronology continuously maintained for over 55 years. During 2003, NISC will prepare and include citations dating back to 1946 on the geographical area from Morocco to Pakistan, including Central Asia. Middle East Book Bibliographies These bibliographies, compiled by Dr. Bernard Reich and Dr. Sanford Silverburg, contribute over 4,400 entries most of which have been published after 1980. The materials are, for the most part, English-language but include many entries in other Western European languages, such as French and German, and fewer in the Middle East languages of Arabic, Hebrew, and Turkish. A special effort was made to be as inclusive as possible on popular topics such as the Salman Rushdie affair and women in the Arab world. This bibliography was compiled with the aim of providing diverse topics of interest dealing with the region of the Middle East, its people, and its cultures to a wide range of interested people, from scholars to laypeople.

Theses & Dissertations Also included is the first comprehensive listing of the published (and some unpublished) theses and dissertations on the relationship between Asian states (from Pakistan in the West to Japan in the East) and the Middle East and North Africa. In this regard, bilateral and multilateral relationships in numerous spheres of activity have been examined.

MECAS Citations Database This file contains over 95,000 records to mostly English-language publications (journal articles & books) and various other documents on the peoples, cultures, beliefs, theology, education, languages, literatures and current affairs of the regions covered. Niles’ Register – also known as The Weekly Register, Niles’ Weekly Register, and Niles’

National Register – was a newsweekly founded by Hezekiah Niles in 1811. It was published by Niles or his successors until 1849. It covered both the United States and the world. The Register was famous in its own day for its comprehensiveness and reliability – it was routinely cited as an authoritative source of information in courtrooms and legislatures – and it has since become a standard source of information for historians and genealogists. It is available in major public and academic libraries either as bound paper volumes or in microform.

The Cumulative Index to Niles’ Register permits researchers to locate pertinent articles in the

more than 30,000 densely printed pages that make up the work. The index is organized under

easy-to-grasp library-style headings. References are expressed in terms of volume and page – as

in volume 45, page 34. This is all that is needed to look up a reference in either the paper or

microform forms of the work, both of which are organized by volume. Most entries also include

dates of publication.

More than 24,000 individuals are cited by name in the Cumulative Index, and names have been

standardized so that one can find a reference to Henry Clay, say, by searching for that name –

even if the textual reference is actually to "Mr. Clay,"" the Secretary of State," "H. Clay," or

whatever. Similary, the names of places and things have also been standardized so that one can

find references to, say, "Argentina" or "cigars" even if the text refers to "Buenos Ayres" or

"segars."

More than 5,600 full-text articles are embedded in the index and will be retrieved automatically

(along with index entries) in response to an appropriate search. The Cumulative Index is updated

at six-month intervals by the addition of at least 500 full-text articles per update. New Niles

The International Inventory of Musical Sources (RISM) is an international, non-profit joint venture which aims to comprehensively document the world's musical sources of manuscripts or printed music, works on music theory and libretti stored in libraries, archives, monasteries, schools and private collections. The organization, founded in Paris in 1952, is the largest and the only global operation that registers written musical sources. RISM documents what exists and where it is stored.

Among the different series of RISM only series A/II: "Music manuscripts after 1600" is available online.

RISM series A/II: "Music manuscripts after 1600" is the most comprehensive annotated index and guide to music manuscripts produced after 1600. Fifty years of careful research and joint initiatives sponsored by RISM brings together among others more than 564,000 records by over 19,500 composers into one database which can be easily searched. The manuscripts are found in over 740 libraries and archives in 31 countries including: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uruguay and USA.

The Music manuscript database is linked to three other databases providing additional information to specific content: Composer, Library Sigla and Bibliographic Citations. RISM Libraries Sigla The RISM Libraries Sigla Database identifies more than 6,250 libraries worldwide that hold music materials relevant to RISM series. All libraries are identified by name and RISM siglum. Other information provided may include the addresses.
